Great spot when open

Currently closed due to bobcat fire but hopefully will reopen soon. Has 6 small campsites for hikers/campers and are available first come first serve. One main downfall is that running water is a maybe, so bring plenty!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Devore Trail Camp located and how do I access it?

Devore Trail Camp is located in the Angeles National Forest in Southern California. The campground is accessible via hiking trails in the forest, making it a backcountry destination rather than a drive-up campground. To access it, hikers typically use established trails within the Angeles National Forest. Note that the campground has been affected by the Bobcat Fire and may have access restrictions. Always check with the Angeles National Forest for current trail conditions and access information before planning your trip.

What amenities and facilities are available at Devore Trail Camp?

Devore Trail Camp offers minimal backcountry amenities. The campground features 6 small campsites designed for hikers and backpackers. Water availability is inconsistent, so it's essential to pack plenty of your own water supplies. There are no modern facilities such as showers or electrical hookups. The campground follows backcountry principles, so expect a primitive camping experience with limited facilities. Pack in and pack out all trash and supplies you'll need for your stay.

What hiking trails connect to or are near Devore Trail Camp?

Devore Trail Camp connects to the network of hiking trails in the Angeles National Forest. The camp serves as a destination and rest point for backcountry hikers traversing the forest trail system. While specific trail names would need to be confirmed with the Angeles National Forest, the camp is positioned to serve as an overnight spot for multi-day hikes in the region. The surrounding area offers varied terrain and typical Southern California mountain landscapes. For detailed trail maps and current conditions, contact the Angeles National Forest visitor center.

Do I need permits or reservations for Devore Trail Camp?

Devore Trail Camp operates on a first-come, first-served basis for its six campsites. No advance reservations are accepted. However, you may need a California Campfire Permit if you plan to have a campfire or use a stove, depending on current fire restrictions. Additionally, a National Forest Adventure Pass might be required for parking at certain trailheads in Angeles National Forest. Check with the Angeles National Forest office for current permit requirements, especially since regulations may have changed following the Bobcat Fire. Always verify fire restrictions before your visit.
