Quiet with a beautiful small lake

Well maintained campground. The lake was very pretty and had a wonderful trail around it.

Great family place

This is a great family spot with a nice swimming beach on a lake with slides and diving boards. Great restaurant as well. Kids will love it!

A well kept free dispersed campground

This is a very nice clean in every way dispersed campground. Offers bathrooms that are clean with running water and flush toilets. Picnic tables, lantern hooks, fire rings, grills trash pick up and paved pads to park your rig on paved roads into and through the park. This is a 14 day stay and very…

Beware of 2 sewage hookups

We had sites 3,4 and 5. We were assigned site 3. A nice shaded site with full hookups. The first night our breaker kept tripping. We called and a member of the staff fixed it right of way. All good right? No. When we arrived no one told us of the possibility of two sewage hookups and which one…

Flooding when we went

This is local to us and we’ve been a few times. The last time however a barge flooded the area. Caused some shut downs. Lots to do usually though. Hiking. Boating or kayaking. Playgrounds.

Scouting group enjoyed it

We went in April with our scouting troop. Very busy even then. Lots of small hiking trails. Nothing too fancy. Dollar general 10 minutes down the road if you need anything. Several primitive sites. Our troop made friends with some other kids nearby as well. Great for families or alone.

Made for RVs

If you get a spot on the lake it is definitely worth it but it is more like an RV resort not really made for tent camping. Very well maintained, excellent for fishing. Hardly any cell signal with ATT but better than nothing.

Extremely Peaceful

The customer service was absolutely outstanding! 4 stars only because of lack of amenities for kids, however, they do have games to rent from office. Unfortunately the lake has mostly dried up and no longer hits the shoreline of the campground (apparently been this way for 6 years). They used to…

Nice Peacefull park

This park is a little out of the way but well worth it.  The sites are spacious and spaced well apart.  Almost all of the spots are well shaded .  The whole park is well kept, and so very peaceful. We enjoyed our stay here.

Lovely lake with a view!

We tent camped in the RV park with 4 dogs. Our campsite (10) was perfect- right on the water, plenty of space, nice even pad for our tent & canopy. The neighbors were kind & the bathrooms well maintained. Definitely will stay again. Nice trails too!

Camping in Nature

First things first, don’t follow the GPS! It will take you to the recreation area and you will have to turn around. The campground can’t be seen from the main road. Take side road on left when you see the welcome to Alabama sign on the right. If you are coming from the other direction, you’ll pass…

Amazing, Enjoyable Experience

Lake Lowndes is simply a place that every camper (primitive or RV) has to visit.  The staff from the ranger to the park host to the manager and everyone else is friendly and ready to help in any way.  The sites are paved, large and very easy to back into.  We have stayed at #43, #41, #1, #31 and…

Tombigbee Barges Up Close

Site 129 is directly on the water with a front row seat for watching the boats and barges. Another pleasant COE campground with friendly and helpful staff. Our stay from 3/14-17/21 is overcast with the threat of tornadoes the evening after we depart. The weather discourages us from paddling, but we…

Planes, Barges, Motor Boats and Paddlers

Our stay at site 82 from 3/12/21-3/14/21 is filled with the sounds of people working and playing. Sites are nicely spaced. During the week, we enjoy watching pilots from the Columbus Air Force Base honing their skills. The barges, more frequent during the day, have the occasional after dark run.…
