What to do
Hiking trails with waterfall views: Liberty Lake Regional Park features several miles of hiking trails with varying difficulty levels. "We stayed at 2 different sites over 3 weeks, and both were level. There is a clean shower/bathroom building and a beach within walking distance of the campground. Several hiking trails, including an equestrian trail, waterfall, fishing and lots of wildlife," notes Joel R. from Liberty Lake Regional Park.
Lake activities beyond swimming: Newman Lake area offers fishing opportunities from designated docks. At Wolf Lodge Campground, visitors can experience water recreation on nearby Lake Coeur d'Alene. "River access from the campground to Coeur d'Alene lake. Close to the city. Beautiful area. Interstate noise is not too bad," reports Nancy C.
Wildlife viewing opportunities: The region supports diverse wildlife populations. Liberty Lake Regional Park offers regular wildlife encounters according to reviewers: "While we were there the campground hosts did a fantastic job of keeping everything clean and tidy. Several hiking trails, including an equestrian trail, waterfall, fishing and lots of wildlife. There were deer in the campground every day, we saw moose, owls, pilated woodpecker, and hawks."
What campers like
Quiet camping close to urban areas: Many campers appreciate the sense of seclusion despite proximity to Spokane. "Cute and feels remote, but close to town. The campground is close to the water and lots of picnic areas. The RV spots are pretty close, but is surrounded by nature and trails," says Theresa G. from Liberty Lake Regional Park.
Convenient amenities: Camp Coeur D Alene offers numerous on-site amenities that campers appreciate. "This campground was super cozy and safe. They had firewood for sale, a pool, and clean showers and bathrooms. We had a very comfortable stay and were able to connect to the wifi at our tent site," reports Sienna V.
Range of accommodation options: The Newman Lake area provides both traditional camping and upscale glamping. Camp Coeur D Alene offers varied options: "This CG has everything you can ask for from Kayaks on lake CDA to shower, laundry etc and more than one. Everyone is very friendly and just want you to have a good time! Camp sites are well thought out and they have something for everyone at reasonable prices," shares James C.
What you should know
Seasonal considerations: Liberty Lake Regional Park has a defined operating season. "Only reason I am not giving this five stars that's because it runs between 35 to 75 a night to stay there ranging from camping to full RV hookup. However, it is very close to Spokane and has beautiful hiking trails, a beach where you can swim and kayak and canoe and fish, birds and wildlife around singing beautifully day and night," notes Steve M.
Site selection strategy: Bowl and Pitcher Campground in Riverside State Park requires careful site selection. "Sites one through 18 are on the river and much more spacious and have full utilities. We enjoyed the beauty of the Spokane River, walking across the suspension bridge and hiking the trails," advises Lisa K.
