Great scenic location

LGood scenic location, and especially if you don't like the crowds...but no showers, even rustic ones - which was a must have for us after a day of hiking. Trails nearby, & they do have toilets and sinks. Sites accommodate tents AND RVs. There's an amphitheater which makes me want to have a wedding in this wooded cathedral! Also fun for the kiddos to put on mock plays in ;)

These mountains are just amazing

All of the campgrounds in these mountains were wonderful to camp, there were many different hiking trails around, that all had their own unique and glorious views! I cannot wait to go back!!

Love this state park

Went here with my boyfriend about a year ago, so much fun. There's so much to do. I love the hiking trails and the nature. It's absolutely breathtaking. We met a couple friendly squirrels, and we stayed in a really pretty cabin. Really nice locals too.

Going up?

Read all about Mt Cammerer fire tower and planned it in my road trip. Car camped and headed in nice and early. It was a challenging climb and not for the faint of heart :) seriously, anyone could do it if you have all day as its 5+ miles up pretty much the entire way. Worth the hike for the view, but it was crowded at the top. We were informed near the top that dogs are not allowed, which was weird to me due to it being part of the Appalachian Trail and I hadn't seen anything about it in the literature I read? But I digress...So, if you enter from Cosby dogs are allowed in the campground but not on the trail?? Wildlife and all. Good hike, definitely worth the climb, put it on your list! :)

Cosby=solitude in the GSM

Cosby is the by far the most secluded and private campground in the Smokies. While there is lack of waterfront sites it is much more peaceful than any of the others. It's very peaceful and close to awesome trails-Low Gap and Lower Mt Cammerer. Also the best hidden jewel nearby is Carver Orchard and Applehouse. Cosby town itself is a neat little corner of the world and very worth being away from Gatlinburg.

Lesser known area of the Smokies

Great area to have an adventure and get away from all the tourists visiting the Smokies. A few local campgrounds around with good hiking trails and access to the Appalachian trail. Great area to see the fall leaves. Definitely a great place to spend a week with the family. If you manage to get bored or want to get out of town, you can always drive a little further south to the main areas of the Smokies where you can find everything you could imagine.

Fall Splendor

Visited inthe Fall of 2015. Campground was clean, well supported and very convenient to hiking trails in the GSMNP. The campground has tent and RV sites, restrooms with sinks and toilets, outside wash sinks,etc. No showers. Staff was friendly and informative. In October, avilability was very good and we enjoyed a site in the back, that had immediate access to trails, etc. A great visit.

Quiter part of the park with great hikes close!

The Cosby campground tends to be a little quieter than Cades Cove or Elkmont, but I like it that way! There is ample parking nearby and trailheads. I was there when it was a little cooler and there was hardly anyone there, which was nice! There is a Mount Cammerer Trailhead right there, which is a fabulous hike. There is a stream nearby also!
