    River West Resort

    Overpriced

Stayed here in Oct 2020. Paid $55/night. They have a stated rig age limit but let us camp with our 1967 camper. Mix of permanent and transient RVs. Standard hookups but no picnic tables or fire rings.

We were placed right next to one of the bathrooms on a busy corner. People and staff kept driving/walking through our site. Leaf blowers/mowers woke us up super early.

Bathrooms were clean but the laundromat was out of order. The park is in town but not really near anything you’d want to walk to except the Truckee river.

Overall, could be nice but our experience was not good. Costs way too much for what you get.

    Virginia City RV Park

Super tight spot some sites way better

We were grateful to get a last minute spot here. The young man in the office who helped us was super nice! Some of the sights on the “valley” side have amazing views!! Ours was not one of these as we got a spot last minute. The lower rating is because the whole park is tight with it looks like 50% long term residents who don’t keep their sites very tidy. Also, 2 of the 4 combo toilet/shower rooms were out of toilet paper and a third one had a clogged toilet. The showers had hot water but look like they could have used a scrub with some vinegar to get rid of all the calcium deposits that made them look not so clean. Also, we couldn’t get the Wi-Fi to work at all. The park was very quiet at night and all the people there seemed nice and respectful of their neighbors. Just not our scene as it was too crowded. I think if you can get one of the sites when a view it may be worth an overnight stop. Virginia City, in spite of the history there, is a tourist trap.

Nevada Beach Campground and Day Use Pavilion

    beautiful campground

This campground was one of the nicest I've come across. It's right on the California-nevada state line near Lake Tahoe. In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful places in the US. A lot of the campsites have a view of the lake. They have sites for tents and RVs. The bathrooms are nice and there's fresh drinking water. There are some public grills to use. Really nice amenities at this place.

I personally just love lake Tahoe. Amazing hiking around the lake. Mount Tallac is a killer but gorgeous hike. Go stand on the line between Nevada and California like I did! In the winter this place is awesome too, because the ski resort has some great runs.

    Whispering River Ranch RV Park

    Such friendly people!

This location is so convenient and easy! Pull through sites that can fit any Rv. Everyone at the front desk was kind and very responsive. The operations manager was so kind as to pick up and deliver our empty propane tanks upon our arrival! Views of the Walker over from the walking trail were perfect. Kids welcome, two nice playgrounds and a pickleball court that they provided rackets for. Each site also has a small grass area. Would definitely come back!!

    Virginia City RV Park

    No internet, no human

Stayed for 2 nights, there was no person available to make reservations or talk to about anything. Also they are charging a ridiculous price and advertising there is wifi but the wifi has no internet.

    Snow on the lake

This was the first stop on my National park road trip. Not an N.P. but it was the perfect distance for my first leg from Eugene,Or.

I got into camp in early afternoon to find it snowing; in early May. I was hoping that I had waited long enough to avoid too much snow. Luckily it stopped just as I was finishing my tent setup. It didn't stick in the campgrounds, but dusted the mountains nicely.

This campground was on the smaller side, I lucked out it being off season, I was able to score a site. At $33 it was a little steeper than I was expecting for a tent site, but It was well worth it. It was a short walk to the sandy lake beach and awesome mountain views. I can only imagine how busy this place gets in the winter. There were hiking trails nearby, unfortunately I hadn't the time or energy as I had to continue on my journey early in the morn. I imagine they would have breathtaking views.

Each site had tables and firepits. I don't recall water bibs, but I had already planned ahead and brought my own. They had a covered group area where I'm sure many weddings have taken place.

There were nice clean flush restrooms and garbage/recycling areas.

Guide to Silver Springs

Cabin accommodations near Silver Springs, Nevada provide rustic lodging options within driving distance of outdoor recreation areas. What to do

River access activities: Walker River Resort offers direct access to the Walker River for fishing and swimming. A visitor noted, "River access for fishing and swimming, golfing in the tumbleweeds, horseshoe pits, access from campground to OHV trails." The resort maintains operational dates from April through October.

OHV trail exploration: Walker River Resort is recognized for extensive off-road vehicle trails. According to one camper, "Famous for its black and forest service atv/utv trails. Pool hot tub bar laundry. At&t and Verizon work well. T-mobile does not." Trail systems connect to remote areas including ghost towns.

Biking opportunities: Truckee River RV Park provides access to regional biking infrastructure. A reviewer mentioned, "There's is a great 'Legacy' bike path that goes all the way to town and Donner lake." This paved route connects camping areas to nearby destinations without requiring vehicle transport.

What campers like

Beach proximity: Nevada Beach Campground offers cabins with Lake Tahoe beach access. A camper observed, "Great location with views of the beach. Walking distance to beach. Sites are spacious enough." The beach areas provide water recreation from mid-May through mid-October.

Pet-friendly options: Nevada Beach Campground includes designated pet areas. One visitor explained, "There is a smaller dog-friendly area of the beach, so if you're bringing your pup(s), your beach access will be limited to that area only." This allows dogs off-leash in specific sections.

Recreational amenities: Walker River Resort maintains multiple on-site activities beyond standard camping. A review stated, "Free Shooting range, Five Stand skeet/trap shooting, River access for fishing and swimming, golfing in the tumbleweeds, horseshoe pits." These facilities supplement cabin accommodations with structured recreation options.

What you should know

Connectivity limitations: Cabin properties have variable internet access. At Walker River Resort, "Wifi is sketchy no over the air TV," though "At&t and Verizon work well. T-mobile does not." Other locations report similar connectivity challenges.

Reservation reliability: Nevada Beach Campground experiences booking system difficulties. One reviewer warned, "Their online system did not sync in a timely fashion with their in-person system. Meaning, when we arrived, the spot we had reserved was being used by someone else." Securing cabins requires advance planning.

Occupancy patterns: Some properties experience significant variations in usage. A Walker River visitor observed, "Campground was empty weekdays, then packed for the weekend." This affects cabin availability and overall camping experience depending on arrival day.

Tips for camping with families

Playground facilities: Truckee River RV Park offers family-oriented amenities. A visitor noted, "Playground for kids, ping pong table foseball table. Sights are a little close but not ridiculous." These recreational options provide structured activities for children.

Seasonal timing: Nevada Beach Campground operates within specific calendar constraints. A camper advised, "We camped the first weekend the campground opened. Things were still a bit wet (standing water that we had to use a board to cross to get to the bathrooms)." Early season visits require preparation for residual winter conditions.

Swimming options: Cabin properties with pool facilities provide controlled swimming environments. Walker River Resort includes "Pool hot tub bar laundry" according to reviews, with facilities primarily operational during weekend periods based on seasonal staffing.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing challenges: Virginia City RV Park cabin areas share space with RV sections. A reviewer cautioned, "The climb up to Virginia City (elevation is over 6100ft) was beautiful in our 39 ft DP, but the site was small. If you have a travel trailer it's a bit better but we felt on top of one another." Site selection impacts privacy levels.

Facility maintenance: Bathroom facilities require monitoring at some properties. One Virginia City visitor reported, "2 of the 4 combo toilet/shower rooms were out of order toilet paper and a third one had a clogged toilet. The showers had hot water but look like they could have used a scrub with some vinegar." Bringing personal supplies addresses potential shortages.

Noise considerations: Truckee River RV Park experiences ambient sounds from nearby transportation routes. A reviewer mentioned "Highway noise" affecting the overall quietness of cabin areas, requiring consideration for light sleepers selecting accommodations.
