Blythe Island Regional Park

I stayed at Blythe Island Regional Park in Brunswick, Georgia, and liked it. The campground is quiet with lots of trees and wildlife. I saw rabbits every day, which was fun. The RV sites are big, and the hookups worked well.

The park has a lake, trails, a marina, and playgrounds. It is close to St Simons and Jekyll, so it is easy to explore the area.

A few things to be aware of. Some roads in the campground are bumpy, and some sites are sandy. We heard an odd noise at night. But it was not a drive-you-crazy noise.

Overall, it is a peaceful place, and I would stay here again.

We wanted a stay along our route that was scenic yet close to the road and this couldn’t have been a better stay. With a gate for seclusion, electric at sites, a packet for those arriving after hours, it was lovely. We will be returning!

Nice campground but looks worn down. Roads are poor, rutted and full of holes. Campsites are mostly close but have shrubbery, overgrowth between which helps. Loaded with bunnies and squirrels who don’t mind humans. Drove our dog crazy the first day! Close to restaurants, shopping and Jekyll island. Bathroom clean. Didn’t use the shower. Staff at front office can be a bit abrupt almost coming off as dismissive. One reviewer called them the “ gestapo” which came close! Tried to make reservations on line, kept saying full and unsuccessful. Called directly and got a site. And while there saw many empty sites. It’s sad at how they’ve let it run down. Could trim tress, fix roads, repair broken, laying down “ marker” lights. Says concrete pad but that’s for the picnic table. RV parking site is sand base. We had a large pull thru which was level. The park assigned the spot.

We booked here for the proximity to Brunswick… we will come back to the Golden Isle but do not plan on coming back to Blythe Island… The morning mosquitos were the worst I have ever experienced!!! An Opossum broke into our closed lid dog food container which an all too domesticated Racoon caught wind of…The bathrooms top the top of the worst ever an I have camped for over 40 years…The bunnies and geese were a treat..,

The pull through sites backside of the area look really roomy. We are on site 19. It is just fine.

Really nice campground. Is quiet, clean and great location. We spent 4 days here and it’s a short drive to historic downtown Brunswick, St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. So much to do.
Campground has bike and hiking trails, a freshwater lake for fishing and swimming, and a marina for those who may bring a boat to go saltwater fishing. All campsites are shaded and well equipped. Will definitely be back!

I really liked this campground. Even though the sites are close to each other there is a decent amount of vegetation to give some privacy. The trails are fun for walking or biking and there is much to do close by. My big complaint is that the bathrooms were dirty when we arrived and no one cleaned the bathrooms the whole time we were there. The paper towel dispenser was empty or I would have at least wiped the counter and sink. If you have a bathroom in your camper, this place is fantastic. If you are like us and rely on the bathrooms provided, you may be disappointed. I want to come back so please keep us updated on the conditions of the bathroom cleanliness.

Large sites and very peaceful. Has a lake, fishing pier, boat ramp, dry dock and bait shop. Great place for fishing and enjoying nature.

This campground exceeded our expectations. The sites are shaded by trees, plenty of space in between each site and has a small concrete pad, picnic table, and fire pit. On the grounds there is saltwater/freshwater fishing, BUNNIES, a swimming lake, bath house, laundry, WiFi, hiking/biking trails, and a gated entrance that is locked after dark. Quick 10-15min drive into town. The cost for 6 nights was only $280. We highly recommend this place!!

All spaces have full hookups. The spaces are good sized. Pretty quiet. The beach is a man made lake but it’s very nice. Plenty of wildlife around too. Blythe island also has friendly bunnies that roam around.

We love this campground. The sites are large and pretty private with trees and bushes growing between sites. The site we stayed at faced the lake. The lake had a beach for swimming and you could also put in a kayak or small boat there. Fishing was also permitted for a small fee. Additionally there is a dock on the Brunswick river where you can fish and a bait ramp. There is a playground available and domesticated rabbits run free all over the park. The bathhouses are clean and there is a small laundry area. The park is within driving distance of beaches at both Jekyll Island and St Simons and we visited both. It’s a great place to stay when you can’t get into the campground on Jekyll (or just don’t want to be there).

If the sky fell, would you want to spend your last day(s) here at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground? Chicken Little would say heck yeah!

Really liked this camp ground! 20 minute drive to Saint Simons island, beautiful scenery, nice people, bunnies (looks like pet bunnies that are free roam) everywhere, wild life, and mini crabs absolutely everywhere (they leave you alone, you just have to pick a couple out of your pumpkin patch😂)!!! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a safe place and beautiful place to stay.

All jokes aside, I definitely recommend it here.

This campground is UNDERrated! So nice! Campsites are more private with foliage in between. Full hookup. There is a freshwater lake to swim/fish. There is a saltwater marina/fishing pier. Pavilions. Playground. Nice bath houses. Very friendly wildlife. Kid friendly. Everyone riding bikes and walking on trails. Dog friendly. Kayak/Jon boat for rent for the lake. Washer/dryer room for fee. Wi-Fi at campsites and cable.

We stayed here for 2 weeks. Love the space with natural vegetation between the sites. There's a nice lake and a park. We saw deer and rabbits every day we were there. The park has a propane filling station and a dump station which are convenient. The staff were really nice. Will stay here again.

The camp sites were well separated and it was quite quiet through out our stay. Strange online booking wherein you book online, but that is effectively a request. They confirm but only assign you a site on arrival- you cannot choose it

Our campsite consisted of a hard packed sand "driveway" and a concrete pad next to it. We had a full hookup site including cable supposedly- it did not work so cannot comment on it. Also did not use facilities so no comment.

Bunnies added entertainment to a walk around the grounds. Funny little buggers, will come to you when you call - probably assuming you will provide food, which they quite happily take a carrot out of your fingers.

Cell: only used my Visible / mofi4500 and it was strong enough for Sling and laptop. About 8m up and 8 meg down

Close to both St Simons and Jekyll Islands. There were plenty of grocery stores nearby including Wally World, target, samsclub and restaurants.

Most sites are huge. Just check your maps. Rabbits all over. Fishing and lake swimming. Order firewood at office and its delivered

This is a good size park with plenty of camping area yet there is enuff woods around so your not feeling like your stacked in on top of one another. The shower houses are clean and look after every morning. The trails are beautiful and full of wildlife. The is propane firewood and ice available at the office but it’s located so close to other options that would be cheaper as well. My only gripe if I had to have one is there is a 5.00 fishing fee for the lake which seems a bit ridiculous when your already paying for a camp sight especially if your staying multiple days having to pay 5.00 a day is off putting.

Planning on a quick stop-over on our way to Florida but we stayed another night. Lots of trees and bushes—could barely see the next spot on one side of us.

Oh yeah, bunnies. There are wild bunnies hanging out around the spot. My girls were in love.

Bathrooms were nice, clean, etc.

One night stop overs in GA are the norm for me and this place is perfect!  LOTS of tree's, Dog friendly and easy to get around.  Right off the highway.  Clean bathhouse with lots of hot water.  Small lakes with trails, bench's and open spaces makes it a great place to stop over.  Very tame rabbits everywhere, will come right up into your lap (not MINE, but watched them do it with others).  Concrete pads and wood tables built for wheel chairs or your own chair at the ends.  Easy and fast check in on the phone.  Quite.  

Didn't use the dump station or sewer hookup.

We only stayed one night. It’s a beautiful campground. Sites are spacious and most of them are in full shade. There are wild rabbits that come up and will eat right out of your hand. Full hook ups at a pretty good price. So far the campground Wi-Fi seems to be good. We would have given at five stars except that their main office and store was closed “due to Covid.” 🙄

Great little campground with full hook-ups, 30 amp & 50 amps sites, back in & pull through sites. Lots of wildlife everywhere and domestic rabbits all over the campground that they raise at the campground for the kids to feed & enjoy. It's very quiet, lots of trees and plenty of distance between sites. There's 3 bath house but the showers kind of suck but they have hot water and fairly clean

Great campground, very shady and quiet.

April 11,2021 Van Camper Verizon service good. Propane and laundry available. Site #2. Lake front view. (Sites 1-10 are lakefront view. I like #4 best) Sites are quite close to each other but well landscaped with trees and foliage between. All sites heavily shaded. CLean and well maintained with full hook up.

There are well maintained walking trails around the lake and a big beach and swimming area at one end. Several picnic pavilions, boat and kayak rentals and fishing gear are available.

Bath house was clean but ‘C’ grade. Not enough trash bins. Park location is close to Winn Dixie and Walgreens.

In a few words, the campground has everything you need for a comfortable visit. Everything is super clean. The sites are full hookup. There is a laundry facility with 3 washers and 3 dryers, which as a full time vanlifer I really appreciate. You can buy propane for your rig here. Our site was across from the lake/pond which is very pretty. The park has lots of rabbits who will come right up to you looking for a food and will immediately scamper away when they realize you have no food. Now for the internet connectivity. For those who work and travel like us, on Speedtest at 12pm on a Wednesday: Verizon via iPhone 12 - 68 mbps down and 0.3 mbps up with 53 ms ping; T-Mobile via Nighthawk MR1100 - 46 mbps down and 6 mbps up with 268 ms ping.

We stayed in the tent only area and it was nice.  I don't remember a lot of road noise but then we traveled 2 weeks around Florida and heard road noise in every park so maybe I was Immune to it.  The bath house in at the swimming beach and it is a little walk, so if you have little ones that might be a pain.  Also in the summer I can imagine it would be packed with day use visitors.  We checked in late so no interactions with any Park staff but the lady that booked the site on the phone was nice.  Park is close to Jekyll Island where there are killer bike paths all around the island and that is what we were there for.  The camp ground on Jekyll did not look good.  I would return and stay here.
