One loop in a large campground

This is a huge USFS campground in the Wenatchee National Forest, with something like 4 separate loops and separate entrances from the road. Most of the sites are reservable on recreation.gov but they have a few FCFS sites (these sites aren’t marked with an“R” on the post).

We got lucky on a Friday with a FCFS site when all the reservable sites were marked as “reserved” for the weekend.

$25/night, pay with cash or check at self-registration kiosk. Park is run by a concessionaire. Nicely kept, very clean, host on site, pit toilets and water spigots available. No dump or water fill, no hookups. There are trash dumpsters but no recycling. Hard to get a site with an open sky view for solar.

Many of the sites are pull through (curve along the camp site type). Some sites are right along the creek, beautiful and peaceful, and some are right on the road. There are trails and nice walks that take you to Lake Wenatchee, which is beautiful.

Good cell reception for ATT and Verizon.

Quality place to stay!

We camped here due to all the campgrounds near the enchantments being full, but the 25 drive to and from leavenworth was very pretty and not too bad. Try to get a site on the creek! The sites on the creek are the most private and you can go for a dip like we did! The water isn’t freezing. It is also right down the road from Lake Wenatchee State Park which is beautiful!

Nice for travel

First night here. Hosts are great. Reserved and first come first served. Shady spots and not too close. Some sites near the road, it's not a wilderness spot.

Enjoyed fall camping

Wonderful place to camp during autumn. Beautiful colors. Arrived for the last weekend before gates were closed (Closed noon Monday 10/11) A lot of no show reservations, recommend coming Saturday morning and taking the pick of the crop. Very close to amazing hikes and Leavenworth. Camp hosts were helpful, bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Fires were permitted, cold at night this time of year but many sites were still tent camping.

Nice campground, and facilitites, road nearby

We stayed 1 night at site 57 near the river on our way over the pass and it was a nice stay. Lots of campsites spread out among several campgrounds. Great facilities in general and lots of greenery and trees. The river is close by, but the 207 is also close by, so you can kinda hear vehicles drive by which accounts for -1 star. Solar exposure is spotty depending on the campground. AT&T cell service is good.

Great spot

We got in super late and the only spots available were close to the road. It wasn’t too bad overnight but it got pretty loud. We packed up and moved down to spot 52 since it was open and close to the creek. Pretty private spot with plenty of shade. Bathrooms are clean but it’s odd there is only one male and female stall for each loop. Not quite enough IMO. The camp host was super nice too. I would definitely stay here again.

Great spot, a lot of opportunities

Stayed two nights in site 17. Right across from the creek. Osprey neat above us. Water levels were low enough that kids played in creek a lot. State park is less than a mile away with a huge beach, full facilities on Lake Wenatchee. Highly recommend it here!

Chill campground outside of Lake Wenatchee

Camped here with a group of friends after making a blind reservation since there is no map or pictures of the campground available on recreation.gov. Our campsite ended up being right next to the road, which would not have been our first choice had we been able to see the map of the campground when booking. The road noise was a little bit annoying but it wasn't too big of an issue, especially at night since less people drive at that time. Many sites are spacious here, but some I noticed have a little less space and less privacy than others. The best sites are along the creek, although you can walk to the water easily from anywhere. The campground is made up of three loops that are not connected together, so if you were trying to buy 2 sites next to each other they could end up being in different loops. The bathrooms were nice and had flush toilets, though no soap was provided. Firewood is available from the camp host at site 31 for $7/bundle (cash only). They even drove around with firewood in their golf cart when they did their round of check-ins. Mosquitos were pretty abundant, so make sure to pack the insect repellent, and put it on immediately. I got bit within 30 seconds of getting out of the car when we arrived. Overall this campground was really relaxed and it didn't feel very crowded compared to Lake Wenatchee down the road.

A serene setting.

After camping here for the maximum two week period, I was absolutely in love. Being surrounded by the tall Washington trees and a distant sound of the babbling creek felt like a dream. An easy ten minute walk led you to Lake Wenachee, the most amazing alpine lake with a great beach and camp store where you can rent kayaks, paddle boards, and get ice cream. The campground hosts were very friendly and there are flush toilets and running water as well.

Lots of waterfront sites to choose from!

Lots of waterfront sites to choose from with a decent amount of buffer between sites. Had our pick of sites of the various loops when we arrived Friday afternoon in late summer, but went with a recommendation from a Dyrt review and picked site 53 (West Loop) for waterfront access. Campground traffic picked up Friday evening and the remaining waterfront sites filled up by Saturday. We allowed our dogs to check out and play in the creek (leashed), but they were in and out in less than 5 minutes. The creek rocks are big and slippery with lots of little crevices for their paws to slip into. No wildlife encounters other than frogs and chipmunks. Next time we will probably stay at a site that overlooks the creek instead of being right on the creek. PS: Camp hosts said no tying to trees. Leave your tree-tie hammocks at home.

Sleep to the sounds of a bubbling creek

Nestled along a creek, close to popular Lake Wenatchee, this is a great place to camp if you want to spend time at the Lake, but do not want to deal with the "loop crowds".

Sites have picnic tables, firepits, and grills.

Tip: Tent Sites 52-56 are the best (along the creek, a little spaced out) 50-51 are close to each other. Half of the campsites are now reservation and half are first come first serve. It is also a seasonal campground, so check before you go to make sure it's open.
