Description
Buffalo Pass Road (County Road 38) cuts through Routt National Forest at nearly 10,000 feet, and the pullouts scattered along its length offer open subalpine camping with Buffalo Mountain rising close to the southeast. Access is via a washboarded gravel road — manageable for most vehicles, including larger rigs, though the corrugations slow progress. The corridor sees steady use on weekends, with multiple informal sites along the route; at least one nearby spot includes a fire ring.
