Clean and private
Private spots with great access to surrounding area. Beach access walking distance from all the sites. I would have given the campsite five stars but roads are narrow and with long trailers or RV’s it is tight getting in.

Beautiful location, just a short walk to the beach. The only downside is it is very crowded. We stayed two nights in two different spots - in C loop and A loop. Barking dogs and raccoons rustling around in the trees in C loop and in A loop, our neighbors let their baby cry all night. While obviously not the camp manager's fault, the guest noise did affect our enjoyment. It was around labor day, so I guess to be expected somewhat? The beach views and experience nearly made up for it though. Trash has to be thrown away up near the camp entrance, and while not an issue for responsible campers others don't understand leaving trash out in your site = raccoons and unwelcome guests. Was able to get low service with T-Mobile and campfires are allowed.

We come here every year. It’s a crowded campground but stays pretty quiet. I like that the beach is just over the hill and is quite pretty.

We picked a tent spot based on the online map - not too bad but there are definitely some better, more secluded spots. No matter where you land, the ocean is an easy stroll. T-Mobile signal was a little spotty, but I was usually able to get a medium signal with a little effort.
Campground is just behind a bluff from the beach, so can’t hear waves but it’s less than 5 minutes away and no roads to cross. Clean toilets and showers. State campground, so standard fees and amenities. Several campfires on the beach, kids having a blast. Nice mist rolled in at night. The walk to the bay inlet is about 4.5 miles out, 9 miles round trip.
Beautiful campgrounds, right on the coast with beach access and close hiking trails. Choose your camp site wisely. We stayed in the A loop, sites were small and for most of them, absolutely no privacy. Nothing separates you from the people to your right or left except a spit of sand. You can’t see the ocean because the dunes/ vegetation block it. We cruised the other loops and next time - and there will be a next time because it’s lovely- we will select another loop and farther from the beach. All the loops are a short walk to beach access. People were respectful and quiet during quiet hours and when the campground is full, that means a lot.
Cape Lookout State Park has it all! Beautiful beach, check! Amazing hiking trails, check! Nice variety of site types (cabins, yurts, tent and RV), check! We've camped here many times and always enjoyed ourselves. Though every site was full when we stayed for a couple of nights at the beginning of August, we had enough elbow room to feel comfortable.
Our only disappointment was that the trailhead from the campground to the cape was closed due to a landslide. So we tried to make the best of it by riding our folding bikes 2 miles up the steep road to the day use area. It's a short but strenuous ride with spectacular views down the coastline at Anderson's Viewpoint, which has also long been a popular launch for hang gliders and paragliders. When arrived at the day use area, we discovered there were no bike racks, so we were unable to lock our bikes and do the hike. I left feedback about this with the ranger station staff, and fingers crossed they'll install some bike racks in the future since the trail from the campground could take years to repair.

Nice campground near the coast. Was very foggy and it turned into a rainy overcast day

Nice campground near Tillamook. The campground was pretty cold in late July, and seemed to stay much colder than the surrounding cities of Tillamook/Oceanside, so it’s hard to predict weather using an app. It did rain which was unexpected, so come prepared. The hike to the cape was absolutely beautiful, but was harder than stated and extremely muddy, so again, come prepared. Nice beach access throughout the campground. Our site was a good size and backed up right to the forest, but unfortunately there was no privacy from site to our left. Loops nearest to ocean were very, very tiny. We stayed in C loop, which had more space and quite a bit of shelter from the wind. The campground was very busy and heavily trafficked, but stayed pretty quiet and peaceful through the day, aside from the occasional bike-riding child. benefits of this campground: showers, flushing toilets, access to decently priced wood and ice at the entrance, awesome beaches and very family friendly- would be good for little ones. I would recommend utilizing the pre-registration process through reservation.gov, because the check-in process at the entrance seemed to be a bit slow.

Busy campground, but good for a quick overnight.

Such a well maintained campsite. Clean, hot showers. Plenty of restrooms. Beautiful sites! Beach access. Plenty of day camping and overnight.
A Loop does not have beach view, there is land between campsites and coast but it likely keeps some wind down. Campsites were clean and maintained. Camp hosts were good about their cruising around, checking in, and offering firewood for sale. Camp guests were behaved. Both men and women’s restrooms were out of hand soap during our stay. Trash was overflowing on the way out. Will probably try B or C loop next time for more privacy and large trees for hammocks. Campfires on the beach permitted and made for a great time. Fire pit at campsite wad large and clean with grate perfect for cooking.

Love it here. Great beach, great wooded sites, great hikes.

This is a beautiful park. We've stayed here several times over the years. My favorite is when I am able to snag a cabin reservation, but tent camping is also very pleasant here. We're headed back later this summer and I can't wait.
The cabins are located near the day use area, but are back in the trees and feel very private. There used to be only 3, but I believe there are 7 now. They are all spaced apart from each other to not feel like you are right next to anyone. Each cabin has a separate living room space, bedroom, and bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet. The living room space also has a sink, a microwave, and a small fridge. The cabins each have a gas grill on the porch as well.
It's about 50-60 yards through to trees to the beach, so the views from the front rooms and porches is amazing! It's like the best compromise between camping and a motel. The price is right and the location can't be beat.
We have also enjoyed tent camping many times as well. The campsites are well maintained and it's easy to get to the beach from camp.
Definitely recommend this campground.

We happened to be on the Oregon Coast on a Friday night during nice spring weather. The website said there were still a few sites left so we drove there to secure one. It is best to reserve a site but we never do so you can still get a site the day of if you don’t have a reserved site and there are unclaimed sites.
Our site was 65, a tent site, in the full sun near the bathrooms. There are bushes that obscure your next door neighbors but you can see the ones across the road. We could hear the roar of the ocean but it lulled us to sleep. There are trails to the sandy beach.
We paid $21 for a tent site during the off season.

Choose your site carefully to be more secluded. Some sites are open to the elements and some are more protected. Every site is beautiful. It is a large campground. The beach is so fun and beautiful and you can find agates. There’s also a trail right from the campground that goes up to a bluff.
This is such a great State Park. We camped on one of the forest loops and was impressed with how big and private the site was. The restrooms were clean and easy to walk to. It was also an easy and short walk to the beach. We loved watching the sunset on the beach and then walking easily back to our camp.

Easy access, great spots, on the water!
I enjoyed my night here. Reservations are required year-round. It was fairly full when I stayed in mid-March. There is beach access, which is massive and beautiful, but no sites are beach front.
The bathrooms were fine, although the roof seemed like some sort of paper material so after a rainy night I got dripped on quite a bit. The showers were closed due to Covid.
The sites are very private. It seemed like a nice little family spot.

Not crowded and great weather for our early spring stay for a night. Close to the beach with wide open space and very few people. Would return for a multi day trip!

Nice state campground with some full RV hookups. We prefer loop C. There is a man made burm that keeps some wind from coming into the campground. You can walk to the beach and see sunsets and hang gliders coming off the mountain. Lots of hiking. Whiskey creek fish hatchery is nearby and kids will love feeding the lunkers in the pond. Jacobsen salt company is also close by.

Love it! As other reviewers have stated, the location is awesome and situated nicely with easy access to different activities (beach, hiking, etc.). The campsites are on the smaller side but are laid out nicely with a convenient paved driveway for your vehicle. Will return!
If you want to be close to the beach, this a great campground. Super easy to find. 20 mins from the closest Fred Meyer (grocery store). Would recommend and will come back.

Consider choosing a campsite in the wooded areas. The sites near the ocean are in the hot sun. Full hookups Of course are nice, even if you are in a tent. Restrooms have running water and we’re kept very clean by the park staff. We camped in a tent in August, but it was still quite cold at night. A lack of privacy bothered us, but we were gone most of the day. Lots of folks riding bikes, flying kites, walking on the beautiful trails on Cape Lookout. We definitely will go back again.
This campground is nestled in shrubs next to the ocean.
Perks: SO close to the ocean you can hear the waves at night, right next to the beautiful Cape Lookout hike, away from any major roads/towns
Cons: windy and cold on breezy coastal nights due to the proximity to the ocean

This is probably one of the hardest campsites to get a spot at in Oregon, as it is incredibly popular. It's right on the beach, with several camp site backing up against the sand. We had a camp spot a little further back, in the woods. That's nice for shade and protection from the elements, but I imagine the ocean front sites must be quite spectacular to stay at. It's a state campground, so it's very well maintained and has lots of facilities.

We really enjoyed camping here! We could walk to the beach in about 1 minute flat. Nice grassy spot for our tent and stars at night. Basic groceries are 5 miles away in Netarts. Firewood is self serve on site, make sure to bring cash.

I stayed here a few years ago, but it is just a tough place to get a reservation. Unless it is an off weekend/not ideal weather.
Either way, the coast is always beautiful. Rain and clouds or sunshine.
The hike out to cape lookout can also start right at the camp grounds. This adds some miles to the 3 miles it is from the cape lookout trailhead, but the forest along the coast feels so tropical!
Fires were allowed and we enjoyed a cool night by the ocean.
