Big Flats Campground — Myakka River State Park

Effective immediately and until further notice, open campfires are not permitted due to hazardous conditions. You may continue to use charcoal and propane fires for cooking.

Myakka River State Park is open from 8 a.m. to sundown, 365 days a year, via the south entrance off State Road 72. The north entrance is only open weekends and state holidays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Campsites have ground grills. Cabins contain light thermal blankets, kitchen utensils, coffee pot and microwave oven. The five palm log cabins were built in the 1930s by the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps. They have been modernized for comfortable lodging.

The park gates close at sunset. If you plan to arrive late, please contact the park prior to 5 p.m. on the day of your arrival.

Cabin check-in is 4 p.m. and check-out is 11 a.m.

Camping check-in time 3 p.m. Check-out is 1 p.m.

2 small tents (4 man) or 1 large tent allowed per site.

Playgrounds are located 4 miles to the north (Big Flats playground) and 3 miles to the south (Clay Gully playground).

Pets are not allowed in any state park cabins or cabin areas.

Service animals are welcome in all areas of the park where visitors are normally allowed.

No one younger than 18 may camp overnight unless accompanied by a responsible adult, who will remain onsite for the period rented.
