Trough Creek State Park Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Trough Creek State Park encompasses a stretch of forested terrain in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, and the campground at its center runs from mid-April through mid-December with sites ranging from $23 to $25 per night. The loop is small and gravel-surfaced, with level sites that provide partial shade and enough spacing between neighbors that the campground stays noticeably quieter than the day-use areas. Full hookups are available, including electric, water, and sewer, making it accessible for RV rigs of most sizes.

Cell coverage is essentially nonexistent here. Multiple reviewers with Verizon report zero signal, and there is no over-the-air TV reception either. Water is available at several points throughout the campground, though at least one reviewer encountered discolored water at a tent site spigot. The bathrooms are functional but dated, and Gary P. notes that while "day use is busy, campground is pleasantly quiet." Mosquitoes can be significant in summer, so insect protection is worth planning around.

The park sits close to Raystown Lake, making it a reasonable base for boating and water recreation. Trails run through the area, including a hike above a creek with a notable overhanging rock formation. Campers interested in camping near Trough Creek State Park will find a handful of other options in the surrounding area, including Nancy's Boat To Shore Campground (PA) to the northwest. Reservations are available and pets are permitted. If a low-key, wooded site with hookups near the lake sounds like the right fit, this one is worth a look.

Roughing it with the kids!

Loved this campground. We wanted to be close to Raystown Lake. Trough is quiet and small. It's really great if you're looking for a spot to "rough" it (not really, but closer than most!) with the kids. Awesome sites. Lots of nature. Bathroom would be the reason for four stars. Spiders greet you at the entrance, and because the campground is smaller and kind of out there, the bathroom isn't super new/clean like others. That said, it's close to Raystown so you can boat, but it's a great retreat to come back to and light a fire with the kids.

Horrible

We had a terrible experience here. We were at tent site #29 but for only an hour...the "water hookup" was BROWN. The bathroom has no lights or sink... Our 16x16 tent didn't fit the "17x17" tent pad. We had bug spray on and had two ThermaCELLs running and we're literally eaten alive by mosquitoes. And just to top it off there's absolutely 0 cell service. We have Verizon. We ended up packing up and going to a different campground. Holiday KOA about 10min away was incredible. Bathrooms are the nicest I've seen at a campground.

Campground mediocre, area nice

The campground is fine. Basic amenities and pretty small. But it has everything you need. The area is gorgeous and there are a ton of trails to check out.

Pleasant, quiet park

Nice small park with gravel drives/roads and plenty of room for big rigs. All sites level with partial shade. Open, but with plently of space between sites. The trails are nice and very sceinic. No cell service at all, nor OTA TV. Water is available in the campground at various spots. Day use is busy, but campground is pleasantly quiet. Would stay here again.
