Shade is rare in Hells Canyon, which makes Copperfield Park's tree cover a notable feature for summer visits. Managed by Idaho Power and built on the site of a former mining town, this established campground sits along the Snake River below Oxbow Dam, with 59 RV sites offering 30-amp electric and water hookups and 10 tent sites with shared water access. Cell service is limited given the steep canyon walls. Bathrooms include showers and have been noted as well-maintained. Temperatures run hot in August, often staying in the upper 80s after dark. Rafters staging trips on Hells Canyon frequently use this as a base. Campers wanting more elevation or different terrain can look at Wallowa-Whitman NF Dispersed off NF-39 to the northwest.
