Horse camping near Bartlett, TN includes two campgrounds that accommodate equestrian travelers, though neither offers dedicated horse corrals or the permanent equestrian infrastructure typical of purpose-built horse-friendly campgrounds. The Agricenter International RV Park in Memphis offers full hookup sites with electric, sewer, and water connections for RV campers. While not featuring dedicated horse corrals, the property encompasses part of the larger Agricenter International complex, which hosts various agricultural events including occasional equestrian activities. The campground provides standard RV amenities with 50-amp electrical service, drinking water, and sanitary dump facilities. The sites are arranged in a buddy system format where RVs face neighboring units with minimal privacy between spaces. The bathrooms are located in the farmer's market building outside the main camping area, with inconsistent cleanliness reported in facilities.

Located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Memphis, Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground provides an alternative option with tent and RV sites that include water and electric hookups. The property permits campfires, unlike the Agricenter which prohibits open flames. Neither facility advertises permanent horse corrals or dedicated equestrian camping areas typical of horse-friendly campgrounds. The campground maintains a quiet atmosphere due to its primarily long-term worker population rather than recreational campers. Its position near the police academy contributes to the secure environment, though the exposed terrain offers minimal protection from weather elements and limited recreational opportunities for visitors traveling with families.

      Kellys Crossing Campground

      Not really a campground

This is more of a boat ramp than a campground. There are a couple of picnic tables with an few areas to set up tents. The positive is that you won’t be fighting a lot of other campers to be able to stay here. The access to the lake is nice. Would be a good spot to go if you needed to get away for some solitude.

Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground

Work Campground (very few recreational campers)

We stayed here for ~2.5 months.  Will detail good/bad comments below:

      Good

      1. Owner.  Wes.  He is awesome.

      2. Safety. This is next to police academy, and has several students living in it - never felt danger here.

      3. Away from it all.  But still close to Memphis.  About 15 minutes to downtown, but within cell service.

      Bad

      1. Workers mainly.  Ton of construction, trade, and 0500-1700 workers.  This was great from a sleeping standpoint (no one was ever loud) but kids didn't have a scene so to speak.

      2. Exposed.  In the sun, rain, wind, etc.  It was an old mobile-home park, so very exposed to elements.

      Kellys Crossing Campground

      Quiet Primitive Campground

This is an off the beaten path area for standard recreation. It’s technically a boat ramp that accesses Arkabutla Lake with picnic and camping areas nearby. The bulletin board has primitive camping rules and guidelines to follow. The fee has been reduced to free, so enjoy but be respectful! I am visiting at the end of December, so there are hardly any other persons around besides the fishermen out on the water. Private property is close by and you have to travel past them to get to the public day use area so also be aware of that.

      Agricenter International RV Park

Close to a lot of attractions but mostly buddy sites

This is the kind of RV park that you come to to go look at the close attractions. Almost all of the sites are buddy sites where your front door is facing your neighbor's. There is no privacy at all and we actually ran into a problem with our "buddy neighbor". The problem was taken care of by the manager of the park but those are things to keep in mind. They are full hookup sites and offer up to 3 months of stay. We gave it only 3 stars because this is not the kind of park we are used to, we are used to more open sites.

The bathrooms are quite a walk if you are further into the park. There are 2 restrooms with a shower in each. One bathroom was really clean and had a nicely tiled shower. The other bathroom was always dirty and wasn't updated like the other one. The bathrooms are actually located in the farmer's market building which isn't in the RV park itself.

Local attractions: The Farmer's Market (it's an easy walk from the park), Graceland (was about 30-40 min from the park), The Miami Zoo (was about 20 min from the park). I am sure there are a lot more but we weren't able to get to them in the time that we stayed.

      Agricenter International RV Park

      Safe place to stay

It is definitely not the nicest Park we have been to- laundry facilities are run down, two of the dryers will tear up your clothes, and the bathrooms are never clean. They are working on adding gravel to the spaces, right now though when it rains you are in a swamp. The spaces are also very close together. All that being said, not a terrible monthly price, the trash cans are shared and the wifi is slow in the evening, but you're not paying extra for that or water or power. It is quiet, everyone keeps to themselves, they say it is 3 month maximum but I do know of some who are staying longer. It is in the nicer part of Memphis, so if you are looking for a safe place to stay here, this is it. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in the country, it is not.

      Agricenter International RV Park

      Parking Lot

This is basically a parking lot for RV’s, not a campground. Campers are stacked on top of each other. I would only recommend this place if you are working an event at the Agricenter or if you are passing through town and desperate for a place to stay.

    Guide to Bartlett

Camping options near Bartlett, Tennessee sit within the region's gently rolling terrain characterized by oak-hickory forests and open meadows. The area experiences hot, humid summers and mild winters with occasional rainfall. Most established campgrounds in this region operate year-round due to the favorable climate, though spring and fall offer more comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities.

    What to do

Equestrian events at Agricenter: Though not offering dedicated horse corrals at the RV park, the Agricenter International complex hosts various agricultural events including horse shows throughout the year. "Full hookups and convenient location. We have stayed there several times," notes Brent M. about Agricenter International RV Park.

Downtown Memphis exploration: Campers can reach downtown Memphis attractions in about 15 minutes from most campgrounds. "Away from it all. But still close to Memphis. About 15 minutes to downtown, but within cell service," explains Paul C. about his stay at Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground.

Farmers market shopping: The Agricenter hosts a year-round farmers market with local produce and crafts within walking distance of the campground. "The Farmer's Market (it's an easy walk from the park)" is listed as a local attraction by M E., who stayed at Agricenter International RV Park.

    What campers like

Security and safety: The location provides peace of mind for travelers with valuables. "It is in the nicer part of Memphis, so if you are looking for a safe place to stay here, this is it," writes Nikki R. about their experience at Agricenter International RV Park.

Quiet atmosphere: Many campers appreciate the low noise levels, especially important after long travel days. "Workers mainly. Ton of construction, trade, and 0500-1700 workers. This was great from a sleeping standpoint (no one was ever loud)," shares Paul C. about Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground.

Flexible check-in: Late arrivals can be accommodated with advance notice at some locations. "Got us in late held our spot," mentions Anthony G. about his experience at Agricenter International RV Park.

    What you should know

Limited bathroom facilities: Access to restrooms may require walking a considerable distance depending on your site location. "The bathrooms are quite a walk if you are further into the park. There are 2 restrooms with a shower in each," cautions M E. about the setup at Agricenter International RV Park.

Weather exposure: The open terrain offers little protection from elements, particularly at former mobile home parks converted to campgrounds. "Exposed. In the sun, rain, wind, etc. It was an old mobile-home park, so very exposed to elements," warns Paul C. about conditions at Cook's Lake.

Site spacing concerns: RV sites at some locations place units very close together, limiting personal space. "Campers are stacked on top of each other. I would only recommend this place if you are working an event at the Agricenter or if you are passing through town and desperate for a place to stay," advises Shana D. about the Agricenter setup.

    Tips for camping with families

Limited recreational options: Families should bring their own entertainment as some campgrounds lack dedicated play areas. "Kids didn't have a scene so to speak," notes Paul C. about the family-friendliness of Cook's Lake RV Resort and Campground.

Plan day trips: Use the campground as a base for exploring nearby attractions rather than as a destination itself. "This is the kind of RV park that you come to to go look at the close attractions," explains M E., mentioning that "Graceland (was about 30-40 min from the park), The Miami Zoo (was about 20 min from the park)" are accessible from Agricenter.

Consider seasonal timing: Spring and fall offer more comfortable temperatures for family camping in this region, avoiding summer heat and humidity that can make outdoor activities challenging with children.

    Tips from RVers

Buddy system awareness: The layout at some campgrounds places RVs directly facing one another, creating potential privacy issues. "Almost all of the sites are buddy sites where your front door is facing your neighbor's. There is no privacy at all and we actually ran into a problem with our 'buddy neighbor'," cautions M E. about the setup at Agricenter International RV Park.

Prepare for wet conditions: Drainage can be problematic at some sites, especially during rainy periods. "They are working on adding gravel to the spaces, right now though when it rains you are in a swamp," warns Nikki R. about the ground conditions at Agricenter International.

Consider alternative uses: Some locations better serve as overnight stops than destination camping. "This is basically a parking lot for RV's, not a campground... I would only recommend this place if you are working an event at the Agricenter or if you are passing through town and desperate for a place to stay," advises Shana D.
