The Walls of Jehrico trail offers a handful of first-come/first-serve primitive campsites set adjacent to two separate water sources (streams).  Any equipment must be carried in and out which makes for a perfect backpacking experience.  

Your campsite offers little privacy due to trail proximity but that should not distract from a wonderful experience.

There are minimal places to stock up on necessities along the road so be sure and come equipped.  There is also no cell service so make sure you plan accordingly and have an emergency system in place.

I stayed at one of the primitive campgrounds at the canoe launch. It was a good time. Minimal traffic. Easy drive. There are only 4 campsites in this area and are first come first serve.

I stayed in the primitive camping area which was wonderful. It was gated to prevent unnecessary traffic. Hiking trails were plentiful, there were historic TVA sites with guides, and plenty of geocaching. The park features separate areas for RV's and does have a lodge and restaurant. The park is just outside Fort Payne and is only a short drive from restaurants and Little River Canyon. At one time DE Soto was rated the best hiking in the southeastern US.

I have frequented this area often over the past several years. It is extremely clean, extremely quiet, and, best of all, free. The campsites are first come first serve but all are near a natural spring. The camping area is a short distance from a modest lake and a stocked trout stream.
