Huron National Forest's Reid Lake Semi-Primitive Nonmotorized Area is a hike-in and walk-in campground managed by the US Forest Service, open year-round and accessible only on foot. No motorized vehicles enter the area. The Reid Lake Foot Travel Area sits less than a mile away, making this a reasonable base for campers testing gear on shorter routes before committing to longer treks. Trails run medium difficulty and can become overgrown in spots. Campsites include fire pits, though some pits near certain sites have deteriorated. Open-air outhouses are present but set back from the sites. Water filtration is essential: mosquito activity along the lake shorelines is heavy, particularly in early summer. Trash service is available, and pets and alcohol are permitted. This campground works best for self-sufficient campers comfortable with minimal infrastructure.
