Best Glamping near Klamath National Forest

Beautiful, quiet campground with nice views of Lewiston Lake. The glamping units have the best view so I hope to check those out next time.

We had the campground to ourselves as they hadn’t put up the glamping tents yet. We set our tents up on the platforms and had a great view of the lake and trinity alps in the distance. Birds and frogs were in abundance. The lake was too cold for swimming and the fish were hanging out in deep water so no swimming or successful fishing. This campground is hilly and one must pack gear down or up to one’s spot which was a pain but once settled it was a fun and relaxing time, pre-season.

Drive in and group camp spots with some sites right off the lake (though some spots had rocky beaches). Pretty views of the lake! Bathrooms, trash, and yurts available.

We stayed 2 nights in late October and were the only campers beside the host. There are 2 pull thru sites (10 & 12), we stayed in 10 in our 40' coach with tow. Flush toilets in 2 different buildings, no soap or hot water at the sinks, however. All sites have a nice picnic table and fire pit. Lots of water spigots throughout the campground but they don't have threads to allow a hose to hookup. There are also a few decent size garbage bins that are bear proof. Maybe it's the time of the year or lack of campers but the host wasn't ever seen. Lots of sites had litter here & there and the fire pits contained the previous camper's trash. Garbage bins were nearly full. The trees over the main road need trimming, lots of branches scratching the motorhome roof unnecessarily. Lake Shasta was really low so we didn't attempt to scramble down to the water. $25/night without discounts for a basic site. Yurts are more. 50% discount for golden or access National pass.

I am in LOVE with this place!!!! I have been to many lakes in northern California but nothing as perfect as this place. I accidentally booked a spot here at Siskiyou but meant to go to lake Shasta and boy was luck on my side!!! We drove past lake Shasta on our way here and it didnt have many trees and it was 104 degrees. We drove another 40 or so minutes to lake Siskiyou and the trees are so beautiful and you have the most gorgeous view of lake Shasta! Do yourself and your family a favor and book your next camping trip here!

Toad Lake is a pristine mountain lake accessible only via a long, rough, and rocky single lane dirt road (Toad Lake Road 40N64). Take this road only is you have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle with suitable clearance and are comfortable driving on such mountain roads, there are very few places to turn around. The road is very rough, so expect to bounce around for about 1.5 hours while traveling at an average speed of 5mph. There are several unmarked forks while driving in - be sure to stay on the road that looks the smoothest and you’ll make it there fine. At the end of the road is a small parking lot with an information sign that sits at the trailhead to the lake. A short 15 minute hike (it would be hard to bring an ice chest) takes you the lake, where there is 2 picnic tables and a fire pit. DO NOT USE THE FIRE PIT - fires are not allowed and it is an illegal fire ring. Bring a gas stove to heat your food instead. The lake itself is small and surrounded with life! Beautiful flowers are everywhere. This is a very fragile ecosystem so please tread carefully. Be respectful to nature and your fellow campers. When we were there, there were four other groups dispersed camping around the lake. Sound carries very easily, so normal level conversations can be heard all the way across the lake. Please be quiet and conscious while you are here. There are no bear boxes, so make sure you bring a bear canister to keep your food (and the bears) safe. We carried one of our inflatable kayaks up the trail and to the lake. It was difficult but well worth it, it was such a peaceful ride. I would love to go back to Toad Lake. I highly recommend it, but only if you have a sturdy vehicle and are willing to keep this place pristine.

Nice little campground right next to a pretty river.  When I stayed I was the only one at the campground.  The sites are near the road but it seemed to have light usage and I never heard cars in the night.  

No running water (unless you filter from the river) and no trash services, just a pit toilet.

This campground is a great place to stay before heading into the Trinity Alps.  A 20 minute drive on a dirt road leads to the China Gultch Trailhead, a popular trail leading to Grizzly Lake.

I would definitely recommend this site to anyone headed into the Alps.

The spot I was in was small and nestled in a grove of aspen trees. The bear locker was well maintained and the fire ring was double walled. There were flush toilets with working lights and the tent pad was level.

Its a short drive to some great hikes, but the campground itself was too busy and too close to the highway to use as a good starting point.

Well kept campground on Rock Creek. Clean, flushable bathrooms. 120+ campsites, multiple hosts. Several creekside sites reserved as first come first serve. 3 mile hike (lovely with only one short strenuous incline) to Rock Creek Lake. Definitely hike to see the collection of little lakes. Not too hot, cold at night along the creek. Be prepared to utilize bear box.

Absolutely great location. The cabin we stayed in was good as well. There’s many things to do in the surrounding area including cliff jumping and swimming at the beach. I can’t wait to come back.

I started my journey up at Shasta lake, but was driven out by bees. I sought several other locations but decided Trinity was a worthwhile shot. I quickly made an online reservation, paid the holding fee, got there 4 hours early because I needed to just land instead of driving aimlessly, and the staff was so accommodating! They allowed me to stay in the parking lot while my site was being prepared, and they even let me in an hour and half earlier than check in! My spot was easy and accessible, close to bathrooms and showers, near the front store which had everything I needed, including coffee, a short walk to the lake, and a view of stars you don’t see very often. I came for solitude, but found comfort in neighbors who have a mutual love and respect for these great outdoors. I even shared a meal with my neighbor! This is an incredible place and very well maintained grounds. Staff are driving around quite literally into the night hours keeping things clean. Thanks Trinity KAO Holiday! I will be seeing you again!

Check in was a challenge, staff was grumpy, even with a reservation. They have a later check in (3pm) but will allow early check in for $25 (nickel & dime?!?). There was no cell service. Correction to Dyrt description, wireless is only available at the KOA store.

Stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Campers were respectful of quiet hours and staff was mostly courteous. They charge for everything including an early check-in fee when we had to move sites due to reservation conflicts. Lots of children and some camp sites are on top of each other. The water was low so fishing was difficult to find. Great for families with young children and those hoping for entertainment for kids. Not great if you are looking for space and quiet.

Great camp ground! Clean bathrooms / showers. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good size campsites. I definitely recommend!

We go to this KOA every June or July for the last 10 years. It is a great place. Not your typical KOA as it is more like camping vs other KOA's we have stayed at. Lots of trees and shade. Some RV sites are larger than others and lots of seasonal sites. Close to lake and they have a dock. Beach is seasonal but can drive out on the mud, just don't get stuck. Rocky beach if water is low so bring your river shoes. Sites are full hook ups. Bathrooms are clean and they have made some improvements. Small pool but nice. Can get noisy on the weekends with dirt bikes etc driving around. Great for kids. Lot's to do. Very pretty area. Trinity Lake is not that busy during the week.

I am a bit picky where we stay when it comes to camping. This place is top notch, the staff is friendly. The facilities are clean and laundry rooms were cleab as well. Very family friendly!! Easy access of highway 3

We just finished a backpacking trip in marble valley and sky high lakes area, both accessible about 5+ miles from the Lovers Camp Trailhead. It was absolutely beautiful! So much to do in that area and such great views. Very well kept trail and the campsites were well maintained. Definitely hope to return soon.

All the spots were pretty big, beautiful forest and some nice trails nearby. About a 30 minute drive from the bunny flat trail at mount shasta. There aren’t Many toiletbuildings so you have to walk further and it’s pretty busy at times.
