Horseshoe Island

Accessible only by boat, Horseshoe Island requires paddlers to navigate lake waters to reach this remote camping spot in northern Minnesota. The campground costs $16-$22 per night and allows campfires for evening gatherings.

Sites spread across flat terrain provide space between camping groups, according to recent visitors. The location offers direct lake access for fishing, kayaking, and swimming activities. One camper noted the flat sites held up well during a severe lightning storm, suggesting adequate tree cover for weather protection. Campers planning trips in the region can find places to camp around Winton for additional boat-in options. Pack all supplies in advance since boat access limits resupply opportunities.

Finale night

Was a great campsite for our finale night on the water in the boundary waters and was a great site that was also very spread out and very flat, and it held up great when a huge lightning storm rolled in that very night giving us enough protection from the storm and we never noticed any knocked over trees from the storm
