    Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801

    Great Short Stay Campground

This review is written from a short-stay campground (CG) perspective versus a destination location. RV GPS took us right to the Loves Travel Stop from I-75. The Love’s Travel Stop is adjacent to the truck area exit. We used the gate code provided in the email and proceeded to back-in site 23 at the far end of the CG. Back-in was easy and the utilities were towards the back of the cement pad. The 50 amp electric worked great including not going out during the severe thunderstorms we experienced during our overnight stay. The water pressure was good at around 51 psi. We chose site 23 as it has a little yard and is a bit separated from the campsite on our door/passenger side. Site 24 was very close to our utilities side. There was grass and a fire pit barbecue at the rear of both sites 23 and 24. There’s a picnic table that could have been moved over to site 23 from 24. The pull-through sites are very close together and do not have a picnic table or a fire pit. There are back-in sites of various lengths around the back fence line with covered picnic table patios that overlook a field. There are also back-in sites at the front of the CG that back up to the Loves truck parking area. There were a couple of decent yard sites there, but there would be more road and truck noise. At site 23, there were truck and occasional train noises, but not as bad as we expected. This little CG has all your amenities for a short stay. The building at the gate has showers, restrooms, laundry, ice, a beverage machine, and firewood. There was also a nice dog park with a side for large dogs and another for small dogs. They had a little splash park playground and a pickleball court. We got 4 bars LTE on Verizon. Currently, there are no mature trees near any of the sites, so satellite would not be a problem. Their Wifi worked okay. One side of the CG is adjacent to the Love’s truck and gas station and the opposite side has a pretty field with trees. We’ve stayed at several Loves RV Travel Stops, and this one was the nicest so far.

This is a really nice campground on a nice lake. Almost all the spots are pull-throughs, water, electric and sewer and cable TV as well. Bathhouse is nice, washers (1) was inop. It's a year round CG.

    Would definitely stay again

    Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801

    Cute RV stop

Check in through the Loves app or onsite Kiosk. We tried to call ahead and pay cash onsite. The cashiers worked it out but apparently they aren’t set up to take cash reservations. We checked in late at night, which was a plus for our flexible travel plans. The campground is separated from the truck stop by a fence. Fire pit at your site and a communal one that’s open until midnight. Splash pad, dog park, pickle ball court, and 2 pavilions with grills. It’s actually a really cute site to be attached to a truck stop! It’s walking distance to Loves for necessities. Site 2 is near the office/dog park. Pull through sites and back in. Nice and level on concrete.

    Chehaw Park Campground

Fun Campground for a short stay

Campsites– some spots are spacious like the pull thru but it appears everyone shares one electrical box with a neighbor. Pull thru sites are nice packed gravel/clay and a lot of the back in sites are grassy. There are longer stays available here and some of the sites have that “little too comfortable” look. There is a military base in town, so I am sure this used by military and government workers at times. You will have to call and make your reservation. From past experiences- it is good to double check your reservation or have them email you/mail you your confirmation- check to make sure the site you are assigned has the hook up you are paying for and if you have to share an electrical box you need to find out if there are two 50 amps or if one user gets a 30 amp and the other gets a 50AMP.

There are a couple of cabins and there is also a tent/group camping area too.

Bathhouse- has a washers/ dryers in a screened in area. Bathroom facility is older but maintained. NOTE–> Only one Shower and one family shower

WIFI was only ok- we thought we would get better being so close to Albany. It was better with our boosters, and we used verizon jet packs with our sprint phones.

Activities- we always camp here when we participate in the annual Nut Roll biking event (30-100 mile options)

There is a small wild life park with animal exhibits(extra fee) , hiking trails, mountain biking trails, fantastic playground and water element for kids, BMX track, remote control car track, disc golf and kayaking/fishing just outside the park entrance. There is a more extensive review on our website about the activities.

Wanee Lake Golf & RV | Outdoor Adventure Retreats

    Nice Campground & Golf Course

The Campground (CG) was easy to find and check in was easy. We received a Passport America discount for our two night’s weekday stay. We proceeded to pull through site 10 with FHUs, picnic table, stand up barbecue, and fire pit. Wanee is a no frills CG though they do have a pool, showers, and laundry. The sites are mostly FHU pull throughs on dirt and grass. Water pressure was good. Our Bulldog surge protector didn’t like their 50 AMP so it kicked our power on and off when we ran heat pumps with other appliances. When we contacted the office, they said this occurrence is not uncommon and asked us to disconnect the surge protector as it can affect their grid as well. We got 4 bars on Verizon and a few OTA channels. The WiFi was about average for a CG this size. Their 9 hole golf course was enjoyable to play. The owners and work campers were super nice and we had an enjoyable two-day stay.

    Nice park!

Stayed here 2 nights in a pull through site (#5) and we were happy. The site didn’t have much shade but we used our awning and it was fine. The sites are fairly large. All have picnic table. Our site had water and 30amp electric but Loop 2 has full hookups.

The park has miniature golf, volley ball and hiking trails. Also there is a big lake if you have a boat. All in all it was a nice stay.

    City Limits RV Resort

Nice new RV Park in quaint Cuthbert, GA

This nice, new RV Park is located in quaint Cuthbert, GA and offers nearby access to good hunting & fishing and hiking/trail running at Providence Canyon. This RV Park has full hookups and laundry as well as a cute covered commons area that has ceiling fans, an ice machine, grill, beverage fridge, picnic tables and fire pit. There is a store right across the street that has cheap fuel, propane and groceries along with fishing & hunting supplies. This park is brand new and has lots of small oak & magnolia trees planted that will be absolutely beautiful once grown up a bit.

The owner is a young hardworking guy who is nice & straight shooting but also not all up in anyone’s business. The RV Park has perfect winter weather for snowbirds, is peaceful and has a clear night sky to view the stars. This park also honors Passport America

    Sugar Mill Plantation RV Park

    Basic, decent for overnight

This is a review of Sugar Mill RV Park in Ochlocknee, GA which is in south Georgia off US Hwy 19 near the Florida state line. Other reviews seem to be for a north Georgia park which is not this one.

There is no tent camping at this park.

Overnight stay in a 38' class A. Selected site 26, no online reservations, sites assigned at arrival. Very flexible on checkout time. Site was dirt/grass, FHU, 50 amp, relatively level. Hookups we're in acceptable shape, office staff(Nancy?) was very nice. Our site had some trash and charcoal left by prior guest(looks like they tried to burn) which we cleaned up. Grounds are fairly well kept. Lots of longer term/perm residents. We couldn't pick up campground wifi nor was there cable. Road noise from US 19 as expected since park borders the highway but not too bad overnight. Bugs as expected in south Georgia in May. Fairly basic campground(they do have laundry, bathrooms, showers none of which we used) but priced right. We paid $30 for a night which included the Good Sam discount. Would stay again for overnight

Guide to Albany

RV camping near Albany, Georgia offers campers access to flat terrain within the Coastal Plain region where summer temperatures frequently exceed 90°F with high humidity. Most campgrounds in this area remain open year-round with winter temperatures typically ranging from 35-60°F. The campground landscape typically features pecan groves, southern pine forest, and agricultural land surrounding the campsites.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Albany RV Resort features a stocked pond where campers can fish during their stay. "The pond can be fished and has a few geese and ducks," notes one reviewer who stays monthly at the park.

Golf access: At Wanee Lake Golf & RV | Outdoor Adventure Retreats, campers can play their 9-hole course with discounted rates. "Their 9 hole golf course was enjoyable to play. The owners and work campers were super nice and we had an enjoyable two-day stay," reports one visitor. Golf carts are available for $20 per day for non-golfers.

Water recreation: Creekside RV Park offers multiple water features for summer fun. "Lazy river, swimming pool, water park, tiki bar, lake, restaurant, golf cart rentals, cabins, activities, Gym and store!" describes one camper who visited during warmer months.

What campers like

Spacious sites: The concrete pads at most Albany area campgrounds provide stable setups for large rigs. At Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801, one camper notes, "Easy in and out with large full hook up sites on large concrete pads. The campground is gated and secure."

Convenient amenities: On-site facilities make stays more comfortable. "The building at the gate has showers, restrooms, laundry, ice, a beverage machine, and firewood. There was also a nice dog park with a side for large dogs and another for small dogs," explains a visitor at Love's RV Stop.

Quiet atmosphere: Many parks offer peaceful settings despite highway proximity. "It's well maintained, big, and even has a lovely duck pond on the property. The sites are evenly spaced, gravel, and level," reports a camper at Albany RV Resort who stayed for several nights.

What you should know

Military accommodations: MCLB Albany RV Park provides dedicated camping for Department of Defense personnel. "Full hookups (water/electric/sewer/with cable/antenna). We were in lot #1 which was a pull through that could have taken a rig twice our size (30 foot TT)," states one military camper.

Seasonal availability: Winter months (November-March) see higher occupancy with snowbirds. A long-term visitor at Wanee Lake Golf & RV noted, "The CG had a mixture of permanent, seasonal, transient, and short-termers like us."

Connectivity options: Cell coverage varies by provider and location. "We got 4 bars on Verizon and a few OTA channels. Their Wifi worked okay," reports one camper at Wanee Lake. Most parks offer WiFi, though speeds vary considerably.

Weather considerations: Summer heat and humidity require preparation. Most RV parks have electrical hookups to run air conditioning, but afternoon thunderstorms are common from June through September.

Tips for camping with families

Water features for kids: The splash pad at Love's RV Stop provides cooling recreation. "The splash pad is great for the kids. They have one pickleball court and a very short trail," mentions a family who gave the park 4.3 stars.

Playground access: Several campgrounds offer play areas for children. Creekside RV Park includes "Play ground. Outside bar & Grill. Lot to do. Clean," according to a 5-star review from a visitor.

Budget-friendly options: City Limits RV Resort offers reasonable rates and family amenities. "This nice, new RV Park is located in quaint Cuthbert, GA and offers nearby access to good hunting & fishing and hiking/trail running at Providence Canyon," notes one visitor who appreciated the facilities.

Insect protection: Mosquitoes can be problematic, especially near water features. "Only two issues, no shade trees and mosquito's up the gazoo!" warns a camper from MCLB Albany RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: Corner sites often provide more space. "Site 41 doesn't have any close neighbors and is probably one of the best sites in the CG. You are near the first tee, and we enjoyed watching golfers tee off," advises an RVer staying at Wanee Lake.

Power management: During peak summer and winter months, electrical systems at some parks may be strained. "Our Bulldog surge protector didn't like their 50 AMP so it kicked our power on and off when we ran heat pumps with other appliances," reports a Wanee Lake camper.

Local services: RVers can find supplies and services near most campgrounds. "Groceries at Dollar General are cheaper than Piggly Wiggly. Katz Veterinary is a good place for basic vet needs," advises a frequent visitor to the Albany area.

Water quality checks: Initial water connections may require flushing. "We did get some brown water when we first connected, but that cleared after running the water for a few minutes," notes an RVer at Wanee Lake's newer camping section.
