Within the Army Corps of Engineers' Greers Ferry Recreation Area, Sugar Loaf operates as a seasonal campground from mid-May through mid-September. The 93 sites spread across wooded terrain near Greers Ferry Lake, with 57 offering electrical hookups and pricing ranging from $16 for non-electric to $18 for electric sites.
The campground accommodates RVs up to 200 feet with both electric and water hookups available. Sites near the water, particularly in the D loop, provide lake views with Sugar Loaf Mountain as a backdrop. N I. notes "the swimming beach has sand and an amazing view of Sugarloaf Mountain." The wooded setting provides shade throughout most sites, with adequate spacing between campsites for privacy.
A sandy swimming beach, boat ramp, and marina support water activities on Greers Ferry Lake. The campground includes flush toilets, showers, dump station, and fish cleaning facilities. Rangers patrol regularly day and night. Campers can access nearby Van Buren Park and other camping spots around Higden for additional options in the area.
Reservations through Recreation.gov are recommended, especially for waterfront sites which fill quickly during peak season.
