Three miles off Highway 118 on a rocky, unpaved road, Tierra del Sol Basecamp sits in open desert terrain in the Terlingua area, roughly 20 miles from the entrance to Big Bend National Park. Wind is a consistent factor here, worth factoring into campfire and tent plans. The site runs $20 per night, accommodates RVs up to 20 feet, allows pets and alcohol, and has a compost outhouse on-site. Reservations are available, and the owner provides written directions that reviewers found useful for navigating the access road. Dark sky conditions make nighttime the main draw.
