nice place to stay just outside Truckee

Boca Springs is a great little alternative to the other nearby sites on the reservoir (which is currently low while under construction).   The water from the natural spring is cold and delicious!

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities and facilities are available at Boca Spring Campground?

Boca Spring Campground offers basic amenities for a more primitive camping experience. The campground's most notable feature is access to a natural spring that provides cold, fresh drinking water - a refreshing amenity for campers. Being a smaller alternative to other sites around the reservoir, it provides a quieter atmosphere. The campground is currently operational while nearby reservoir construction continues. For complete details on restroom facilities, trash service, and fire ring availability, contact the Tahoe National Forest office before your trip.

How do I find Boca Spring Campground and what are the access roads like?

Boca Spring Campground is located near Boca Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest. The main access road to the campground is easy to navigate and suitable for most vehicles. However, once you enter the campground, the internal road becomes quite rocky and may require slower, more careful driving. This is important to note if you're bringing an RV or trailer. For specific directions, consult the Tahoe National Forest website or contact the ranger district office.

Are there good photo spots or scenic views at Boca Spring Campground?

Boca Spring Campground offers several photo-worthy spots focused around its natural features. The natural spring itself makes for interesting photographs with its clear, cold water against the forest backdrop. The nearby Boca Reservoir provides scenic landscape shots, though water levels may vary depending on construction and seasonal factors. For the best photos, explore the surrounding forest area and capture the contrast between the water features and mountain terrain. Early morning or late afternoon light typically provides the most striking images at this location.

What do visitor reviews say about Boca Spring Campground?

Boca Spring Campground is appreciated as a quieter alternative to the busier sites around the reservoir. Campers consistently highlight the natural spring's cold, delicious water as a standout feature. The campground earns praise for its peaceful setting, though visitors should note the internal campground road is very rocky despite the easy access drive to reach the facility. The location provides a good base for exploring the broader Tahoe National Forest area, and most campers find it worth returning to despite some minor terrain challenges.
