Chittenden Brook Campground is located near Rochester, Vermont, within the [Green Mountain National Forest](https://thedyrt.com/camping/vermont/near/green-mountain-national-forest). The area features forested terrain with a mix of hardwood and conifer trees. Temperatures range from 20°F in winter to 80°F in summer, and nearby attractions include the Long Trail and the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area.

## Overview

 Chittenden Brook Campground is situated in a beautiful northern hardwoods forest, approximately seven miles from Rochester, VT. It is a small and semi-remote campground, perfect for those who seek a more tranquil camping experience. The Green Mountain National Forest in partnership with the Vermont Huts Association has a cabin located at the Chittenden Brook Campground available for reservations. The Chittenden Brook Hut (pictured above) is open for year-round use and is located within the semi-remote campground on the Green Mountain National Forest. ## Recreation

 With an abundance of well-maintained trails, mountain vistas, waterfalls, and streams, the Chittenden Brook area offers plentiful opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, river tubing, fishing, hunting, and more. The Chittenden Brook trail system starts at the campground and passes through a mature northern hardwood forest, along a pristine mountain stream, and past a beaver pond on its way to connecting with the Long Trail.
## Facilities

 The campground offers 17 overnight sites for tent and small RV camping (maximum 18'). Each site has a picnic table, fire ring with a grill, parking spur with space for two cars, and a gravel tent pad. There are two barrier-free vault toilets, but there is no potable water available. There is a recycling and trash station at the end of the campground loop. The campground also offers several first-come, first-served sites along with sites that can be reserved. 
## Natural Features

 The campground is located along Chittenden Brook, a pristine mountain stream that feeds into the White River. Wildlife located in this area includes white-tailed deer, moose, and black bear.

 Nearby attractions include Long Trail access on site, river tubing on the White River, mountain biking on the Green Mountain Trails in Pittsfield and the towns of Killington, Rochester and Brandon.

The Best Camping Near Goshen, Vermont

Great tent camping area with good privacy at sites.  Would be tough for any but the tiniest RV.  No water.  Well maintained, and nice access to trails right from the campground.

Really nice semi-remote campground

Was able to snag a spot without a reservation. I’d probably recommend reserving a spot if it’s the main season but I went in September and had an easy time grabbing a site. Cheap sites and beautiful forest, really close to the Brook too!

A little buggy but not to the point of it it affecting the stay. I went during the week and had to the place to myself apart from a neighbor a few sites down who wasn’t visible. Nice hiking trails close to long trail, really tucked away a few miles off 73. Great if you’re looking for some solitude. Would love to try the cabin on the brook next time, peaked in and it’s cute with extra privacy and private view of water.
