Alpine Ridge Campground sits on the banks of DeGray Lake in the foothills of the Quachita Mountains. The lake attracts visitors far and wide for fishing tournaments, triathlons, water sports and more.
Boating, water skiing, kayaking and other water sports are the biggest draw to the lake, and a boat ramp and sandy swimming beach are provided. The lake is also stocked with a variety of game fish, including plenty of hybrid striped bass, making it an ideal area for both boat and bank fishing.
Degray Lake is one of the region's five Diamond Lakes, known for their crystal clear waters. The lake flows from the Caddo River in western Arkansas and spans 13,500 surface acres. The first settlers around the lake were the Caddo Indians, whose remains have been traced back to 700 A.D. The early inhabitants were skilled in agriculture, and grew crops like beans, squash, maize and sunflowers.
The DeGray Lake Resort State Park offers golf courses, tennis courts, horseback riding trails and more along the 207 miles of lake shoreline. The Ouachita National Forest and Hot Springs National Park are both located nearby.

I keep coming back here to dig for diamonds. There are cheaper campgrounds in the area, but the State Park grounds are top notch. Very level camper pads, stable power and water and everything is well maintained. There are multiple bath “houses” — single shower room style privacy, not a large room with curtains. A playground in the sites for kids to play on also.
The only downsides that come to mind are the iffy WiFi (the reservation system is pretty accurate on which sites have “good” WiFi and which do not) that is decent for casual web browsing but not likely to be streaming possible. And then a mixed pro/com is that satellite connections (direct or Starlink) is going to be rough due to the wooded aspect of the sites — although the trees do help keep the camper cooler. 🤷🏻♂️
TravelerThis is a quiet campground with plenty of shaded and nearly perfectly level pull ins. Power is consistent. Water pressure fluctuates from good to high — regulator necessary. Wifi is spotty, but the reservation center is pretty accurate on strength of WiFi at various sites. The site we are in right now, WiFi is sketchy.
In cool weather, a walk to the diamond field would be fine. In hot weather, no way.

GuideThis camp is ideally located in the Crater of Diamonds State Park with easy access to the Visitors Center by foot or car. The campsites are well maintained and adequately situated to afford some privacy. There are 6 individual bathrooms with toilet, sink and shower, in the bathouse nearest to us that are modern and clean. The shower was "almost" hot.
The only negative is that the adjacent site's fire ring is too close to our back window and the smoke from a fire could enter our window.
This is our second stay at this park and we would definitely return.

Fairly cheap for a nicely established campground with really nice bathrooms (with showers)! Water spigot right at our site. Park has 3 different loops and lots of amenities.
TravelerSpacious sites, and lots of privacy. We came through after a storm and they were without power. Crews we’re working to clean park and electricity was restored pretty quickly. Park was well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay.

20.00 a night for two people in tent camping. I’m in van and they allowed me to van camp. Tent sites have electric. So bought an extension cord and took full advantage for a small heater. It’s by the road. So some road noise then the cows moo.. other then having to pay. This is a great spot 2miles max from crater of diamonds state park. That place was packed on top of each other. Much prefer here!

This large shaded campsite with water on three sides has water and power hookups up to 50A, clean bathrooms with showers and even a swimming beach (when the lake is up)
Some spots are reservation only and run about $20 or less depending on the hookups.
Don’t expect good satellite due to the trees.
RangerThis quiet campsite is more tailored to primitive/tent camping with spread out spots including picnic tables and grill pits. For $10 a night (March 1 - October 31), this was a nice rest stop to cool off for a swim and hang out away from city noise and light.
Fully shaded so don’t expect Solar charging or satellite if you work from a vehicle.
LegendLake Degray has two (that we know of) very nice swimming areas. Grandkids has a blast. Life jackets were available as well. The park offers a lot of shade and was very well kept. We saw lots of deer and other wildlife. There are plenty of trails and just a lot to do. They have cabins which are beautiful. The bathrooms are quite nice. There is a marina and they rent party barges. Just overall a great experience and a beautiful location.

GuideBigger campground with something like 50 spots. But I found a site right on the water and went for a swim which was great given how hot It was. Nobody else on my peninsula of the campground either which was great.
GuideWe were here for a few days starting on Memorial Day. The campsites are very well maintained, shaded, and generally beautiful since we are surrounded by tall trees in the forest. There is a paved trail leading down to the river with a couple of workout stations along the way. You can take the unpaved trail back to complete the 1 mile loop or double back on the pavement. There is a great little water park that’s reasonably priced. Gem mining is on deck for today.
Here is something that only remote workers would care about. Verizon service is terrible. With my Peplink router including a roof antenna and grounding plate, I was able to work in the morning unimpeded, but couldn’t even do voice conversations respectably in the afternoon. We could not do any TV (Netflix, Hulu, etc) at night. Had I known this coming in, I would have adjusted my work schedule accordingly.
LegendI stayed two nights at a nearby COE campground and enjoyed my stay but was ready for a change so I moved to this campground. Lots of fun things to do here. Hiking, biking, marina and water sports. There’s also a lodge with a restaurant and spa. I didn’t visit it but rode by and it’s very nice. Yurts if you don’t have a tent or RV and they have the best view of the lake in the whole park. Beautiful day use area with a playground, beach and picnic areas.
GuideNice campground, WiFi was out of service during our stay although you can get a decent signal at the visitor center. Bring extra clothes and shoes. Campsite was sufficient. Books up fast so plan ahead. Murfreesboro was cute town. Bring your own s’mores - they have been sold out for weeks.

Area we were in is on a peninsula with water on both sides. No road noise, quiet and very peacefull. Say lots of deer. Would absolutely stay again.

LegendVisiting Craters of Diamonds State Park has always been a bucket list item, and now it is completed. Spent the day digging for diamonds with no success, but no one else had any either on the day of my visit. $10 to dig, plus more if you need to rent equipment. Lots of fun, but get ready to be messy. The campground is great as well, but be prepared it was nearly full on a mid week day in October so plan ahead. Picnic tables, metal fire rings, poles ready for you lantern. RV hook ups are available, Showers and flush toilets. This is a nice but busy campground.

TravelerCrater of diamonds area. Small little park right inside of town. 36 a day. Started at miners camp, scary place. Hosts were so nice. Grocery store not far. Shower water smells funny but it will take your first lawyer of skin off. No laundry that I saw, but I didn't ask.
ScoutThe bath house was super clean and the shower was good and hot with plenty of pressure. The step down into the shower kept the other area from getting so wet. The campground was only about 20% full, probably because it is so secluded. We camped in #35 right next to the lake and enjoyed the lovely view.
ScoutThe park is not overcrowded and very quiet and spacious! The sites are really big and clean. Many things to do and see also. We highly recommend this campground and will definitely stay here again!
GuideOne of our favorites in the area. Spots are fairly spread out. Nice bath houses. The shower water pressure is amazing and aintenance cleans daily. Lake was low at the time, but the beach area is nice. We arrived after hours and the camp hosts checked us in before the next morning, so we didn’t even have to do anything.
