We are Mendocino Magic, an outdoor events destination and private campground. Formerly a 600 acre logging camp and then a commercial trout farm, the space has historically provided employment to a large part of the local community. As the commercial logging and fishing industries faded from prominence, the land has transitioned to becoming a recreational destination for those seeking connection with the outdoors. Home to some of the best stargazing in Northern California, Mendocino Magic also features the pristine Holland Reservoir- the largest private water holding in the North Coast region. Miles of trails wind throughout mountainous hillsides and scenic valleys. These former logging era pathways now lead guests around ponds previously used for the trout farm, through manzanita groves, and madrone and oak forests, to numerous campsites, weekend getaway cabins, and furnished luxury canvas tents (glampsites). Guests can enjoy a traditional campout, with the option to add high-end amenities. There are cabins and facilities on site to host and cater to large groups for private events, corporate retreats, weddings, workshops, and seminars. We invite you to join us for your next unforgettable event.

Good Place For RVs & Group Camping

Easy access and great store, with access to fire rings, tables, showers, potable water, dump station and trash receptacles. The tent sites are beautiful, but a bit too close to each other when there are dogs involved.

    Holiday was packed.

We were here for 3 nights and enjoyed the summer concert series on the grass and the close location to a private beach across from the Rv park.

The spaces for Rv’s are tight, but we made it work. Tent camping is much more spacious.

The weather was humid and cool. It felt wonderful for July!!

    It was good

It was a good place with lots of trees. Nice trails down to the river. I didn’t live this place because there were so many large groups. It was a Saturday night and I was pretty tired at the end of my trip.
The shower was $1 for 5 minutes. The hot water felt amazing!

    Cabin stay

The basic cabin was just that, but spacious and the heaters worked very well. Nice, well kept campground with plenty of activities and access to a coastal trail. The community fire pit was a nice place to hang out at night.

    Okay

It’s a ok place to stay. There are a lot of cats on property which got our dog riled up. Good location to see area attractions. Hookups we’re good. Seems like a lot of extended guests in cabins. If we stay again we’ll get a pull through site rather than back in. It didn’t help that we had a family with 2 ATVs staying in a cabin right by us and they’re kids (guessing ages 10-14) would drive around the camp for hours at a time. First time I’ve seen that at a koa.

    Quiet, fun, relaxing

We rented a camping yurt and we were so surprised how big it is! We received a key to our own bathroom and shower! They had a sink to was dishes in and a place to clean our fish. We rented a motor boat for a few hours to explore the beautiful lake.  Pet friendly. Great little beach. A dock to fish from. Everything you need to have a great time! They also have bigger yurts and cabins to rent. Also, RV parking .We have already booked another visit.

    Jug Handle Farm

Small and quiet campground but expensive.

The campground is nice and quiet. Plenty of space without being noisy. But I’m not sure how they’ve justified charging $58 per night for no basic trash disposal (you have to take all trash with you) and only portable toilets on site.

    First rate RV park

Excellent place on the Hill river, RVs, and cabins only, no tents.

Everything appeared to be newly renovated, great condition, clean, friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again.

They even had an outdoor movie night on the Saturday night we stayed here.

    Clean and quiet

The campground is very clean and quiet. The staff is friendly. Sites are tight, mostly in the sense of getting in and out of them. I suggest a premium patio site since they are on the ends of the rows along the exit of the 1 way street. They are the easiest to pull into from your row. Big rigs may have some maneuvering otherwise. We are in a 42' 5th wheel and we're glad to not have had neighbors when we moved in. All hookups are at the very back of your site so the power posts are slightly in the way when pulling in. Driving in the grass is unavoidable. Parking at your site for bigger rigs is difficult.

    Redwoods in wine country

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of March during an unusually wet and cold winter. So it was, literally, freezing at night. The sites are situated among towering redwoods. Which blocks the amazing clear night skies, but offer there own beauty.
It was great! The nearby towns or phill and boonville are super cute. We are a family of 4 in a 24ft RV. This park is very accessible with many short and easy trails. The hike to see the preserved “hermit huts” were very cool.
Fire wood is available from the camp host who even takes Venmo! Life saver when we always seem to forget cash. There are 2 campground loops. We stayed in azalea and The best sites IMO were 12,19,20. They are large with separate table and fire pit areas and on the outside edge of the loop- so minimal foot traffic and neighbors.

    Stopover Heading to Sunny California

We used this campground as a one night layover on our way to sunny California. Ordinarily we would have booked a campsite in the Redwoods State and National Park but storm damage from earlier this winter closed many of the campgrounds in the area. It was nice having showers available. We appreciated that staff was proactive in changing our site to a more convenient one to the front bathrooms for the same price as one we had booked further back. They did this because they were repairing the back bathrooms.

    Beautiful area

This is a beautiful campground! Cozy campsites with plenty of privacy. The road through the campground is tight and some sites might be hard to back up a trailer into. Restrooms are clean and showers are a nice amenity. We only stayed a couple nights here on a larger overall trip, however I will definitely be back. There are several wineries nearby if you’re into that. There is a Rivian EV charger as well, which was great to see.

    Incredible Views!

The road is a little tight to get into this resort( 1 lane road with traffic going both ways with few pull offs) but the views are absolutely amazing! We stayed in the Lakeview spot and had the entire place to ourselves during the week. It's definitely more of a summer stay but we enjoyed it in the fall just as much. Staff was very attentive and friendly, resort is quiet and secluded from the main road. MUST BE SELF CONTAINED TO STAY IN THIS LOCATION!!
