Southlake RV Park

Not a fun stay. Not a fun review to write. :/

Stayed 4 days in A32; the last site on the lake view row.

Before booking this campground you may want to know a few things we didn't:

  • The entire campground is monthly renters except for a few sites along the lake. If they were taken care of that may not be a bad thing, but they were not as most were mildewed, covered in leaves, and many had dead vehicles parked about.
  • A32's view of the lake was obscured by a huge mound of cedar mulch that was infested with stink bugs. And an electrical tower was less than 20 feet from the site and totally ruined any view of the cove.  The next door sites do have a good view tho.
  • The stink bugs were so bad we abandoned our outdoor time and just hung out inside our camper.
  • The sewer is located on an actual incline from the camper sewer outlet. We tried to position our camper to where the drainage could be better but the site was too narrow to adjust enough to overcome the issue.  Ew.
  • The water spigot is so far away that it took two water hoses to reach it. Thankfully we had an extra one on board. Not sure, but think it may be between the distance and the fast leak around the on/off knob is why the pressure was so low.
  • There was no fire ring or picnic table. But with so many stink bugs we decided cooking or eating outside wasn't an option, so didn't really miss them.
  • It was the last week of September.  This campground is very Halloween centric! It may be a bit unfair to list the decor as a negative, but when I say there was a lot.... there was A LOT of cheap plastic horror scenes strewn about.  Had it been taken care of after bad weather maybe it would have not seemed so tasteless, but hey, I doubt Ole Bone's cares if his femur is in one campsite and his ribs are in another! haha

This campsite was a real bust for us; four wasted camping days.  Had I read this review while considering where to stay I would have saved $170.

Since the refund policy is not in favor of the disappointed here, maybe this review will give insight to A32's details that may effect your stay as well.

There are a couple of positives worth mentioning:

  • It is very close to downtown Knoxville! We spent much time at Market Square and Old Town. So much fun!
  • Compared to the other private campsites I considered, this one costs less.
