This was our first camping here and we really enjoyed our stay in the campground. The campground manager was very friendly and helpful and our site was clean with a nice fire pit with built-in grill and very clean. Lots of shower stalls in the shower house. We will definitely be back!
Ok for one night. Seems like there were many long term residents there. Noisy with dogs barking, motorcycles, and swearing.
Thank goodness Michael answered phone
Happy to help.us out
No pull through Electric only Small clean park
Decided to just park in parking lot and leave tow on
Leaving early in the morning
This campground hosts many permanent or monthly campers, as evidenced by semi permanent structures, fences etc. There is a small lake that offers swimming and fishing, but we did not use this area. It is a huge area, with 4 shower and bathroom facilities, but they were old and needed…
The park is clean, quiet, has a camp store, and average shower and restrooms. The beach is a short half mile walk away, and the 3 dunes challenge hike trailhead is here. We were only able to get one night here, and the next place we stayed at in the area was a big letdown.
Well thought out campground in the middle of the suburbs. You can actually forget that you are in the middle of a very urban area. If your looking to camp near Chicago, this is the spot! Only complaint is you get locked in an hour after sunset, but still worth coming here.
Nice sites in the Potawatomi Campground! Would have been a 5 star but no Campground host on duty the night I camped and no toilet paper in the toilet in the Oak loop. Can't make a reservation day before camping so that kinda sucks as everything is walk in... Am on a "purpose trip" and not a…
Lovely campground north west of Chicago. The shower facilities were clean and the staff very friendly.
Beautiful shady campground with large private sites. Sites 111 - 139 are more open with less privacy, but they have lake views and are near the concession stand and boat launch. Sites in the other loops are all very shaded and private. The shower houses were clean and large, in good repair. The…

It is a very nice campground. It could use some updates. More water and electric sites. Bathrooms are clean but small. The dump station was full and we couldn’t dump our camper. The staff is very nice but not always at the camp store.
We stayed for two nights and had a great experience. Campsites had decent privacy and even on a Friday night, quiet hours were respected. We were on a wheelchair accessible site which was the only one available, so there was more pavement than the other sites.
There was a dishwashing sink…
Campground quiet and bathroom and showers very clean. Our site was close to the trails leading to the dunes. Loved watching the waves on Lake Michigan and climbing the sand dunes.

From the start you feel welcomed. My site was small compared to other campsites. It was still big enough for our tent and a table and pit. We had to park in a nearby parking space because our site was surrounded by other sites and common area. There is no electric in "tent city" either, but it is…
Staff was very friendly. Easy access to nice hiking trails. Bathrooms and showers decent. No concessions, but there is a place in the office to get Pepsi products. Would definitely stay here again if outside of Chicago area!

This is a great low cost, low frills state park. It’s pretty close to Chicago so it works for weekend getaways. We stayed in the wooded loop. It’s rustic without electric/water hookups. The other loop looked more set up for rvs.
We loved the shade of the wooded section. We had a spot that…
