I’ve loved camping and hiking and deploring Devils Lake since I was a little kid. Incredible views and great swimming and lake activities too!

Campsites range from open and spacious to private in the woods. Lake had two great swimming areas one on each end. The hiking Trails around the lake are great for a added treat try the state Natural areas.
The sites here are large but get reserved quickly! Yiu need to book the 11 months in advance, especially for holiday weekends. Shower facilities are nice and clean. Hiking is great and strenuous around the lake but the views are worth it! This park does get very busy with outside visitors on the weekends as well. The concessions were very busy when we were there the end on October 2017. Very nice park though!
Great swimming and hiking
I probably shouldn’t review the park because it’s busy enough as it is. But it is our favorite park and go to vacation spot. The lake had 2 beaches for swimming and a dog beach also. Canoe and row boat rental. Rock climbing and a variety of hiking trails in various degrees of difficulty. The town of baraboo is picturesque and had many things to do. All of 3 campgrounds have their own charm and we’ve stayed in all three.
This is a VERY popular campground and thus I feel for us there were too many people.
You’ll love this place. Look at the maps and pick your site with care. You either get Sun or shade. Bathrooms are both new and old depending on site location.
Great state park. It's nice and clean. Great views.
Beautiful hike and really nice campsites. It gets SUPER busy in the summer, so I highly recommend going off-season! Fall during peak colors is amazing.
There is something for everyone at Devils Lake State Park. It is the largest State Park in Wisconsin and is full of hiking trails, canoeing and kayaking on the lake, and large open spaces for the kids to run and play.
If you forget your canoe, don't worry, you can rent one. Don't feel like cooking, no problem, there is plenty of food at the beach.
The family campground is pretty wide open and more conducive to camper trailers, but there are plenty of spots for tents. The bathrooms and showers are clean, and everything is nearby.
The group campsites are awesome, they are on the edge of the park and in the woods. They are very nice. The group campsites even have a modern shower house. Most State parks put there group campsites in the worst part of the campground and they never have showers. In other parks you are lucky to have a pit toilet. Not at Devils Lake, it is the exact opposite. This is a great place for a boy scout troop or youth group camping trip.
This is my favorite park in Wisconsin.
this place is so fun to play on the nice clean beaches, as well as the campsites, they always seem very well kept
Devils lake state park is a busy place. Over 2 million visitors a year! Climbing is popular and there are people to help teach you. Lots of nice camping sites.
Devil's Lake State Park was the first campground I ever visited in the US. Although I have camped as a kid in my home country, this was a totally new experience for me since everything was so much better organized - a fire pit on each site + a table, showers on the campground, etc. (later I learned that this was normal for most of the campgrounds). The site was great - it provided seclusion from the neigbors around and was big enough for two tents and two cars to fit. The area is interesting for day hikers - there are several nice trails one can do, ranging in difficulty and length. The most visited hike is the one to the top of the hill overlooking Devil's Lake. The winding path among rocks and trees leads one to a nice view from above. Sites along the trail are Balanced Rock, the Devil's Doorway and Chimney Rock. In the past thee area was a zone of glacial activity and the one can find numerous remnants of that. The place is very popular with people from Chicagoland and North Illinois (and for some reason with Russians and Polish; there were huge groups of them all over the place) .
The park was visited in August 2008.
Not much shade if it's hot, but you can still have a great time since the park has awesome hiking/swimming/boating and more.
