Malone Bay Campground sits on Isle Royale, accessible only by boat or seaplane to this remote Lake Superior island. The National Park Service manages this established campground within Isle Royale National Park, where pets are prohibited. Campers reach the site after crossing open water, making advance planning essential for ferry schedules and weather conditions.
The campground provides a base for exploring the island's hiking trails and backcountry areas. Other camping options on the island include Hatchet Lake Campground — Isle Royale National Park and Wood Lake Campground — Isle Royale National Park. Malone Bay works well for campers comfortable with boat-access camping and extended stays on the isolated island.
