Anglers and paddlers find direct access to the Toccoa River at this small Forest Service recreation area in the mountains of north Georgia. The campground sits within campgrounds near Chattahoochee National Forest, offering both primitive sites near the canoe launch and developed spots with water and sewer hookups for RVs up to 20 feet.
Blake C. notes the primitive area has "only 4 campsites in this area and are first come first serve," while other sections accommodate RVs with full hookups. Most sites position campers close to the water. SouthernGinger describes getting "to camp out on the spot right on the river and listened to the water trickling all night long." The recreation area includes a swinging bridge and connects to the Benton MacKaye Trail for hiking access.
Sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis year-round, with rates ranging from $8-16 per night depending on hookups. The area serves as a launch point for tubing and kayaking on the Toccoa River. Deer Meadow sits less than a mile west for additional camping options. Campers should arrive early during peak season since reservations are not accepted at all sites.
