Beautiful Sites

Endless sites on this road. If you feel like spending some time searching you are bound to find the perfect site. Only saw one site taken on a cold Thursday morning in May, not sure what it’s like in warmer months. Big and small spots!!

So many spots!

Endless sites. Every FS road off from Rampart seems to go on forever. We spent 2 hours on one of them and found so many amazing sites!

So many spots!

Stayed in a site off from Rampart Range FS roads, but took a service road back to Monument and passed all of the Mt Herman sites. So sad we didn’t find these sooner! Great views, beautiful rocks, and so many site options. Keep going up the road and you will find many!! Road was only bad for a few miles from Monument to the Mt Herman trailhead, after that it smooths out.

Peaceful with a view!

Was very confused trying to get to all of the ‘Rampart Reservoir’ sites, as the directions seemed off, and many of the roads were closed/private property. Went up Rampart Rd and found plenty of side roads with decent spots. We wanted a clear view of Pikes Peak so this spot was perfect! Typical roadside free site, no amenities, but quiet and a nice view. Little to no traffic in early May. Roads were fine getting here.

Great spots

Book early to get a campsite on the beach! There are 3 campgrounds in total, the two on the water are amazing. The one on other side of the road from the beach is okay. The beach was beautiful, the water clear, and just a short drive from Mackinaw city!

Amazing - but close to wildfire

We went to the campground to check in to our beautiful site on the river but the smell of smoke was so overpowering. We drove to service and realized the wildfire was very close and we would be just outside the evacuation area. We played it safe and cancelled. So sad we couldn’t stay, it was such a clean and beautiful campground!

Awesome spot near highway

Loved this spot. Wildflowers, wildlife, and lots of space! Turn right off the sundance-warren peak road and watch out for cows crossing. I saw about 5 sites but I’m sure there are more down the road. The first 4 are accessible with any car, but it gets a bit rocky to get to the others so make sure you have good tires. There were a few cows wandering near our site which was awesome! There were wildflowers, wildlife, and a beautiful sunset from our spot up on the hill. Great spots!!

Perfect private spot

Make sure to get directions ahead of time, there is no service coming from Yellowstone, luckily we saved the map ahead of time. We pulled in on a Saturday night around 7pm and snagged a spot up top. We didn’t go down by the lake or check out those sites but we saw about 6+ spots up top. All had nice views and were far from the main road. The road was smooth coming up, but looked rough going down to the lower sites/boat ramp.

Perfect Spot

Camped here for the second year in a row, and it did not disappoint. We got lucky with a nice spot on the creek this year, which I would recommend for the best experience. The sites are spacious and most are pretty private which is great. It is primitive, no showers and just one vault toilet. I will say that the site did have a fair amount of trash on it which was disappointing, but we cleaned it up before heading out. Remember to leave no trace!!

Weird Layout - Very touristy

Beautiful but busy area. The sites were laid out weird, with little to no privacy between sites. There was no river access from the campground which was unfortunate. The resort itself was so busy and did not look peaceful to soak in. We spent most of our days exploring the park and the coast. It is nice that it is close to the falls but they are also very busy. Long drive back to civilization. I have stayed at much better campgrounds in Washington, and was a bit disappointed by this one.

Good spot near Paradise

These sites were great, pretty spread out and trees for privacy. Beautiful area and a great spot for hikers as it is close to many popular trails! Clean bathrooms were great.

Great Spot with hiking

Loved having the silver falls trail right next to our site!! The river going through the campground was so pretty. Definitely a long drive to this campground compared to the others in the park.

Great Spot

Stayed here last year while visiting North Cascades NP and loved it, but this year I loved it a little less because of how busy it was. The day use area attracted many locals and families so it wasn’t very peaceful like we were hoping. The campground is nice and clean, bathrooms were great, no potable water, and great swimming area. The swimming area gets busy due to the day use area but it is beautiful!

Beautiful View

This would get 5 stars if it weren’t for the terribly bumpy and long road up to the main site. My Toyota Highlander made it up, but I was a little nervous. It seemed like there was only one large spot at the top/end of road. There was a fire ring which is how we could tell it was a spot. The views of the mountains all around are insane!!! Loved watching the sunset and sunrise up here. It is very windy!

Quality place to stay!

We camped here due to all the campgrounds near the enchantments being full, but the 25 drive to and from leavenworth was very pretty and not too bad. Try to get a site on the creek! The sites on the creek are the most private and you can go for a dip like we did! The water isn’t freezing. It is also right down the road from Lake Wenatchee State Park which is beautiful!

Great Spot

There are just 2 sites here but they are spacious and private! There is a toilet, fire ring, and picnic table. The river is beautiful and loved hearing it at night. Both spots were filled on a Sunday night, so try to get there early or on a non weekend. Lots of deer in the area!

Lots to offer

Stayed here for two nights on the 4th of July weekend to celebrate a friends birthday. We got lucky with an end spot so there we weren’t back to back with another site. The sites were fairly large and the lake was beautiful! We went into town for coffee at “the elk house” and had some great pizza and drinks at “chatters bullpen”.

Great Campsites!

Did a 1 night backpacking trip on the MRT/NCT loop and we loved the spot we had. All spots are very spread out so you get privacy at night. Spots for a fire and very peaceful! We actually had a spot on the NCT side, the spots along the MRT side were much more spacious and were on the water!

Simple Roadside Spots

There are lots of pull offs along this road that would be suitable for car camping, but not big rigs or tents. We were originally parked at one of the roadside pull offs until we saw an empty designated dispersed site up the road so we moved there instead. There are only 3 designated sites so the pull offs are fine for a night if those are full.

Great spot near trailhead.

Originally we were set up on a small pull off on the side of the road, but then we took a walk and saw a small road shooting off the side with 3 large spots with fire pits. So beautiful and pretty quiet besides the cars during the day. The trailhead to the Enchantments trails is right up the road so it is very convenient compared to sleeping in the parking lot at the trailhead.
