Idaho Preist lake state park
The most beautiful lake and the park stay just that better!!
The most beautiful lake and the park stay just that better!!

The campground is within walking to the beach with a beautiful walkway full of trees. The bathrooms are clean. The camp site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Some sites have electricity and RV hookup.

We didn’t camp here but drove in to use the beach while we were there. They charged $5 for the entire car for the day, very affordable to rent chairs and umbrella on site when you arrive, they pick up at 5:30pm. Beach wasn’t too busy and the water was perfect!

We love camping here at Henderson in Destin FL. It's a clean well kept campground has bathhouses, laundry, gravel campsites, fire pits, trash cans, lots of trails, and very beautiful scenery.
Tucked just off hwy 98 is a little gem of a state park known as Henderson beach. Yes road noise is real, yes it exist and you will hear it…but that didn’t interfere with our enjoyment of this park even in a tent! Well kept grounds, shower and laundry facility and easy access to the beach! My daughter was able to ride her bike all over the park on their well paved roads. We were greeted by cheerful workers who took great care of us and got us on our way to setting up our site! One would never think just a few feet off the chaotic hwy 98 of Destin there would be such a great park! Fudpuckers is directly across the street as well as a public just down the road, Walmart you can see the sign from the beach access area so it’s across the street. Give it a try, you’ll be glad you did

Hard to complain about the state park. The sites are large and there’s a great deal of privacy between each site. Not very good for tents, but RVs will like it. Also, the beach is great and the comfort stations are clean.

You are coming here for the beach. Park is very busy as well as the surrounding areas. Campground has a private beach separate from the day use area. There is only one entrance to the park and it's a pain to enter park because of the amount of day users. Sites are spacious and have vegetation between sites. Park is very nice, sites raked daily, restrooms excellent with laundry. Campground is quiet except for the tourist helicopter flying over every 15 minutes. There is no shade at the sites and summer time it is HOT. Plenty to do in area.

Plenty of large secluded sites with 30 & 50 amp, water sites within walking distance to the boardwalk that sits over the sand dunes and leads to the pure white sand of Henderson Beach. A large amount of pull through sites in loops C and D, which is unusual for a state park.
Stop #3 winter escape from 2/2/22 - 2/9/22. The campground is extremely clean and well kept. Volunteers and staff very friendly. All the sites had vegetation in between with lots of privacy. There was at least one site available the entire time we were here. We made reservations 11 months in advance. The boardwalk was closed while we were here but only saw work being done on one of those 7 days! Still not a far drive to get to the beaches which are spectacular. There’s road noise yes and Destin is a very expensive area of Florida. Not much for trails nearby but the beach makes up for it

We arrived at a very clean, gravel campsite with a picnic table, fire ring, water & electric access, as well as a clothes line. Because we were tent camping, the gravel made it difficult to pitch our tent on site. Luckily, we had enough space and privacy on our site to unload the car and sleep in the trunk of it. The bathrooms were kept very clean, and the showers were fantastic! The beach itself is kept extremely clean and is beautiful. The volunteers do a wonderful job around the campground. Here you will find a family friendly stay! I would for sure visit Henderson Beach again for the clean facilities, beautiful beach, and local attractions.

Awesome stay. We actually tent camped here. Great facilities. Listen to the waves at night. Clean beach. Tons of fun.
We stayed at Henderson Beach State Park in a small travel trailer. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the attendant at the office window. We were asked to pull forward and park in the provided guest parking and to come inside the office. Once parked, we went inside the office to receive the booking and park information which included a map of the park with specific directions to our site. The staff was well prepared for our arrival and friendly to our needs.
Our site was fantastic, site 22 is a pull through site that is extremely long and private. Any sized rig could be accommodated there with room for towed or towing vehicles. The gravel was freshly raked and all leaves recently removed. The sites included 50/30/20 electricity, water, table, fire ring and line for hanging towels. We required a couple of blocks to achieve level but still very good for an all gravel site.
There are two bath houses with laundry facilities, they were very clean and well maintained throughout our stay. The park hosts and maintenance personnel were visible and approachable with information and assistance if needed. The campground is very close to the wonderful beach of Destin, FL with its own access for walking to enjoy the water and sunsets. Unfortunately, the boardwalk was under construction during our stay. Driving from the campground to the beach via the park's roads was only five minutes, access was easy and certainly worth the effort.
There is one dump station with two lanes provided, this area was in great condition with non-potable available for tank flushing. We didn't see and long lines waiting during our stay.
The available over the air TV was excellent, plenty of stations for local information, news and weather, The Verizon service was also excellent for cell and data coverage.
There is an abundance of shopping and dining opportunities literally just outside the park's gate. This is very convenient but is also a distraction in my opinion. For the park to be so private and beautiful, the noise generated by the traffic on state highway 98 is obvious. Don't let this deter you from coming, this is a small inconvenience for the beach which is the showcase for this park.
Reservations here are extremely hard to get, especially on short notice. I highly recommend staying here if an opportunity presents itself.

Large sites with fresh gravel. Great bargain.
We were able to snag the last open site on a Saturday night. It’s conveniently located and the sites are flat gravel with fire pit grill and picnic table. Even some line to hang up wet laundry items. The beach is in walking distance but the board walk was closed right now. We did drive down to the pavilions. White sand beaches for $30 a night you can’t beat it! Definitely recommend.
Beautiful beach
So far I’m impressed with the cleanliness of the amenities, walks around the park and beach access
We’ve been coming here for years, usually in the spring or fall. The campground and shower house are always very clean and well kept. The beach is beautiful and never crowded. It’s a nice little sanctuary in the middle of Destin which always seems to be busy.
This is a difficult park to find a reservation. It stays booked. All sites have small gravel, (site 34 was perfectly level side to side),50 & 30 Amp, water, dump station. There is a boardwalk to the beach from the campground. All bath houses are heated and cooled. Our AT&T service had 4 bars. $30 per night with a $7 utility fee per night plus tax. Highly recommend state park campground.

Awesome experience
The sites were always cleaned and easy access to the beach. Bath house very clean. 1 Dump location. Noise from local tourist traffic, but the beach won us over.
Have waited six months into our RV life to start reviews for fair comparisons. Stayed 13 nights in 35 foot RV+tow car in 3 different sites at$35/night. We did not intend to stay this long but when the winter weather forecast for TX came in we were more than happy to hit the brakes here for longer. Lovely natural setting but with all of the craziness/amenities of Destin right out of the gate. It was nice to have such close access to groceries, coffee, Target, etc but then leave it all behind when driving through the park entrance gate. Easy walk on the boardwalk across the dunes to the gorgeous sugar sand beach which was a daily activity. Really enjoyed the nature walk as well. Bathrooms were so clean. Did day trips to two of the other nearby state parks which were an easy drive.

Beach is awesome. Great price, can’t wait to go back.
We tent camped at Henderson Beach in May 2020. The sites were large gravel with firepit, picnic table and full hookups.
They do have a senior discount, so don't forget to ask. No need to mention the beautiful beach, the grounds are well maintained as are the showers. Over all this may be my favorite place in Florida. Shopping and restaurants are literally across the highway, so many things to do. A must for everyone!

We camped at Henderson Beach State Park the last week of 2020. It was absolutely beautiful with well kept grounds and clean facilities. The beach was amazing and our site was so private. We were on D loop, and I would recommend loop A or B as first choice. However, all sites are very private and level. Only 2 bars on cell service and wi-fi is only available at visitor center and bathhouse. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful state park! This 60 site campground has two loops that are each divided in two. This reduces traffic driving by your campsite and increases the peacefulness! Each campsite is only a short 10 minute stroll to the amazing beach. Each site has a fire pit, water, 30/50 amp electric and a gravel surface. They are very secluded from the others thanks to the vegetation. 10 out of 10, we'll be returning!

Right in the heart of Destin but the best beach on the coast if you’re not looking for crowds but if you are looking for space to spread out. The campground basically has a huge portion of the beach just for it. Everything supper clean and nice. Sites are spread out and private. Book well in advance it’s very popular!

Awesome camping right on the gulf , amazing beach access

You are in the middle of Destin but this place is gorgeous and quiet. The sites are luscious and private. Walking path to a beautiful beach. Very clean. Would highly recommend.

Henderson Beach was my absolute favorite campsite on vacation in Florida this year (2020)
Friendly staff and a very well maintained Park made the trip enjoyable.
I booked on July 11th 2020 to stay on July 19th 2020. Part of my experience this trip was bouncing around to a few parks to fill our week because of the short notice and lack of availability due to the increase in travelers. I lucked out and found one night available for $40.15 - It's no wonder these parks book out 11 month in advance.
Pad 13 is a roomy site surrounded by lush foliage and trees. Included on my site was a nice picnic table, fire pit and clothes line. Loop is was fairly close to the entrance and just a short bicycle ride to the beach. The roads and the sites are very nice and well maintained. The staff rakes each site before the next visitor. The bath house was equally clean and as luck would have it just a short walk from our site. I discovered on the day of departure that there was a nice bridge located at the bathhouse that takes you directly to the beach. The previous day I had ridden the bike around the loop which took a few minutes.
Site hookups - Water & Electric
Dumpsite is on the main road in and was quick and easy to drop a load and leave!
WIFI - NO
ATT signal was decent at times. Not enough to stream.
For the price of 10 lattes you can't beat Henderson Park!

My family and I stayed here for one night in July 2020 as our midway point from GA to Texas. We stayed in site 44 and it was private and near the bathrooms. All the sites had gravel, a picnic table, and and a fire pit as well as a clothesline. There’s a path to the beach from the bathhouse. The bathhouse was very clean and there were men and women restrooms as well as private bathroom/showers.
We fit 2 tents at our site. It was so humid and muggy I cowboy camped on the gravel with my picnic blanket and sleeping pad. Everyone else slept in the tents without the rain fly’s for some ventilation. It was a nice, clean, and quiet park and we felt very secluded in our site. There was WiFi and cell service (2 bars for Verizon).
Each site has electric and water. There’s a dump station near the entrance/exit of the park. Overall, lovely experience and I would definitely stay here again.
