Awesome Campground

Great spot only an hour and 45 min from Portland! Tent sites and full hookup. Clean restrooms and nice hosts. A lot of nice spots right by the ocean. Listen to it as you fall asleep and wake. Nearby food, townie bars, Maritime Museum, old trains and the Myrtlewood Factory. Lots of fishing and crabbing opportunities as well. One of my favorite overnight trips! Just pack a cooler and go!

Sand dunes, great group sites and beach access

I spent many a year at this campground, letting the kids (who am i kidding, me) run up and down the big sand dune and play on the tree at the top! Bbqs, fires, music, ice cream down the street and fishing off the jetty. Close to Tillamook Cheese Factory.

Family friendly with close beach access

We camped here while searching for a close beach campground. We definitely found that, but it was noisy, and very popular. A definite plus for some and a minus for others. We probably didn't do enough research on our site location, as we were close enough to the playground that our childless group suddenly sounded like it was surrounded by children. It is definitely a popular place, especially for those with sand vehicles as the dunes are nearby.

Plenty of amenities, definite close beach access! Makes for a great chance to catch the sunset over the water. Interestingly enough, the beach was not super crowded.

Great Coastal Campground

Barviews Jetty Campground, is one of the best camping spots. The campground has a combination of tent sites and rv sites. additionally there are cabins available. There are restrooms located throughout the campground, and showers, always clean. Located very close to the beach, super close. There is also FANTASTIC fishing! Pet Friendly! Large campsites! At a lot of camp sites there is even room to have tents and an RV!

Coast-Side Campin'

Nice car camping ocean-side sites with short hikes to the ocean. Big sand beaches. Fun stone jetty to hike and/or fish around. Good spot for day trips and picnics with easy access to the beach. Popular with RV'ers. Usual bathroom facilities on site.

Large Elk wandering through

Barview Jetty is a large campground with a little something for most everyone. Close to the tide pools in Barview, right on the beach, on the entrance to Tillamook Bay. Large clean bathrooms with several hot showers. Some campsites are tucked away into the trees next to a large dune. No highway noise, even though 101 goes right past. Most campsites are right next to each other, but in the off season you can find a quiet corner to yourself. If you get up before the crowds, you will most likely see the large elk browsing on the grassy areas.

Great fishing

We came in the middle of the week to do some fishing and have some family time. The staff at check in where very helpful and helped us change our site when I booked the wrong one. There is a play structure there but it's made for 5 and up not recommended for toddlers. Our campsite was right next to it so it was nice for our oldest. Our site was all sand and we loved it. Our toddler just played and played in it. The campsites are nice and big and private. Bathrooms where we'll kept. There is some nice fishing off the jetty. I caught a monkey faced eel and the hubby caught a black rock bass. Definitely will be returning.

It's On the Beach! Some Sites Way Better Than Others

So the absolute best thing about this whole site is how close it is to the beach, and what a lovely beach it is! There's even sites right on the water (though we didn't have one). You have to be careful, though, of what site you get. While most are okay and you'll probably be just fine, there's some that are much better and some that are much worse. For example, since this is a county park, you might end up right next to the county recycling center (where they store their vehicles). Not horrible, but definitely could be better. The RV sites in general are mostly very basic drive-through spots with a bit of grass (a slightly nicer version of a big parking lot) while the tent spots have a tiny bit more privacy and space around them (though not a ton). There's also a basic store right at the turn-off if you need snacks or ice. All-in-all, fine, basic sites a very short walk to a great beach.

Smaller Sites, Nice Views, Fabulous Water

Barview Jetty is way more than it comes across at first. You're thinking county park… crowded, noisy… and while many of the sites are a bit close together, it's not too bad, + the plethora of beach, mountain and jetty views and adventures make up for it and then some. The jetty itself is windy but the boat and mountain views are fantastic, plus there's a very nice, large beach and happy campers to talk with. There should be more campgrounds along the coast - I think we can all agree on that - but at least there are plenty of campsites here.

Oregon Coast

Hundreds of sites. Kind of crappy place but you can always get a place to pitch at tent (without a reservation) as they have hundreds of campsites. BIG bonus - you can want to you beach!

An alternative in a pinch

Ended up here after getting skunked at Nehalem Falls and Nehalem Bay. Got the last campsite available (it was Friday evening) and as luck would have it it was just a few feet from the ocean!

Campground was comfortable, but had a bit of an 'urban' feel as the campsites were pretty crammed in there. Another issue, which is the main reason I only give three stars, is that there's a buoy at the end of the jetty that let's out a wail every ten minutes or so. A little hard to feel like you're in nature with a siren going off, but you get somewhat used to it.

Huge private campground

I have only stayed in the tent sites here, the first time was over father's day weekend and it was the first campground that had an available site and showers. The second time was a few weeks later and I made a reservation to get one of the few tent sites with an electrical hook-up (and water too!). Check-in is easy and prices are competitive with state campgrounds. I love that check-out isn't until 1:30 pm (check-in is 3:30 pm, but they don't seem to mind early check-ins) which is great since I hate to rush to get things packed up in the morning. I have seen some pretty long lines at check-in though so I recommend getting in before 2 pm or after 4 pm to avoid waiting. This campground is right on Barview Jetty near Rockaway and Garibaldi. There is a large climbable dune just inside the park that is great for exploring and seems to be popular with kids. There are at least two access points to the jetty/beach area that are quick walks, but are also drive-able. There are hundreds of sites, most seem to be camper/RV sites (even a few right by the jetty), but there are a lot of tent sites as well, for how large it is it is a fairly quiet campground and most sites have the standard amount of privacy.

Some of my favorite things: If you like to fish, crab, or clam all three are available either at the campground or within 30 minutes. Tidepools are about .5 mi away, close enough to walk. They have wifi available, but I have yet to try it out. I noticed a fish cleaning station near the entrance which is super handy for cleaning your fresh fish. The employees seemed pleasant both times and were fairly quick to correct noise issues with other campers (after 10 pm), but otherwise let campers be.

There are a few cons, but they are minor: Showers are available, there are three private unisex showers at each restroom complex, but they are pay-showers. The rates are reasonable starting at $0.50 for 4 minutes and each additional quarter adds 2 minutes, change machines are provided outside each restroom complex as well. Firewood is for sale at check-in and at the mini-mart just outside the campground, but it is $6 per bundle so I recommend buying from one of the many roadside wood sellers (usually $5 per bundle). They charge a pet fee per pet, per night, I think it is a few dollars, but I left my pets at home.

Huge campsite with plenty of resources

This campground is loaded with your basic campsites right by the beach. Literally a minutes walk from the beach. The campsites themselves were nothing special; they were very close to each other.

Lots of spots close to ocean

Hundreds (literally hundreds) of spots in this private campground on the coast. Camped there 5 times and never needed a reservation. Sites are close together and not a lot of trees but who cares when you a camping at the ocean and can easily pick up some fresh oysters to throw on the fire - Yum!
