Beaver Dam Washington Dispersed Camping area

Cattle roam the grazing lands surrounding this free BLM dispersed camping area, where Joshua trees dot the landscape west of old Highway 91. Access requires navigating a narrower road with significant dips that may challenge larger rigs with low clearance. The gravel Bulldog Road to the east provides better access conditions for those willing to explore alternative routes.

Designated camping spots spread across the open terrain, offering views toward surrounding desert formations. Greg L. notes that "sites are on grazing lands but Joshua trees are scattered around." Cell coverage varies by carrier, with AT&T and T-Mobile providing two bars of LTE service while Verizon users may experience limited data connectivity. The area sits far enough from the highway that road noise does not carry to most camping spots.

Campers drive roughly a mile and a half from the main road to reach suitable pulloffs, though options remain limited compared to more developed dispersed areas. Several other BLM camping options exist nearby, including Beaver Dam Wash National Conservation Area dispersed camping and Woodbury Desert Study Area BLM Dispersed. Night skies offer clear stargazing opportunities away from urban light pollution, while occasional cattle encounters add to the working ranch atmosphere that defines this corner of southern Utah's high desert.

Visitors often highlighted the free dispersed camping among Joshua trees with basic fire rings. Access road conditions vary by route, and cell coverage depends on carrier. Most found it peaceful despite grazing cattle.

Very quiet and peaceful

Spent a wonderful evening at this campground. I drove in about a mile and a half. There were not lots of areas to pull off, but I did see a few other campers. Unlike other reviews, I did not see any garbage or trash anywhere. I have Verizon and had excellent service. Could not hear any road noise from the highway.

Free and remote

Free dispersed but only in designated areas per the blm map. Sites are on grazing lands but Joshua trees are scattered around. Cell on att and Tmobile 2 bars lte but verizon had no data, at least for me. Area is a bit beaten down so 3 bars. This area is west of the old hwy and the access road is narrower and has some significant dips that may drag a hitch on bigger rigs. The gravel road (bulldog) going to the east is much better and the dispersed sites are better in my opinion
