    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Camping near Teton Village, Wyoming ranges from full-hookup RV facilities and rustic cabins to free dispersed campsites on Forest Service land, giving campers a wide range of options in a single area. The area features sites like Gros Ventre Campground within the national park boundaries, as well as dispersed camping areas such as Shadow Mountain and Upper Teton View. Accommodations range from basic tent sites to full-hookup RV facilities, rustic cabins, and glamping options. Fireside Resort at Jackson Hole stands out as a mixed-use facility offering both RV sites with utilities and cabin rentals, while public lands managed by the Forest Service provide more primitive camping experiences.

Seasonal accessibility strongly influences camping availability in the Teton region. Most established campgrounds operate from May through September or early October, with Grand Teton National Park facilities like Jenny Lake Campground typically closing by mid-September. Winter conditions and high elevation make off-season camping challenging or impossible at many locations. Permits are required for backcountry camping within Grand Teton National Park, though nearby Forest Service land offers more flexible options. Road access varies significantly, with some dispersed sites requiring high-clearance vehicles. According to one visitor at Phillips Bench Trailhead, "This has I think 12 spots. It's a little rough in the beginning but not bad after that seen Subarus up there."

Developed campgrounds near Teton Village provide essential facilities like drinking water, toilets, and designated fire rings, while dispersed sites offer more solitude but fewer conveniences. Reviews indicate that proximity to Jackson and Grand Teton National Park makes the area popular despite relatively high prices. One camper noted about Fireside Resort, "It's clean and the service is amazing. We've loved our stay here. It's close to downtown Jackson Hole, so you can drive into town for anything you need with a quick 10 minute drive, but far enough away that you don't hear traffic or city noise." Wildlife sightings are common throughout the region, with bear-aware camping practices essential in both frontcountry and backcountry settings.

Grey's River on Forest Road 10023

      Bridger-Teton National Forest Free Camping

The sites have beautiful water views, with lots of atv & dirt bike trails. Campers could clean up their sites better and stop shooting up trees, lead kills trees.

Shadow Mountain - Dispersed Campsite #10

Words can’t Describe this beauty 😭

This was our first night in the Tetons, and I’ll never forget it. If you get a spot in the lower parking you’re lucky, smaller rigs can fit up throughout dispersed camp spots! We were able to camp at the base and ride our dirtbikes all around, including down to Mormon row. Absolutely 40/10 amazing spots.

      Curtis Canyon Campsite 10

      Such a cool spot!

07/30/26: Our site was about 30 minutes outside of Jackson. Road is dirt and bumpy. Everything is first come first serve, we came at around 6p, spots leading up to ours were all full- probably better to come earlier. But it’s gorgeous, you can climb up a hill right behind spot and see a gorgeous view of the Tetons !!

      Grand View Campground (Targhee NF)

      Idaho at it's finest

We used this campground as our launching sight for Yellowstone. Even though it was about a 45 minute drive to the West Yellowstone entrance, we were so happy we stayed here instead of close to the park. We booked double site 007 since we were not sure if we would fit our fifth wheel and truck in the single site. We were glad we did. One other large fifth wheel was in a single site and it was a very tight squeeze. We had electric at our site and water close by. Even though you can't hook up to the water, with a long hose, we could refill as needed without moving. This campground has only 8 spots. They could have fit more, but you will love that they didn't. You have so much privacy and are surrounded by a beautiful Idaho forest. There is absolutely no cell service here. We got one hit on our phones on one of the trails. You can do satellite text messaging, but that is about all. However, with Mother Nature at her finest, you will enjoy being disconnected. The campground hosts were friendly and informative of the area. You can walk the trails to the Lower Mesa Falls, but be sure to take the effort and drive to the Upper Mesa Falls. There is another backcountry entrance to Yellowstone to Cave Falls. It is on a well groomed dirt road and worth the effort. After the drive on the dirt road, there is a self serve car wash in Ashton that was badly needed. There is not a dump station at the campground. However, going north towards Yellowstone on US 20 is a forest dump station. It is on the west side of US 20 near mile marker 382. There wasn't a sign going north, but we saw the sign coming south on the way back from Yellowstone. It is 16 miles from the campground. I don't know of any dump station options if you are heading south from the campground.  There is so much to see and do in this area, we can't wait to come back.

      Upper Teton View Dispersed

      Part of My Colorado Trip

Wanted to spend a few days out in the grand Tetons on my way to Colorado stayed here for a few nights while I was out there I went during the fall so it wasn’t too crazy packed, but there was a few good people around me. I can definitely see it being busy in the summer. I went to the tiles point, which was definitely four-wheel-drive. Friendly would not recommend any everyday car, but that’s what the lower lot were for

Colter Bay Campground at Colter Bay Village - Grand Teton National Park

Close to the lake! Private campsites, lots of shade.

We stayed in Loop K with our 37ft rv. No generator running after 10pm FYI. The pull through was super easy to navigate, close to restrooms. Bear activity was high, our neighbors got a shock when a black bear came into their camp. The lake is real close, the most beautiful lake I've ever been to! The campsite was private and shady, very comfortable. The campground visitor center has laundry and showers and a store. Very nice area.

    Guide to Teton Village

Camping near Teton Village, Wyoming requires careful planning for seasonal access challenges. Located at the edge of Grand Teton National Park in northwestern Wyoming's Teton County, the area sits at 6,311 feet elevation with limited winter camping options. Snow typically covers backcountry sites until mid-June, making early summer through fall the optimal window for most dispersed camping areas.

    What to Do

Biking from camp: Mike Harris Campground offers excellent access to mountain biking trails just minutes from sites. "Fantastic biking, hiking, and wildlife viewing just a few minutes from town amenities. Rough it all week, or head up the road to get a slice or just do laundry," notes one visitor to Mike Harris.

Wildlife watching: Early mornings yield frequent wildlife sightings at Gros Ventre Campground. "Moose in the campground almost daily. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Open May to October," reports one camper at Gros Ventre Campground. Morning hours prove most productive for animal activity.

Photography setup: Upper Teton View provides unmatched photography opportunities with clear morning light. "There is an area about 1/2 mile in that is good for a night but keep going up the gravel road to the top and there is a great area with about 12-14 spots for camping," writes one camper at Upper Teton View. The elevated position creates optimal lighting conditions for mountain photography.

    What Campers Like

Early season access: Curtis Canyon Dispersed offers earlier season camping compared to higher elevation sites. "Great option if the Curtis Canyon campground is full, or if you would prefer something a little more remote. High clearance vehicles recommended - forest road 30440 is in pretty rough shape," advises one camper at Curtis Canyon Dispersed Camping.

Arrival timing strategy: Shadow Mountain fills quickly by midday. "We came in at sunset and we drove around for over a hour trying to find a campsite. Everywhere was full but a lady let us stay on her site since it was really big," explains one visitor to Shadow Mountain Dispersed Camping.

Bear management systems: Jenny Lake Campground provides effective food storage solutions. "They offer a wide variety of campsites, some being open and some in the woods. The camp hosts very extremely friendly and helpful and would definitely return," notes a camper at Jenny Lake Campground.

    What You Should Know

Cell service limitations: Upper Teton View provides limited cellular coverage. "I have Starlink Mini and was able to get acceptable WiFi reception," explains a camper, demonstrating the need for alternative connectivity solutions.

Road condition alerts: Many dispersed sites require careful vehicle selection. "The final ascent to the campground was switchbacks and a little uncomfortable for a 12 passenger van. The roads were dry and we made it with no issues," notes a visitor to Curtis Canyon Campground.

Mosquito intensity: Insect activity peaks at specific locations. "Mosquitoes were bad but bearable. Stayed 5 days and would definitely be back," reports a camper at Upper Teton View, highlighting the need for insect protection during summer months.

    Tips for Camping with Families

Family-friendly water access: Spread Creek offers kid-friendly water play. "We strolled the creek in the morning, and the dogs really enjoyed it," shares one visitor about their experience at Spread Creek Dispersed Campground.

Bathroom quality considerations: Facilities vary dramatically between campgrounds. "Maybe the cleanest pit toilets ever," reports one family about Mike Harris Campground, contrasting with less maintained options elsewhere.

Generator restrictions: Jenny Lake Campground enforces generator-free camping. "It is a perfect location to get away from RVs and Trailers," notes one tent camper, making it ideal for families seeking quiet camping environments.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Fireside Resort provides full-service RV sites. "Not all the sites have water and sewer, but everything has electric. It's clean and the service is amazing. They've got a good size laundry room and a small shop for odds and ends," reports one RVer at Fireside Resort at Jackson Hole.

Site leveling challenges: Come prepared for uneven terrain. "Most sites are pretty uneven so bring blocks. I had to get pretty creative in our super C," warns an RVer at Colter Bay RV Park.

Off-season access limits: Road closures affect RV route planning. "Word of advice if you are in an RV, don't make a right out of the park, the road into Tetons is closed to all RVs," cautions one Fireside Resort visitor, highlighting the importance of checking seasonal road restrictions.
