Within the Chippewa National Forest, Norway Beach - Chippewa Campground Loop sits four miles from Cass Lake, offering 99 sites with electric hookups along a forested shoreline. The US Forest Service manages this drive-in facility from late May through September, though reviewers note the access road can be rough in places.
Large evergreens provide shade across most sites, creating a wooded atmosphere that appeals to tent campers and RV users alike. Reviewers consistently mention site leveling challenges, with one noting they needed "three packs of leveling blocks" for their 30-foot trailer. The electric sites cluster together in groups of three or four, then spread apart with more spacing. Crystal W. found the sites "nicely sized and private" with "ample tree coverage."
Cass Lake's sandy swimming beach extends roughly 300-400 yards from shore at waist-deep levels, making it suitable for families and kayakers. A bike path connects the loops and continues through the broader forest system. The campground lacks dump stations and water fill stations for RVs, requiring trips to other facilities. As Ken J. shared after 14 years of visits, "We have been enjoying the majestic pines and sand beach."
Campers can find pet-friendly campgrounds around Chippewa National Forest throughout the region, though this location's lake access and established amenities make it a solid base for exploring the area.
