Gorgeous area

Primitive camping and a far drive. But the views are phenomenal. It gets a little crazy on the weekends. Loud music and partying. Other than that it was great.

Terrible hosts

Reserved the morning of and no where on the website that it states you can’t park on the dirt. So after checking in the the host(which seemed to be inconvenient for them) we went and set up our trailer in the spot. It was a beautiful spot with some nice neighbors. They finally come over and tell us we have to move off the dirt. Meaning we need to park in the roadway. Well that doesn’t work since our rtt ladder would be in the road. They gave us some terrible options to move to(small or next to the road). We decided to leave and try to get our money back. They could only give us the second night since we were there after check in time. So we got to pay a night for nothing which is fun after driving from Oregon to get there.

Not bad

After having a bad experience at center lake campground, we got a recommendation from a local to check this place out. It was decent priced for getting a shower and a safe place to leave our stuff. Kind of an odd check in. No paperwork or anything. But it was clean and safe and not too busy considering we went there right as sturgis was starting. There is no store or cafe. But just down the road there is a very busy campground with that stuff.

Some road noise

A little close to the road but nice being next to the river. The river is nice and shallow but cold. Pit toilets were clean. Lots of spots reserved but no one in them. That shouldn’t be allowed. It should be first come first serve.

Great spot

We got in super late and the only spots available were close to the road. It wasn’t too bad overnight but it got pretty loud. We packed up and moved down to spot 52 since it was open and close to the creek. Pretty private spot with plenty of shade. Bathrooms are clean but it’s odd there is only one male and female stall for each loop. Not quite enough IMO. The camp host was super nice too. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful spot

There is one pit toilet that’s semi maintained. It gets busy on the weekends. No cell service, water, showers. Be prepared before coming out.

Beautiful views

Lots of little spots along the river to camp. No cell service, no potable water or toilets. But beautiful views of the river.

Close to road

Also close to the river. It gets very busy on holiday weekends. Also beware of camping here during the rainy season. The water covers the entire campground.

Worth the drive

It’s about 25 miles of dirt road either way you come in. It’s a nice little spot though. 1 vault toilet which was pretty gross. No water. So just be prepared before going out there. The water was clean and we were the only ones out there.

One of our favorite spots

This place does get busy so come early for a good spot. If you stay by the creek, expect mosquitos. It’s a long drive up the hill to get here too but the views on the way are great. Fill up on water when you get to the little ranger station so you don’t have to pack water up the hill.

Good location

Nice being near all the stuff in canyon village. Our spot was one of the better ones in that section. Some were small and basically in the driveway. Ours was a little hilly and we had a view of the road in. But when you’re out exploring all day, who cares

Not enough bear boxes

Very strict about keeping stuff put in bear boxes(for good reason) but they don’t supply enough of them. It appears you get 1 per 10 spots. Very strict on the check in time. So we had to drag our trailer all over Yellowstone to waste time til we could check in. However, we were lucky to snag two nights the morning of due to cancellation. Bathrooms were pretty clean but it sucked that the showers in the park were shut down because of covid. Wouldn’t you want your guests to be clean?

Very pretty campground

Very nice camp host and beautiful campground. A little spendy for what they had to offer us. We ended up not staying because it was $30 for us to park in gravel in the middle of their lot. The cabins and tents looked really nice but were booked up for the night.

3 spots

Only 3 sites available and they were all taken by people that seem to park their trailers and leave. I’d rate it higher but there was no extra spots for us to camp. No pit toilets either.

Not a campground

It appears this was at one time a campground. Now overgrown and has one pit toilet that has been neglected.

Great views

I love that it was first come first serve. There were plenty of spots since this is a pretty large campground. Normal bathrooms with toilets and sinks. It was clean and well maintained. And only 2 miles from the base of devils tower. Definitely worth the $20 night fee

Super nice

We don’t normally camp at fancy places like a koa but we were needing a spot on our way to Yellowstone. The hosts were super nice, everything was clean and there was a nice hot shower.

Not a campground

The gate was shut and there were giant boulders blocking the road in.
