Picnicking and many other recreation opportunities are available along scenic Paint Creek Corridor. Forest Road #41 parallels Paint Creek five miles between Paint Creek Campground and the French Broad River. Driving for pleasure is one of the most popular activities along the corridor, though bicycling is becoming increasingly more common. Paint Creek is stocked with trout during the summer months, and fly fishing is another favorite activity. Along the corridor, you’ll also find overlooks to observe Kelly and Dudley Falls, a warm water fishing pond, hiking trails and opportunities for dispersed camping.

ScoutFree Camping is Questionable
There is a paid campground in the area which is $10 and offers vault toilets and nice sites.
If you drive past that there are parking and picnic areas along the road that have “no camping” signs. We set up a tent at one of the picnic areas and nobody bothered us. Cars did drive by and it was not as secluded as we like but I would not call it a busy road. We were also there on a week day not sure if it’s busier during weekend.
I would suggest arriving during the day if you want to camp for free.

Directions
From Greeneville, take TN 70 south for 11.2 miles. Turn right on Rollins Chapel Rd. and follow signs to Paint Creek Campground, then turn right onto Forest Road #41 (Paint Creek Road). From Newport, turn left on TN 107, and travel 10.1 miles. Turn right at Rollins Chapel Road and follow signs to Paint Creek Campground.
