This free hike-in shelter sits on BLM land in Alaska's interior, requiring campers to walk in rather than drive to their site. The Bureau of Land Management maintains the facility on open terrain, providing basic shelter for backpackers and hikers exploring the area's trail system.
The location places visitors in remote country where Summit Trail lies just over a quarter-mile northwest. Campers should come prepared for backcountry conditions and pack out all waste, as no services are available on-site. The shelter works well for experienced backpackers comfortable with primitive camping and those using the area as a base for longer trail adventures.
