The Home Depot — Port Orange

Overnight parking at this Home Depot location provides level pavement and wide lanes that accommodate RVs easily. The store sits right off Dunlawton Avenue with convenient access from I-95, making it a practical stop for travelers passing through the Port Orange area. Reviewers note the parking lot's newer surface eliminates the rocking motion common at older asphalt locations.

The far edge near the garden center offers the most space and distance from front entrance activity. Inside, standard Home Depot amenities include clean restrooms and wide aisles for any supply runs. Solid lighting covers the lot for overnight stays. Saws, Sockets, and Sweet Dreams

Right off Dunlawton Avenue and not far from I-95, the Port Orange Home Depot offers a handy spot for an overnight pause. The parking lot is spacious and level, with wide lanes that make maneuvering a breeze. The orange glow of the sign almost feels like a nightlight for weary travelers and the lot’s newer pavement means you won’t be rocking like a boat when you park. The best place to tuck in is along the far outer edge of the lot, near the garden center side where there's plenty of space, good lighting and a little distance from the hustle of the front entrance.

Inside, this Home Depot is what you’d expect ... just a giant warehouse of possibilities for home fixer-uppers or travelers like you and I in need of a fix. If you suddenly need bungee cords, duct tape or even a replacement grill while passing through, you’re in luck. Restrooms are generally clean, the aisles wide, and the staff keeps the store running smoothly. Outside, the lot lighting is solid and the atmosphere feels safe for an overnight rest.

Nearby, you’ve got conveniences galore from fuel stations and grocery stores to enough restaurants to satisfy any craving. A standout for dining is Aunt Catfish’s on the River, just a short drive away. Their seafood platters and hush puppies are legendary, and the view over the Halifax River makes it worth every minute.

While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience (EZ on- and off-access), safety & security, quality (of facilities), peace & quiet and amenities (either on-site or nearby). Here’s how I ranked this particular overnight spot:

Convenience: 4

Safety & Security: 4

Quality: 4

Peace & Quiet: 4

Amenities: 5

Overall Score: 4

Happy Overnighting!
