Snorkeling!

Best area for protected, near shore snorkeling. A small area located inside rock jetties provides the perfect area for amateur and intermediate snorkeling. Many divers also frequent the rougher/deeper areas near the jetties. A beautiful beach is located on the west side of the jetties. Hard to get campsites range from waterfront to tiny but any spot here will have you thankful to be here.

Sugary like sand — beautiful beach

Not crowded on a week day. State park requires small entry fee or annual pass. Large, interesting jetty rocks protect the end of the beach. Small beach/ snack shop near parking lot, but this beach avoids the touristy feel of other local beaches.

The lower numbered sites are great for viewing water fowl. The higher numbered sites are where the deer visit. The campground map does not show the jetty in front of sites 2 - 15. The location in Panama City Beach is perfect. From the Park gate it is literally a 5 minute drive and you're in the touristy beach area of PCB.

Like camping in a beautiful jungle

The site were so private with lots of vegetation between. We could not see other campers from our site. Beautiful hiking trails, sandy beaches, great kayaking. The added bonus of Shell Island made this quite an experience

Stunning Park!

One of the best state parks I have ever visited! Really well-kept and run. Lots of activities to keep busy, you can fish off the pier, lounge on the beach, rent kayaks or even take the shuttle to go snorkel at shell island. Really stunning. Just be sure to book the campsite well in advance, this place is super popular and fills up very quickly.

Small... but it’s the beach!

*This campground is currently under renovation post-hurricane and is taking walk-in camping only, no reservations.

My cousin was in from Germany and had always heard about Panama City Beach... we are campers at heart so we went to the nearest campground! However it’s a very short drive to PCB if you have someone along that wants to see the city...

Now, there are two beach areas. One is on the gulf, and one is between the gulf and the bay. The gulf water is a lot choppier but clearer, and the swimming in the spot by the bay is much calmer HOWEVER the purple flag was up and we got eaten alive by jellyfish (as did many others). There is a boat ramp on the bay side.

The sites are all VERY different. Some are tiny, some are huge. Some have waterfront and many don’t. We booked late and got a very small (although not the smallest) site. If you want a good spot once they reopen, definitely book early and pay attention to the measurements on the website.

There is also a nature trail with a freshwater swamp (featuring gators, of course). We saw lots of other wildlife around, including deer and rabbits.

Everything You Need

I like to kayak in calm waters. There was plenty of that. I also like to camp on the water. Which was perfect. I do like the gulf side to look for shells & sit. It wasn’t far. Also I like to see wild life. The deer around were practically tame.

Love at third Glance

This was a beautiful campground! Lots of trees and right on the lagoon. Deer will walk right up to your spot and there is plenty of space to walk and ride bikes. They also have many activities offered. The bathrooms are basically clean to be beach bathrooms. Lots of hooks and shelves in the shower stalls to hold your belongings. The spot we had was way too hot with no trees but there were plenty of trees around most of the sites. The walk to the beach is quite a distance but there is plenty of parking at the beach and it is BEAUTIFUL!! We will be back!!

The beach is located on the campground. they have two fishing peirs one on bay side and one ocean side. There is also a wonderful snorkeling area! this camp ground is a wonderful one for old and young!

Great for kids

The campground is great for small kids with a playground and we were able to bike to the beach daily and have the little ones play in the still water while the older kids jumped in the surf.

Beautiful waterfront sites

I love this camp ground you can camp right on the waterway. It has a lagoon right over the dune from the beach. Areas great for fishing, snorkeling and swimming.most beautiful water ive ever been in and ive been to Hawaii so that says A lot. Right in Panama city beach Florida, our great secret. Has a big bath house and bathrooms paved roads very well kept and not as expensive as most camp grounds.

SiteI dont remember the number but you can find a chart of the ones they have I

Best Pioneer Site

We went with scouts and stayed in the pioneer group site. This site was within easy walking distance of the beach which was quiet and perfect for building a sand sculpture or just watching the sunset. Best of all the site had a flush toilet, a water tap, and outdoor shower to rinse off. As far as pioneer camping goes this is luxury. Large fire pit with benches. They also offered a discount rate for scouts. The ranger was helpful and friendly stopping by to educate the kids about local wild life (a gator in the nearby pond).

Annual Dads / Kids Camping Trip

St. Andrews State Park is a regular destination for our group of Dads and kids annual camping trip.

These sites are perfect for our group to book two or three sites together (we book between 6-10 months in advance) and for the kids to ride their bikes around the loop. We also have ventured out to Shell Island by boat to swim and play on the back side (calm waters).

A special treat for the kids each year is the white tailed deer walking through the sites and the bike ride over to the "Kiddie Pool" at the jetties.

The facilities are always clean and safe. The park staff and volunteers are always helpful and kind.

SASP is a real gem!

Waterfront

We had a great time. Strolled in one evening looking for a place to crash. The attendant showed us which sites were available and then let us drive through to see which ones we liked best. After we chose our spot we went back up front to tell her which site number. Sites were fairly close together and there wasn't much privacy but you could luck up and find one. However, there were quite a few water front spots and that was nice. Staff was friendly and bathrooms were very clean. We will be back!

pleasant surprise!

We ended up here on an unplanned night of camping but were very pleased with the park and the campground. The campground was well maintained and not very loud and didnt feel overly busy. Our site was not overly private, but some of the other sites looked more private and some were even on the lagoon! It felt like we were miles from urban life, but in reality this park is very close to entertainment, shopping, food, etc.
