Hawk Creek Campground is tucked back from the lake on Hawk Creek. The campground is popular, but small enough to feel private and secluded. A small waterfall adds ambiance to this beautiful and unique campground. Hawk Creek is close to Fort Spokane Visitor Center, but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle. A courtesy dock provides access to Lake Roosevelt.

A small boat ramp provides access to the water. This is a popular place to fish, bird watch, kayak, canoe or simply take a hike through the ravine to the confluence where Hawk Creek meets the Columbia River.__

    Ravenwood RV Resort

    Best Rv park near Silverwood

This place is an absolute gem! All sites now have full hook-ups with water, power and sewer and every site has both 30/50amp. No showers but who needs that when you have full hook-ups. They have a beautiful pool, basketball court, volleyball area and small playground. They even have a shuttle to Silverwood! One the most beautifully kept RV parks we've ever stayed in with spacious sites with grassy area and picnic table at each site. Highly recommend 👌

    Not much to do...

Well, it was a beautiful area , with great scenery but if you have kids under 10 yrs old there is absolutely nothing for them to do. I mean NOTHING. We won't go back. We never saw a single staff member or volunteer in 3 days.

    Camp Coeur d'Alene

Great little private campground in the Wolf Lodge Bay.

This is a great little private campground in the Wolf Lodge Bay, and their added free amenities made this campground a really fun alternative to the usual state park/national forest campsites I go to more often. The swimming pool was well kept, and we really enjoyed using the free canoes. They had a lot of decent looking free firewood, but we were camping during a fire ban and weren't able to use it. (This, of course, is no fault of the campground. But if we camp there again it will be nice to have free firewood!)

We originally booked tent site 3, which I cannot recommend as it had no shade or privacy, but the attendant was very kind and let us switch to a shadier site for free. I think this was tent site 4 or 5, which were much better. Tent site seven looked really nice as well and I would recommend that one. But if we go back we will definitely be booking the island tent site 201, it looked to be the best one of all.

Bowl and Pitcher Campground — Riverside State Park

Wonderful Spokane campsite in a gorgeous state park!

I love camping at Bowl and Pitcher at least once a year. It's a well kept campground in a gorgeous state park with great hiking and walking trails! I strongly suggest campsite 24 for tent campers, it is the one I always get when I camp here. It is large, nicely shaded, and more private than a lot of the other campsites at the campground.

    WARNING. DO NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS

I tried to cancel a reservation. Last week, no one answered the phone. They didn't respond to email. And as of today, their phone is disconnected. Another source stated they were in bankruptcy (unconfirmed).

Porcupine Bay Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

    Early May Camping

This camping spot is conveniently located off a well groomed gravel road just a mile or so from the main paved road. It’s the first campsite we came to as we drove into Lake Roosevelt. There were a couple other campers, but it wasn’t crowded at all. The only downfall is the sites are really close to one another. But the lake and beach are huge and there’s plenty of room for your dogs to play. There’s Fire pits and picnic tables for each designated camp site. Sometimes even a little firewood. We pulled our pop-up camper into site 7 which was perfect. Then we fished and enjoyed the evening under the stars.

Hawk Creek Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

    Nice Little Campground

I occasionally go down here for fishing. Nice little campground. Easy access to the water. The waterfall really flows in the spring, but slows as summer sets in. Fishing was decent. The boat launch is only available during high water. When Grand Coulee starts letting the water down in Lake Roosevelt the Hawk Creek boat launch gets closed. Don’t worry there are a few other boat launches within a short drive (10-15 minutes).

    Liberty Lake Regional Park

    Nice quiet hidden campground

This is our 3rd visit to Liberty Lake Regional Park. It’s a small campground on Liberty Lake just east of Spokane WA. It’s a little hard to get to, and not suitable for large Class A motorhomes!

There are 16 regular RV sites with water & electric, and they have added 3 sites on top of the hill with full hookups. Also 12 tent sites. Close to Spokane. Hiking and horse trails.

    Camp Coeur d'Alene

Very small spaces with a sardine like feeling

Very nice front desk staff unfortunately the person who designed the campground tried to squeeze every possible inch into a site. Your neighbors look directly into your RV. It would be a great spot if they had about 1/3 rd less sites. Pricey for such small sites. We got a 50x20 site and we had to tip the picnic table on its side to fit in. Our rig fully expanded easily fits into a site much smaller than this.

    Nice Little Campground

Great little campground on a meadow behind Liberty Lake. Bathrooms, showers, and a sink for dishes available. Sites aren't super private, but have adequate space. Felt very safe for solo camping. Great halfway between Rainier and Glacier.

Chatcolet Campground — Heyburn State Park

    Perfect access to bike trail

We picked this campground for its access to the Trail of the Coeur D’Alenes. The campground is small and peaceful, at least mid week. Lovely views of the lake through the trees. The toilets are flush, but look like outhouses from the outside. A pleasant surprise when you get in.

    Camp Coeur d'Alene

    Awesome place!

We stayed for a night with our cab over camper. Site 204 was great cause it was secluded and out of view from every other camp site and up a little hill with a “cliff” and full hook ups. They offer free firewood and anything on site is complimentary, first come first service and such as far as boats and other fun toys. Next time we’re through, we’ll definitely be staying here.

    Camp Coeur d'Alene

    10/10

This was my second time camping here. Was happy to return with my family this time. Well ran, but busy place. Free firewood is much appreciated. Dog friendly. Was great to catch up laundry (located directly across from the pool) while the kids swam. All facilities are clean. Free access to peddle boats & canoes to take out on the lake as well as life vest.

IT'S JUST OK A PLACE TO PARK

We stayed here for 2 months, nice quite place close to Bayview ID, and next to the Post Office. The down side NO WIFI! You have to go into Bayview for WIFI or subscribe to the parks landline service(Spectrum). Bayview has a few nice restaurants.

Gilmore Campground — Farragut State Park

    So over priced

We were not able to stay at Gilmore because it was closed for the season so we stayed across the street at the Peterson campground. The sites were nice but basic. Sites had running water, fire pit, and picnic table. The sites were also very close together. The showers were closed for the season and the bathrooms were not well maintained. They had no toilet paper, lots of bugs, and the lights were out. We got there late and had to pay in the morning. Had we known the cost, we would not have stayed. With the site fee and a required day pass recreation free to the park, it cost $74 for one night. That is insanely overpriced. If amenities are going to be closed and not well maintained during the slow season, they need to lower the price. Would not stay again.

    Great little camp

Nice camp set in the woods. Close to I 90, but far enough away to be pretty quiet. Great scenery. Free fire pit wood. Free canoe use. Nice facilities. Wanted to stay longer.

    Camp Coeur d'Alene

    Very nice family campground

Lots of amenities including pool, bathrooms, hot showers, fire pits with free wood and free access to canoes. The sites are small and close together but being at different levels you get some privacy. Giant pines also provided shades that was quite welcome.

One of the reason we spent some time there was to ride on "Trail of Coeur D'Alene".  The trail was not close enough to ride from the campground but could be reach by car in about 20 minutes.

Guide to Spokane

Camping near Spokane, WA, offers a mix of beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly spot or a peaceful retreat, there are plenty of campgrounds to choose from.

What to do:

  • Hiking and biking trails: Explore the numerous trails around the area. One camper mentioned, “It’s a well-kept campground in a gorgeous state park with great hiking and walking trails!” at Bowl and Pitcher Campground — Riverside State Park.
  • Fishing and swimming: Enjoy the water at Lake Spokane Campground—Riverside State Park. A visitor shared, “The swim area doesn’t appear to be toddler-friendly as it isn’t a gradual incline into the water,” so keep that in mind if you have little ones.
  • Wildlife watching: Campers at Hog Lake Campground have spotted deer and other wildlife. One reviewer noted, “We took a little hike and saw a buck with a big rack on it, other deer, and a coyote.”

What campers like:

  • Clean facilities: Many campers appreciate well-maintained bathrooms. A reviewer at Spokane KOA Journey said, “Bathrooms are ok... but lots of campers,” indicating that cleanliness is a priority even with high traffic.
  • Friendly staff: Campers often mention the helpfulness of campground hosts. One visitor at Liberty Lake Regional Park said, “The potential for yahoos is low. In fact, it was neat, tidy, and quiet when we visited.”
  • Scenic views: Campgrounds like Beauty Creek Campground offer lovely surroundings. A camper remarked, “Not too far outside of Coeur d’Alene but feels secluded!”

What you should know:

  • Close quarters: Some campgrounds have sites that are pretty close together. A visitor at Dragoon Creek Campground mentioned, “The loops part of this campground have the sites close together with no privacy.”
  • Noise levels: If you’re sensitive to noise, be aware that some campgrounds are near roads or train tracks. A camper at Spokane KOA Journey warned, “Be aware that there is a train that runs by very close to the camping spots.”
  • Limited amenities: Some campgrounds, like Hog Lake Campground, don’t have drinking water or electric hookups. A reviewer noted, “There is a porta potty too,” so plan accordingly.

Tips for camping with families:

  • Choose the right campground: Look for family-friendly spots like Liberty Lake RV Campground. One family shared, “The dog park was absolutely amazing, one of the best.”
  • Plan activities: Make sure to have a list of activities to keep kids entertained. A camper at Lake Spokane Campground mentioned, “The park by the lake was very well taken care of as most of the campers there spent the day swimming.”
  • Pack snacks and drinks: Having food on hand can make a big difference. A reviewer at Thousand Trails Little Diamond noted, “The staff was friendly, as were guests,” which can help create a welcoming atmosphere for families.

Tips from RVers:

  • Check site sizes: Make sure your RV fits the campground's sites. A visitor at Blackwell Island RV Park said, “The sites are close to others which for us isn’t a big deal but don’t expect isolation.”
  • Bring extra hoses and cords: Some campgrounds have hookups at the front of the sites, so be prepared. A camper at Newport Little Diamond Lake KOA advised, “You will need them.”
  • Be aware of amenities: Not all campgrounds have full amenities. A reviewer at Liberty Lake RV Campground mentioned, “Lacking: Laundry, Sewer hookup, WiFi,” so plan your stay accordingly.

Camping near Spokane, WA, has something for everyone, whether you're looking for a quiet getaway or a fun family adventure.
