Best RV Parks & Resorts near Eufaula, AL

Eufaula offers several RV campgrounds with varying amenities and site configurations. Kelley's RV and Mobile Home Park provides water and electric hookups with sewer connections, though it was "not originally designed for campers and motorhomes" according to one visitor. Deer Run RV Park features 130 sites with full hookups, concrete pads, and accommodations for large motorhomes. Lake Eufaula Campground includes pull-through sites positioned along a small pond, while City Limits RV Resort in nearby Cuthbert, Georgia offers big-rig friendly spaces with 50-amp service. "The sites are all very nice with fire ring, lantern pole, picnic table, small counter height table, and concrete pad for your camper."

Paved access roads lead to most area campgrounds, though some entrances feature speed bumps requiring careful navigation. Many parks have high water pressure, necessitating pressure reducers for RV connections. Cell service varies considerably throughout the region - Verizon generally provides 3-4 bars at most locations, while T-Mobile coverage can be limited to Edge service in some areas. Public dump stations may become congested during peak checkout times, particularly on Sunday afternoons when lines form at single-lane facilities. Most campgrounds remain open year-round, and several feature laundry facilities, cable TV connections, and dog-friendly policies. During summer months, lakefront sites fill quickly as boaters seek convenient water access.

COE Walter F George Lake White Oak Creek Campground

    Beautiful campground with great sites

Stayed December 2019 for a long weekend. The sites are all very nice with fire ring, lantern pole, picnic table, small counter height table, and concrete pad for your camper or tents. Ample additional parking available. Bathrooms were well maintained. We stayed in the Oakwood loop. River Chase loop has the best playground. Staff were very friendly. Several dump stations as well as a dog park. Would like some more hiking trails.

    Chewacla State Park Campground

Great little state park just outside Auburn.

Traveling back east, we found Chewacla State Park campground on The Dyrt. Due to heavy rain, did not make it as far as we wanted, so this was a last minute same day reservation, which we made online.

Total fees were $42 for a full hookup site. We got site 34 which is an 80' long back in spot. Super easy to back in, even in super dark conditions with heavy cloud cover and no street lights of any kind.

Water pressure is awesome and they have both 30 & 50 amp electric. Sewage is nicely placed in a low spot so you won't need a hose lifter (a rarity in our experience).

Out spot is across from the bath house, but also the dump station. No smells, but I would imagine mornings might be a bit congested and noisy as other campers are leaving and dumping.

Also directly across from the site is a large picnic shelter. Sites are decently spaced apart, though site 35 is a pull through, and though unoccupied on our nights stay, might make it feel a bit more cramped.

Our site had a fire ring and picnic table. And even though it's close to the highway, no noticeable traffic noise. Only thing we could hear were some kids playing across the campground.

It's about 5 minutes off the interstate and very easy access (just watch out for the staggered speed bumps at the campground entrance...it's narrow, too.

No wi-fi in the park. But Verizon 4G was 3 out of 5 bars on my Samsung S20+.

Overall a great spot and easy to reserver online for those looking for a calm and peaceful overnight. Looking forward to getting a run on the trails in the morning!

    Camp David RV Resort

Beautiful area near lake and river walk

This is a new RV park with full hookups. WiFi is available for long term guests through Mediacom. Daily, weekly and monthly rates with up charge on electric after 800 kWh.

On the outskirts of Columbus. Fishing, Paved river walk for walking and biking, near Ft Benning and golf course. Pleasant owner with big plans to make this a great park. Assisted us with getting to and in our site at dark. Camp host is very helpful.

Cons: large gravel on road and sites making leveling difficult. Sites are fairly close together but better than some. Landscape is in its early stage so grass is sparse. Beautiful trees surround the area but none on sites.

    Lakepoint Resort State Park Campground

    Great stay in winter

We stayed at this campground in a pull through site in February on our cross-country adventure. Plenty of room for big rigs. Easy to navigate roads. Safe for kids to ride around on bikes for hours. Site are big and the one we were at backed up on woods. Great view of the lake and sunset.  Lots of beautiful space to explore in the park, even in the chilly weather. Will definitely have to come back in the Spring!

    Deer Run RV Park

    Nice quiet RV park

Perfect place to stay for short or long term. Close to town but just far enough away to have peace and quiet. Had fishing ponds, waking trial, bath/laundry house and pool. We stayed a month with plenty of space.

    Hardridge Creek Campground

Another great Army Corps of Engineers Campground

We recently spent five nights at another Army Corps of Engineers campground, Hardridge Creek Campground located near Abbeville, Alabama. This is one of four COE campgrounds on the Walter F. George reservoir locally know as Lake Eufaula. We reserved our site online using the Recreation. gov application.

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon, check in times are after 4:00 PM. The reservation and check in process was painless, our paperwork was ready upon our arrival and COVID precautions were implemented and rigorously executed throughout. We reserved site 52 which is a beach front site which is large and included a private stairway down to the lakeside beach area. The site included 50/30/15 amp electrical, water, fire pit, picnic table, fire ring, BBQ and portable table. The site was completely level on a concrete pad. Very nice and well kept. There are several sites that include sewer connections on sites 55-77. This campground does close and lock the gate between 10PM and 7AM, there is no gate code and only emergency access is available through the park host. This is stressed during the check-in and in the provided information.

We really enjoyed this location but there are ants at this park as is others in this region. If you do not take preemptive measures beforehand you will be affected. Everything that touches the ground is a conduit for their access, the tires, leveling jacks, tongue jack, power cord and the water hose are their tools for finding a way. Even something as simple as a tree branch touching the awning will prove a route.

The beach was very nice and included a swimming area with boundaries to prevent boats and jet skis from entering. The bathroom was clean and typical for its age. The closest town is Fort Gaines, Georgia, 3.5 miles away, there is a gas station and a Dollar General for there for basic supplies.

We used Verizon cell service and had good coverage for cell service and excellent data or LTE coverage. We were also able to receive about six channels of over the air TV on the antenna.

In summary; great park, well kept and managed. The sites are better than most and can provide accommodations for all types of rigs. The only negative was the ants but having read other reviews beforehand, we came prepared. Check it out if you are in the area. I’ve included a park map with information in the attached pictures.

    Deer Run RV Park

    Good Stop Over

Our GPS led us directly to the campground (CG) on US-231, conveniently located on the west side of Troy, AL. Check-in was quick and hassle-free. We stayed at site 60, which featured full hookups (FHUs) and a level cement pad with well-positioned utilities. Water pressure was high, so we used a reducer. The CG offers WiFi, but we couldn’t locate the guest network during our overnight stay. This wasn’t an issue, as we relied on our Starlink and T-Mobile home internet, which performed well despite just one bar on our phone. Verizon reception was also solid at three bars. The CG provides cable, which we didn’t use, but our camping friends in site 59 confirmed it worked well. The older section of the CG is shaded with mature trees, while the newer area has fewer, making it ideal for satellite users. Compared to our last visit a few years ago, the only noticeable upgrade was the addition of tiny houses near the office. The CG remains clean and well-maintained. One downside was the heavy traffic at our site from long-term residents returning from work, many of whom didn’t observe the speed limit. Deer Run also offers water and electric sites in the newer back section, which we plan to request for future short stays.

Kelley's RV and Mobile Home Park

    Originally, not for campers/motorhomes.

Although it is RV and motorhome friendly, this isn't your average camping spot, because it was not originally designed for campers and motorhomes. You are about 2 miles away from the Lake Eufaula, and it has no playgrounds or any other extras at this facility. This is designed more for long-term living and not just daily or weekly camping. But if you're looking for a regular trailer park to stay in, you found a great one!

Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area Engineer Beach RV Park

    Pull through privacy

This military RV campground was very nice. The pull through site that we were assigned provided privacy as it was situated off to itself. However because of the vast amount of trees we were unable to use the satellite and WiFi was not available, but the Rec room had plenty of books.

Guide to Eufaula

Eufaula's RV campgrounds sit along the Alabama-Georgia border, surrounding Lake Eufaula (Walter F. George Reservoir) which covers 45,000 acres with 640 miles of shoreline. The region maintains mild winter temperatures averaging 50-60°F while summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F with high humidity. Water levels fluctuate seasonally, affecting lake access points and campground proximity to shorelines.

What to do

Fishing at local ponds: Kelly Creek RV Park features a catch-and-release fishing pond with a dock. "We took the dogs for a walk down along the creek, through some nice woods and a meadow, it was a nice walk. They even have a catch and release pond," notes a visitor at Kelly Creek RV Park.

Visit Providence Canyon: The area offers access to hiking trails at nearby natural attractions. "This nice, new RV Park is located in quaint Cuthbert, GA and offers nearby access to good hunting & fishing and hiking/trail running at Providence Canyon," writes a reviewer about City Limits RV Resort.

Wildlife viewing: Several campgrounds provide opportunities to observe local wildlife. "Saw a turkey gobbler in the driveway when I pulled in. Owner says there are about 40 in the area and a few deer," mentions a camper at Kelly Creek RV Park. The agricultural setting of several campgrounds means livestock viewing is also common.

What campers like

Quiet rural settings: Many campers appreciate the peaceful atmosphere away from highway noise. "In order to get in the campground, you have to have a code texted to you, no other way in! Although there was loud interstate noise, it was still peaceful with the babbling creek in front of our site," shares a guest at Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple campgrounds offer fishing access. "It has lots for all types of campers and RV's... There is a small pond that you can fish in or if no one is fishing and you have a dog that loves water, they can go for a swim," explains a visitor at Deer Run RV Park.

Unique amenities: Some campgrounds provide distinctive features not commonly found. "This RV Park has full hookups and laundry as well as a cute covered commons area that has ceiling fans, an ice machine, grill, beverage fridge, picnic tables and fire pit," mentions a reviewer at City Limits RV Resort.

What you should know

Varying site layouts: Campground designs differ significantly throughout the Eufaula area. "This is an older park with many permanent and seasonal residents. We were impressed that, for the most part, there was not that 'trailer trash' look, and the residents were friendly," comments a reviewer about Deer Run RV Park.

Seasonal fruit harvesting: Some campgrounds double as working farms with seasonal agricultural activities. "Its really a big farm with a persimmon orchard but I missed harvest season. Persimmons are ripe October-December. Owner has 230 Japanese persimmon trees," notes a visitor at Kelly Creek RV Park.

Military presence: Campgrounds near Fort Rucker will experience aircraft noise. "I definitely recommend this campground as long as you don't mind the helicopters going over at all hours of the day and night," warns a camper at Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area Engineer Beach RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Look for recreational amenities: Several campgrounds offer family-friendly facilities. "There is a shower room, restrooms, laundry facilities available and all were clean. A huge beautiful pool and a children's pool, all were kept up nicely," shares a visitor at Auburn RV Park at Leisure Time Campground.

Find sites with shade: Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F, making shade critical. "The older section of the CG is shaded with mature trees, while the newer area has fewer, making it ideal for satellite users," notes a recent visitor to Deer Run RV Park.

Check for play areas: Some campgrounds offer dedicated recreation spaces. "Engineer beach is fun and family friendly! The campsites and facilities are clean. There is a small park with a swing set, teeter totter, and basketball hoop," mentions a camper at Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area Engineer Beach RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Water pressure considerations: Multiple RV campgrounds in Eufaula have high water pressure requiring equipment adjustments. "Water pressure was high, so we used a reducer," warns a camper at Deer Run RV Park.

Variable cell service: Signal strength varies significantly between carriers throughout the region. "We relied on our Starlink and T-Mobile home internet, which performed well despite just one bar on our phone. Verizon reception was also solid at three bars," reports a visitor at Deer Run RV Park.

Site selection strategy: Experienced RVers recommend requesting specific site types for optimal stays. "Where we were in the back of the CG, we could still hear the highway... There are newer water and electric sites in the 100s area in front of where we were," advises a visitor at Bar-W RV Park.
