## Overview

 Dale Hollow Damsite is a quiet, peaceful campground in the green hills of Tennessee. The campground is a popular area for families, with an abundance of amenities and recreational activities available. In the late fall through early spring the American Bald Eagle can be spotted flying overhead or perched on low-lying limbs. Dale Hollow hosts the second-largest wintering eagle population in the states of Tennessee and Kentucky.
## Recreation

 Dale Hollow is renowned for its fishing opportunities. In addition to yielding the world record smallmouth bass and being known as a trophy smallmouth lake, the Obey River below Dale Hollow Dam is also known for excellent rainbow and brown trout fishing. Boating and water skiing are also popular activities, and with 27,700 surface acres of water and 620 miles of shoreline, there is plenty of space for campers to explore the lake. Secluded tie-ups are located around the shore, offering campers a peaceful nature experience. A one-mile paved walking and biking trail winds through forest, along streamside and past a rolling meadow. The Red Oak Ridge Trail is about nine miles away and hosts 18 miles of trails, mainly developed for horseback riding, but the area is available to hikers as well. The Accordian Bluff Hiking Trail is a 7.5 mile one-way trail which ascends to a ridge-top and back down to the shoreline of Dale Hollow Lake. It is an ideal trail for birders and wildflower enthusiasts and connects both Lillydale and Willow Grove Campgrounds. Trail access is located approximately 30 miles from Dale Hollow Dam Campground.
## Natural Features

 Dale Hollow Dam and Lake was completed in 1943. Although the dam was built for flood control and power generation, it has now become a recreational oasis for more than 3 million visitors each year. The dam is located on the Obey River, about 3 miles east of Celina, Tennessee. Surrounded by a thick expanse of forest, the clear blue lake creates a stunning scenic backdrop for a variety of water and land recreational activities.

 The Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery sits adjacent to the campground. Operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the hatchery is the largest federal trout hatchery east of the Mississippi, producing 1.5 million trout annually. The hatchery is open to visitors daily.

A $10 service fee will be withheld from any refund for a cancellation. A $10 service fee may be charged to changes made to an existing reservation (see full policies for when this is applicable). Day of arrival cancellations or adjustments must be made by calling the park. A customer who cancels a standard campsite reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Customers who cancel a group overnight campsite reservation less than 14 days before the arrival date will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee. Customers who cancel a group day-use facility reservation (picnic shelter) less than 14 days before the arrival date will forfeit the total day-use fee. No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first nights recreation fee for a campsite or forfeit the entire day-use fee for a day-use facility. Applicable fees, including service/cancellation fees and change fees, are non-refundable and subject to change. No refunds for recreation use fees may be made at the campground. Early departures must depart and drop their tag before the checkout time in order to receive a refund for the unused day.

The Best Camping Near Hilham, Tennessee

With only one non improved site I was a little hesitant of this site. I didn't really need electricity but I went ahead and opted into the $27 site and charged my devices for the evening.

I arrived and noticed that this is a decently sized campground right by the dam area. The views of the water and all the activities which that can include was perfect and access to the information center was just a short drive. I was very impressed.

I settled in and while it was pretty crowded at the campsite, it was not loud like some campgrounds I have stayed at along the way. Roads were gravel and easy to navigate and each campsite was fitted with the typical camp ring and picnic table. Sites were level and there was a nice mix of RV campers and tent campers at the facility.

This was a great area to spend a little time on the road because of its amenities and proximity to the water. I loved the surroundings and how green everything was coming from the dry Texas vegetation. It was very cool to also see how the dam contributes to the area and the information they have available when staying at the campground.

TIPS:

* Check out any number of water sports available in the area and soak in the area fully.

* Do be aware of the events taking place throughout the year 2018 celebrating the 75th anniversary of the dam. During some of these activities camping can be very difficult to lock in.

* Pay attention to the firewood regulations!

Great Views Nice Pricing

Near a fish hatchery so you should be able to catch rainbow trout, four of us fished for an hour and a half and never got a nibble. Some sites are shaded but others are completely sun. Very nice camp hosts.

Close to water, but not really easily accessible from campsites.

Campground parallels the Obey River. Plenty of fish opportunities from boat, kayak, wading and shoreline. Campsites have plenty of shade but restroom/shower houses could use some repair/updating. Also bring plenty of ice as there is no ice machine on site. Nearest place to get ice is 2 miles away in Celina TN 

River front camping!

We have only camped here once however we are booked next month and we can't wait.  We loved this campground.  It offers great shade sites, walking trails and water access.  Everyone was very nice and grounds are clean

Great campground

Our family loves coming here every year; the amenities are kept clean and in good working order, the campsites are well maintained and it has a beautiful biking/walking path. The fish hatchery is fun for kids And there is a perfect swimming area by the dam. The park rangers have always been very friendly. It has a park and volleyball area for kids to play at. It is close enough to the small town to pick up anything needed; but there isn’t any camp store at the site itself. Even when we were tent camping in the pouring rain we had a good time.

Quite.  Clean.  Nice water view from our site and a short walk to shower facility.  Location of campground: a car ride away from activities.  Not a bicycle friendly area.(hills and roadways).

Another real nice COE campground. Nicely spaced, some paved, most are level sites. Table, standup bbq grill, extra small table, lantern hooks, electric &amp; water. Sites near the back of the campground by the fish hatchery were nice and back up to a fence, but constant construction noise. Plus a rather steep backup ramp to pad area. We had a site across from the road from river (#25), but could not see it due to the thick brush &amp; trees on the bank. No wifi,but good ATT &amp; Verizon cell service. Nice half mile paved walk/bike path that takes you past the trout fishing area and back to the campground.

Worth a return visit.

The COE does it again

Did a drive around of the campground. Spacing looks great between sites. Sites look clean and level. Some sites are next to the Obey River. Will be camping here in the near future.
