    New and clean

Kind of an odd location— behind an auction yard. Nice concrete slabs for RVs. Fair gravel roads, 3 very nice log cabins, at least 2 covered RV spaces. BBQ grills and fire pits are brand new. Private pond on site. Because it is relatively new they have a few bugs to work out but I would stay there again.

    Lake Bistineau State Park Campground

    Beautiful state park

Lake Bistineau is a great state park park near Shreveport, LA. We stayed 2 nights. The sites are very shady. The park streets and sites are asphalt. Some roads need repaving. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the lake was drawn down to eradicate an invasive water plant. But, this presented a unique opportunity. We could walk on the dry lake bottom and see the parts of cypress trees that are normally under water.

Stayed in back-in campsite#14 which was level side to side, but the front was higher. The site has a nice view of the lake and a large wooden deck. There was just enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby, but not too close. The site included: picnic table on concrete, BBQ pit, trash pole, and fire ring. Utilities: 20/30/50A electric in back. Water in back, good pressure. No sewer, but a dump station is available.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon 2 bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 5.1 Mbps down, 0.7 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 7.4 Mbps down, 0.1 Mbps up. No WiFi.

Would stay here again. We camped at Lake Bistineau State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Gavel Falls Cabin Rentals and RV Campground

Under New Ownership as a KOA

This new KOA is ok for an overnight stop while passing through. They recently completed construction on new concrete pads at the front of the property with a swing, picnic tables and fire pit at each site. Absolutely zero shade which was terrible during this heat wave with 105 degree days.

As a recently acquired KOA the pool was actually attached to the owners old home (he moved down the property to a new home) and the house is now rentable for larger groups. There are a handful of cabins in the back past the store. The campsite has a bizarre single track road in and out that requires one party to pull off into grass to allow another to pass.

If you're looking for all the standard KOA amenities, including jumping pillow or other trademarked amenity, this will do for a night or two.

    Caddo Lake State Park Campground

    Magical state park

Camped at site #63 in the Mill Pond Camping Area - tent area. This site backed up onto Saw Mill Pond - beautiful cypress swamp. Bugs were not too bad. Gravel drive on site. Level tent pad. Water only; no electric. Clean fire ring. Lantern post. Large site, good separation from other sites. Campground is heavily wooded, lots of shade. Campground is clean & nicely maintained. One restroom is at the entrance to the Mill Pond camping area, just off of a day use parking lot. No shower in this restroom. A newer, nicer restroom/shower house is located in the Woodpecker camping area. Quiet campground; no issues. Good AT&T service. Despite saying it's allowed in the campground features list, alcohol is prohibited. Excellent T-Mobile 5G service.

    Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area

    Great Park

This is a parish ran park that is very well maintained. Security measures are excellent. The park is shaded and all sites are either lake side or almost. There are back-in and pull-through sites. Not all of the park is FHU but they have three pull through dumps. There is a new bathhouse that is very clean and requires a code to be entered on a keypad for entry. There is a small wildlife sanctuary (zoo but no petting) and free roaming peacocks. Good fishing from the docks or by boat. The park is close to shopping, casinos, and restaurants. Love this park.

    Lake Bistineau State Park Campground

    Nice enough

We stayed here for a one night stopover. I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to stay there again but I was happy enough with my stop. It’s an older park. The lake is pretty swampy. No sewer at the sites, but water and electric. Cell service with AT&T was pretty weak but manageable to get some work done. Bathhouse was a typical older state park set up. Definitely needs some TLC. It would take a little work to get level in most of the sites from what I can see. They do have a wooden platform (almost like a deck) at most sites that is pretty cool. Our table was old and kinda warped. There is a fire pit. Table and fire are down a level but sites where we stayed were large and spacious. The park was almost empty during our stay but when we booked there were very few open sites available less than a week earlier. That seemed odd once we saw there was literally no one staying there. Sunset was beautiful.

    Delightful Park

This is a delightful park on the west side of Shreveport. There’s an adorable playground and fabulous pool. Tables with chairs on many sites. Benches, landscaping, grass and shade trees. Clean bathrooms with 3 showers. Road noise might be a distraction for the sites at the entrance area of the park.

    Caddo Lake State Park Campground

    Down on the bayou

A Texas C.C.C. state park in east Texas on Caddo Lake. Beautiful sites and canoe rentals for the old mill pond. Tent sites, RV sites and shelters along with cabins.

Guide to Bradley

Cabin rentals near Bradley, Arkansas provide overnight accommodations in wooded settings with varying degrees of modern amenities. Several state parks and private campgrounds offer cabins within 60-90 minutes of Bradley. These structures range from rustic log buildings to modernized units with concrete pads for RVs nearby. Most cabins operate year-round but have different seasonal rates.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Caddo Lake State Park Campground offers unique fishing experiences on a shallow lake with cypress trees. "The big attraction here is the lake, which looks like something straight out of a Louisiana swamp movie. Huge old cypress trees with Spanish moss hanging from the limbs," notes Bill N. Navigation requires attention as the water is shallow.

Wildlife viewing: At Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area, visitors can explore a small wildlife sanctuary. "There is a small wildlife sanctuary (zoo but no petting) and free roaming peacocks," according to Cheryl C. The sanctuary complements the natural wildlife watching opportunities throughout the recreation area.

Hiking trails: Several parks offer marked trails for day hiking near cabins. Lake Bistineau State Park has multiple trail options with varying difficulty levels. "I took an evening walk on the Discovery Trail and saw two deer. There are several other, longer trails," writes Jacob W. Trail conditions vary seasonally, with some becoming muddy after rain.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Cabins with access to well-maintained bathrooms rank highly among visitors. Atlanta State Park Campground receives positive reviews for its upkeep. "Nice and clean park. Quiet but only half full... Camp hosts definitely do their job on checking on the park and ensuring things are taken care of," reports Steven V. Many sites feature fire rings, tables, and level pads.

Lakefront access: Multiple cabins offer lake views or direct water access. "Big sites, with a lot of them on the water. A lot have full hookups including sewer. Very quiet. Swim beaches and fishing piers," notes Mark S. about Cypress Black Bayou. The proximity to water creates opportunities for swimming during summer months.

Affordability: Lake Bistineau State Park Campground offers economical cabin options, particularly during off-season. "Winter deals were great on my budget. Park personnel were awesome. Helped me with a dead truck battery and were just all around wonderful," shares Kat E. Many cabins provide wooden platforms or decks that extend usable space.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Summer brings insects and humidity to cabin areas. "I would prep for muddy feet and bugs galore," advises Jasmine R. about Atlanta State Park. Cabins with air conditioning become particularly valuable during summer months when temperatures frequently exceed 90°F.

Reservation requirements: Texarkana RV Park & Event Center and similar facilities often allow automatic check-in for late arrivals. "I was able to call ahead, reserve a spot, and have an automatic check in upon arrival. We are traveling cross country and didn't arrive until 2 AM. Super easy and convenient," explains Tracy L.

Road noise: Some cabin locations experience traffic noise due to proximity to highways. "The site that we stayed at (#34) was too close to the main road and the noise from the cars was so loud, which led to an awful nights sleep," reports Kara S. about Caddo Lake State Park. Requesting interior sites often provides a quieter experience.

Tips for camping with families

Cabin selection: Choose cabins based on specific family needs and planned activities. "We loved the cabin, it made winter camping with kids do-able! Loved hiking and exploring," shares Becca H. about her stay at Caddo Lake State Park. Family cabins typically sleep 4-6 people with separate sleeping areas.

Recreation options: Shreveport Bossier City KOA provides family-friendly amenities near cabin accommodations. "The campground was clean and they had a pool and playground. Full hook up, no issues," notes Christina. Multiple cabin locations include play areas within walking distance.

Space considerations: Cabin sites vary considerably in size and layout. "I loved the spaciousness of each site leaving a lot of room between you and your neighbors," writes Lea B. Families should confirm cabin dimensions when booking to ensure adequate space for gear and activities.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Concrete pads at some locations provide stable platforms for RVs near cabins. "Nice concrete slabs for RVs. Fair gravel roads, 3 very nice log cabins, at least 2 covered RV spaces," observes Den O. about Gavel Falls Cabin Rentals and RV Campground. Confirming pad dimensions before arrival prevents sizing issues.

Utilities: Water and electric hookups vary considerably between cabin campgrounds. "Each site is gravel with a patio and they have 50 amp FHU. We enjoyed our stay at this campground and would definitely stay again," shares Jeff & Steff's Excellent Adventure about Texarkana RV Park. Some sites provide partial hookups while others offer full service connections.

Access considerations: Road conditions within parks affect larger vehicles. "Roads in the park have recently been replaced. My spot #46 was nice and level and included a deck," notes Daniel H. about Lake Bistineau State Park. Narrow interior roads can create challenges when maneuvering larger RVs to cabin areas.
