Fishing and paddling draw campers to Hapgood Pond, a US Forest Service campground in Peru, Vermont, where all sites sit within a short walk of the water and a one-mile trail circles the pond. Sites accommodate RVs up to 25 feet, though access roads run rough, so drivers should plan accordingly. A day-use area at the pond includes showers, and pit toilets serve the campground itself. No firewood is available on-site. Generator use from neighboring rigs has been noted by past visitors, so light sleepers should factor that in. No pets are permitted. The campground runs from late May through early October, with nightly rates between $20 and $50. Anglers and paddlers looking at places to camp near Green Mountain National Forest will find Hapgood Pond a functional base with direct water access.
