This is how "luxury" is done

I was googling places to go on our RV trip and stumbled upon Anchor Down on the old Google. As I looked around, I struggled to find a legitimate bad review. The pictures all looked great, so we decided to book. We secured site 53 for two nights (it was all that was available).

Before arrival, I had called to change our site when I found our site open. The lady on the phone was super nice, and informative about the seasonal activities. The initial taste was good.

When we arrived, we were met by a greeter, who took down our plate number and sent us in to check in. The whole process took just a few minutes, and we were on our way. The view does not really come into play until you come up over the hill after registration. Even with the water level down, Douglas Lake is a site to see. We wound around and EASILY backed into our site. The sites are all pretty large (way bigger than our 30' rental), paved and flat. The hookups are right where they should be, and they even include cable and wifi. We did not use either, but it is a great added value for the price. The view alone was worth a million dollars. The fireplace was another.

We ordered several buckets of wood ($5 cash or $7.50 card...it is an outside vendor they buy from). They deliver it to your site within minutes in a bucket, and each bucket is more than a typical bundle. We also rented a golf cart for $35 a day. we found this to be essential to just get around for our family.

The pool was great, and the waterslide was perfect for the kids. Later in the week and weekends, they have a food truck outside the pool area. We got some ice cream and enjoyed the great view. The resort has a playground, laundry, showers etc. The bath and shower houses are immaculate. The entire place is run with pride and a sense of service. We will come back in a heartbeat.

While we loved our site, even if you are stuck with the very last site...take it. There is really no bad site in this place.

Nicest campground ever

This is one of the nicest campgrounds I have ever stayed at. It has fireplaces at many of the sites. The lake swimming area is fun, and the pool was great.

#1

By far the best campground we’ve ever stayed at. Friendly staff and most beautiful view of Douglas lake. Bath houses and amenities are the cleanest we’ve ever witnessed by far. 5 star for sure! We’ll be back every year!

Extremely Clean RV Resort

This is one of the most cleanest RV resorts we have been to. It has amazing Mountain View’s, Full Hookups, close to attractions, nice pool, water slides at pool and lake. Food truck, rent golf carts. It’s a great place. Only drawback was no trees. Do a little research on sites, some are very tight and back up to another RV.

Super clean and well organized

We stayed here just one night but it was incredibly clean, well organized and easy every step of the way from our night time arrival to our departure. They have a boat ramp, playground, pool, arcade, fireplaces and more. We would return for a longer time in the summer.

Best Resort in the Us!

Splurge for once, well worth it. This resort has everything covered. Beautiful outdoor stone fire places at some sites. Beautiful views overlooking Douglas Lake.

Super Campground

This was the nicest, cleanest and newest camping resort I have ever seen. Beautiful views at a lake below the Smokey Mountains. Huge paved sites and stone fireplaces.

Beautiful. Well maintained sites. Clean, updated, spacious bathhouse. Friendly staff! Nice beach, and pool! Just wish they sold propane. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience.

Gorgeous

The Amenities - Bath House, restrooms and laundry are the finest I have ever encountered. Shower areas are large enough for families with young ones to be together with wet, dry, sink and commode area all in one room - some shower heads are adjustable for height and become hand held. Cleanliness was amazing. All campsites had concrete pad, fire pit or gorgeous fireplace, metal picnic table and they deliver a bucket of firewood for $5. Was surprised the only bug we encountered were flies - not one mosquito. Pet friendly - pick up stations and off leash area with activities for active breeds.

1 of a kind

Just stayed overnight. They had a cancellation right in front of the lake so we took it. It’s a cross between a packed parking lot and a super upscale rv resort. It’s a great place for kids and families. Lots of water activities on a beautiful lake. Lots of amenities. Professionally run.

Amazing Glamping Resort

This RV resort had everything we needed. Water, electric and sewage hookups. We had access to cable TV, although we don't have a TV in our camper. They also have extremely fast wifi which is hard to come by at campgrounds. Not to mention the AMAZING views of the lake and mountains. Our kids spent their days going back and forth between the pool with a waterslide and swimming in the lake. Their lake had a clean beach, waterslide and trampoline.

Luxury camping for SURE!

This camp ground is nothing short of luxurious! From its level concrete sites (some with massive stack stone fireplaces) to it’s bathhouses (that are nicer than my own home bathrooms, btw), they have spared no expense in creating the nicest campground possible! Basically, my only complaint is that there are almost no shade trees. Most campers who stay here have large RVs so shade isn’t necessarily an issue for them. We have a pop up camper (we were literally the only pop up there’s when we stayed-lol) and although we have air conditioning in our camper, the tent beds get pretty hot even still without some shade trees. Also, there is no restroom even close to the playground area. Thankfully we didn’t have a bathroom emergency with our toddler.

The beach area they’ve constructed on the lake is INSANE! So so nice! There’s a giant blow up slide leading into the lake. There’s a super cute and fun dog park, arcade room, very nice pool area, food truck with anything you could want to eat, and the workers are super nice. Every Saturday in October, campers decorate their site and hand out candy to the costumed campers! My kids LOVED that. We have already booked for this next October and plan to make it a tradition!
