## Overview

 Horse Creek Recreation Area is located eight miles from Greeneville, off TN 107 north. This recreation area is nestled into a hardwood cove beside its namesake, Horse Creek. Horse Creek is located in the Chuckey area of Greeneville, TN. The campground is primarily walk-in, tent camping only. With plenty of forest-related activities to do around the campground and being located right outside the city of Greeneville, Horse Creek is the perfect place to stay! Numerous hiking trails, picnic areas, and swimming spots are located within Horse Creek. 
## Recreation

 There are several native trout streams within and nearby Horse Creek Recreation Area. See Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency for permits as well as rules and regulations on fishing. There are two areas for picnicking in the Horse Creek Recreation Area, one upstream and one downstream of the campground. Multiple hiking trails can be accessed from Horse Creek. 
## Facilities

 Horse Creek Recreation Area offers a bathhouse for campers use. The bathhouse includes hot showers, flushable toilets, and sinks. 
## Natural Features

 Squibb Creek Falls: Get your feet wet on this 4-mile (round trip) trail on your way to see the 25-foot tall Squibb Creek Falls. This trail lies almost entirely in the Congressionally designated Sampson Mountain Wilderness. Please take extra caution when hiking this trail, as trails are not blazed and stream crossings may be difficult to negotiate. Pete's Branch Falls: This short, easy trail starts to the left of Poplar Cove trailhead after the first creek crossing. The trail follows the creek with 5 creek crossings to a 45-foot waterfall. It is recommended to come during the wet spring and fall months, where the abundance of water makes for optimal viewing. During the dry months, you can expect just a trickle coming over the falls. Please note that hiking or driving on Forest Road 94 requires several creek crossings. Hiking from the trailhead requires an additional 1.5 (each way) hike.

Plenty of spots for tents or RV's. All along a little creek. Has a swim hole but, cold water. Bathrooms along the park. Nice trails.

Peaceful place! 

Having both RV and tent campgrounds, each with large fire pits and lantern stands, this peaceful creekside setting lies just beyond low mountain farms in the northern part of Greene County Tennessee. A thick forest of deciduous trees partially isolates each campground for a relaxed evening of fire provided comfort and repose.

Although you can hear and see some of the other campers from the main loop, this is still a wonderfully peaceful place. The creek flowing through the middle of the grounds is a wonderful scenic point and provides with sound cover. We pulled our tear drop trailer into our site with no issues.

Next year the last campground I know of will be DESTROYED for, people who consider it's camping to have electricity and water for their monstrosity 5th wheelers and 40 foot rolling palaces...The ambience of feeling like you are in a SACRED SPIRITUAL natural and tranquil place will be gone forever.. This will be your last chance to experience what thousands of generations before have had. Peace. Only the ELITES can have and Afford what I experienced here. May as well go to rock creek and Camp? In their trailer park with the rest of the pitiful souls crave but will never find the solitude that USED to be. Camp horse creek.

DESTROY and destructions 

To be clear, there is only one site that you can drive to. (Site 14) When it says the sites are “walk-in”, it does not mean you can drive near your site and walk over into it. It means you have to park in a parking lot and haul your stuff up to 200 or 300 yards away along a trail over bridge. That being said, it is a lovely little campground. Very pretty right along the creek. Also hiking trails in the area. Be cautious though we had two local people in the area talk to us about people stealing things there and how there used to be a real homeless problem where a church about 30 miles away started dropping off homeless people they were tired of dealing with… typical 🙄. We did not see anything too shady during our visit, however. Just be cautious. The camp host was very nice and helpful. The bathhouse had one shower per side and on a scale of 1 to 10 for cleanliness, I would give it a 6.
