Nice Campground
We were able to grab a first come/first serve site on a Thursday afternoon. Ample shade and no leveling needed at site #17. Fire pit and picnic table are below the paved parking pad so if you’re staying a while, you’ll get a bit of a workout going back and forth. Joanne, the camp host, is such an upbeat helpful human. Other than a couple of continuously barking dogs on opposite ends of the campground, it was fairly quiet during the day. Loved seeing a small herd of deer grazing their way through camp. With our senior pass, we paid $17 for the night. We had no cell reception with T-Mobile.

Can’t wait to go back !
Great little NF campground! Pretty busy (but it was a weekend) with both tents & camping trailers. Spots are well spaced, and fire pits/picnic tables are at each site, though at not be adjacent to your parking spot (no bear boxes provided though). We were on spot 004 & had a 50-yard uphill walk to fire pit & picnic table…not a big deal but a bit of a surprise. Some good rock scrambling available on the southeast side of the lake, 5 - 10 minute walk from campground. Cell service (Verizon) spotty at best. Definitely going back!

A gorgeous new road up to a beautiful lake
I was ready to stop for the day, and saw these cluster of tents off Hwy 70. I hopped on Hwy 284 & the smiles formed. I would’ve loved a bit more of this twisty heaven, but after crossing the dam, I found myself at Spring Creek. I took a spot at the end of the smaller loop. This is a fairly-well devolved camp, with camp host, potable water spigots & frequently cleaned pit toilets. Camp Host was quickly present to collect $30 ($15 w/annual pass), and since I had no cash, allowed me to boogie back down Hwy 284 to get some. Oh darn, had to ride that road again. (The host’s face was shocked I was back so quickly 🤣) Beautiful lakefront spots, but quite crowded, and there is a lot of motorboat traffic on the lake. This spot is in a small cove, so it’s not bad. Cell service was very limited, 1-2 bars extended. Lots of chipmunks 🐿 looking for handouts, so secure all foods.
