Dispersed camping near Holly Grove, Arkansas primarily centers around wildlife management areas. North and South Webb Lake Camp both require permits, with North Webb described by visitors as "a literal rest stop on the side of highway" with some confusion about tent camping allowances. Beagle Club Road Pull-Off offers tent camping with drive-in access and features a water spigot, though reviews indicate it consists of "two relatively small parking lots in the woods" that are "super primitive."

Henry Gray Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area provides the most developed free camping option, featuring concrete pads, picnic tables, drinking water, and accommodation for both tents and RVs including big rigs. The area allows pets and offers both drive-in and walk-in access. A camper noted, "The site itself isn't bad. It is very well shaded with 8-10 concrete pads." However, visitors should be aware that despite what some apps indicate, Arkansas public lands require hunting or fishing permits for camping. As one visitor warned, "This was a nice Campground BUT it does require a hunting/fishing permit and we were given a written warning."

      Beagle Club Road Pull-Off

Small, super primitive. Says permit required doubt anyone is checking .

Not much too it. Basically just two relatively small parking lots in the woods, past some houses off the highway. Would only be good for a super quick over night.

      Beagle Club Road Pull-Off

      Perfect spot off Highway 40

I was the only person here, they have two campsites on either side of the road. Quiet, and easy access from the highway.

      Large lot plus spots

After reading about water on the road in a different review, I was pretty sure I'd be turning around after passing so many flooded fields. I was happy the road was dry all the way in. The roads here are all paved. There is a huge paved lot and at least 8 designated camp spots with concrete pad. Some have concrete tables. There are neighboring buildings and i can't tell if they're maintenance buildings or if people live in them. It was a chilly but comforting stay in late Feb. I would stay here again.

      Can be wet. REQUIRES PERMIT

It had rained and the road in was near a foot deep flowing water. Not a problem on our motorcycle but a car may have issues with water coming in. This was a, nice Campground BUT it does require a hunting/fishing permit and we were given a written warning. Apparently this is true of all Arkansas public property despite app saying otherwise.

Henry Gray Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area

      Mosquito Alley

The site itself isn't bad. It is very well shaded with 8-10 concrete pads. There are a few concrete benches and a water spigot. There is a huge parking lot next to it for trucks with boats/trailers to park.

This site is normally used for hunting and fishing. There is a shooting range on the road before you get to the site.

I'm here I October and there are still quite a few mosquitoes. I imagine in the warmer months they would be unbearable. Also the cell signal is pretty spotty.

Overall, nice for a free spot but not the greatest.

      Beagle Club Road Pull-Off

      Cool little quiet spot

This was my first dispersed camping on my road trip and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it is compared to all the other noise that organized campgrounds can have. there are two sites across from each other and can accommodate maybe 3-4 tents each. I made the mistake of thinking it wasn’t gonna rain and I didn’t put my rain fly on and just when I was about to fall asleep it poured down on me and I made another rookie mistake of setting my tent up on the soft ground instead of the gravel and by the time the rain was over the floor of my tent felt like a waterbed luckily, my tent was waterproof. The best part of this spot was the isolation and also the spiget. Both camping sites share one. Thank goodness for the rain because I haven’t showered in four days.

      Beagle Club Road Pull-Off

      Quick stop only

Close to the highway so there’s that ambiance. But pretty secluded. I’m sure it’s used more during hunting seasons since it’s marked for such. It was good for an overnight along the way.

      Beagle Club Road Pull-Off

      Fine for a night

Spent just one night here. Easy to find and has a water spigot. Noticed a sign in the morning that said hunting, fishing, or camping permit required but no one came by to check. One other person here. A bit buggy but otherwise a quiet spot to get some sleep!

Wildlife management areas in this region experience frequent flooding during spring and occasional hunting restrictions based on seasonal schedules. Located within the flat Mississippi Alluvial Plain region, camping areas typically sit at elevations below 300 feet and experience high humidity levels throughout summer months.

    What to do

Shooting range access: Visitors to Henry Gray Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area can use the shooting range located on the road before reaching the campsite. One camper noted, "There is a shooting range on the road before you get to the site."

Fishing opportunities: Several wildlife management areas offer fishing access, with varying catch rates depending on seasonal water levels. Anglers should check current conditions before planning their trip, as water depth can change rapidly in this low-lying region.

Wildlife observation: The wetland ecosystems support diverse bird species and wildlife viewing opportunities. Morning hours typically provide the best wildlife sightings, though mosquito protection is essential. According to one camper at Beagle Club Road Pull-Off, the area can get "a bit buggy but otherwise a quiet spot to get some sleep."

    What campers like

Concrete camping pads: The concrete pads at some sites provide stable surfaces for setting up camp regardless of ground conditions. A camper at Hurricane Lake WMA stated, "The site itself isn't bad. It is very well shaded with 8-10 concrete pads. There are a few concrete benches and a water spigot."

Water access: Several sites provide drinking water, which reduces the amount campers need to carry in. A visitor to Beagle Club Road Pull-Off mentioned, "Easy to find and has a water spigot."

Boat trailer parking: Some areas accommodate vehicles with trailers. Hurricane Lake WMA features "a huge parking lot next to it for trucks with boats/trailers to park," according to visitor reports, making it convenient for those planning water activities.

    Tips from RVers

Site accessibility: While some areas accommodate larger vehicles, access can be challenging. Roads leading to many sites are unpaved and may narrow considerably, requiring careful navigation.

Size limitations: Smaller sites have restricted parking areas not suitable for larger rigs. One camper described Beagle Club Road Pull-Off as having "two relatively small parking lots in the woods," suggesting limited space for larger vehicles.

Camping restrictions clarity: RV campers should verify tent camping allowances. A visitor to North Webb Lake Camp noted confusion about this, saying it "Says no tent camping, but it seemed like an RV was planning on staying," highlighting the importance of confirming site-specific rules.
