Our College has organize a trip is very joyful.
Krause Springs: Temporarily closed till February 16, 2024. Historic Texas camping& swimming site nestled in Spicewood, 30 miles from Austin. Ehall pass
Been here a few times now. We camp all the way down back next to the creek (which was stagnant). It's definitely more peaceful and scenic than the other sites, but also places you as far away as you can be from any facilities if you need them. From the site you can walk to the swimming hole which is cool. The walk over is a bit uneven so if you're not balanced you gotta be a little careful. The swimming hole is cool but gets crowded on hot days, particularly weekends, and when crowded it isn't always super clean due to shitty people. They don't do reservations so you can just pull up early afternoon and camp for as long as you like. Overall, it's nice for a quick/last-minute escape from Austin, but I wouldn't make it a destination for a roadtrip or anything.
Cars and trucks come and go all day and night, stirring up a lot of dust because they're too lazy to walk to the bathroom or set up their own breakout game. That is not what I mean by camping.
Beautiful natural springs in the hill country. Family owned property that has gorgeous gardens and swimming.
Spent the day at Krause jumping off rocks, sitting under the cool waterfall, and flying through the air on their giant rope swing. This is a great place for families and friends. The staff was welcoming and they offer a wide array of tent and RV campsites. Cool, spring-fed water refreshed everyone on our group on a hot summer day in Texas
Cars/trucks coming and going all day/night kicking up tons of dust because they're too lazy to just walk to the bathroom or set up their own bathroom. That's not what I call camping. If you have to start up your truck and drive down the road kicking up tons of dust so that it only takes 30 seconds instead of 3 or 4 minutes by foot, you're not camping. Terry, the hostess is a wonderful person and the place is beautiful, but The joy is dampened by the clowns that think they're camping by driving their trucks around every time they have to go to the bathroom. Terry, the hostess did mention that it's better than the alternative of having some of these party-going campers going to the bathroom in the woods and at the campsites.
We loved it. It was our first time EVER tent camping on our own, and we really enjoyed our time at Krause Springs. There were tons of camp spots, but it didn’t feel crowded at all. We walked around the property and were stunned at how beautiful the waterfall and spring swimming area were. I personally was a little bit disappointed that there wasn’t a hiking trail there.. if you wanted to walk around, your options were down by the creek (maybe .25 - .5 miles of hike-like terrain) or on the main roads, passing other people’s camp sites. Krause Springs is a great option if you want to swim, or if you are fine with just hanging out at your own camp site.
This place was wonderful. Spent hours just floating in the springs and natural spring pool. Kids can jump off the small Cliffside or fly on the rope swing. If you like nature this is a dream spot. We stayed 2 nights in our class c during the week so it was not too crowded. My only warning is low hanging trees everywhere. I couldn't imagine trying to navigate the campground in a 5th wheel or class A. You could do some rooftop damage.
A go to spot for swimming. They have both a pool and the prong that you can swim in, along with an awesome waterfall and a jump off point from a cliff. Very family friendly.
They also have this amazing garden that is like an oasis’s. So many statues and hammocks, a perfect place to relax and have a meal at.
Natural springs w/tent & RV camping (NO PETS), fishing, kayaking, lake access, hammock areas and day use picnic w/grills. CASH ONLY FACILITIES!! Family owned. Beautiful Butterfly garden great for yoga, reading or enjoying the mind of a gardener. Several RV w/H20 & electric hookups (reservations required). Tent sites are not #, random locations (30 acres), plentiful and 1st come 1st serve. Toilets/showers near RV sites, portable toilets farther out. Pack it in/out, dumpster at office area. Love this place and grateful the owners share their haven with the public!
small Rv caping, wonderful water hole but extremely slippery
weekends are super busy so if yoso fan manage during the week it’s better but it is knockout gorgeous.
the water is super cold and be sure to take water shoes or something. it’s all a natural rock pool with spring-fed water so the floor of the pool is very unpredictable and pretty slippery.
there’s a beautiful cave under the water fall and a huge rope swing as well that is fun!
One of my all-time favorites. I happily drive over three hours to camp here... Dogs are not allowed, but service dogs are. Just call them in advance and let them know. It is CASH ONLY. Also, be careful how far you venture. It’s easy to accidentally trespass on someone else’s unfenced property (is just across from the spring).
Bring a floatie! It’s a great place for a Texas summer camp.
Where do I start? Hey cool spot. But over crowded. Less the type of folk i want my kids hanging with. The ladder down is super wonky and the beach area extremely slippery. The turnoff is more the folks that come... kind of trashy.. lots of drinking. Definiteltly swim at your own risk. If youre young and not hugely a family person and like to party thos is awesome.... sorry. Dont mean to be negative. Its a great place young stupid people ruined....
I have tent camped here but they also have RV camping. There are two waterfalls. The main falls starts by flowing into a topside traditional pool down to a natural pool below. There's a small cave behind it. I recommend using a headlamp to check it out. There have been snake sightings. The creek extending from the swimming area eventually leads to Lake Travis. There's a trail that goes along the creek for awhile, past the second waterfall and some nifty formations on the cliffs. There's a rope swing for jumping into the water. Fun to watch the kids. The set up is grand. Picnic tables, nice restrooms, shady campsites, and gardens to explore near the owners' house where you check in. Can get crowded on the weekends. Some events held here like fireworks & camping for 4th of July.
